Due to continued growth and major project wins across the UK and Europe, we are looking for experienced BMS Commissioning Engineers to join our expanding team. This is an opportunity to work on large-scale, mission-critical facilities, delivering complex commissioning activities from initial testing through to integrated systems testing and client handover. What You'll Be Doing * Lead and execute BMS commissioning activities on hyperscale and enterprise data centre projects. * Review design documentation, sequences of operation and control philosophies. * Develop and execute commissioning plans, scripts and test procedures. * Carry out Level 1-5 commissioning and integrated systems testing. * Coordinate with electrical, mechanical and controls teams to ensure seamless project delivery. * Troubleshoot and resolve BMS and controls issues. * Produce commissioning reports and final handover documentation. * Build strong relationships with clients, consultants and subcontractors. What We're Looking For * Proven experience commissioning BMS systems within data centres, mission-critical facilities or large-scale infrastructure projects. * Strong understanding of HVAC systems, controls integration and critical environments. * Experience of Level 4 and Level 5 testing is highly desirable. * Ability to lead commissioning activities and manage multiple stakeholders. * Excellent communication and problem-solving skills. * Willingness to travel across the UK and Europe.
Role Overview The Technical Manager (Mechanical) will play a key role within the Technical Delivery Team, supporting commissioning activities across all project phases in fast-paced, mission-critical data centre environments. This role is primarily focused on mechanical systems (e.g. HVAC, critical cooling, fuel systems, and associated infrastructure) and the development of Level 0 (L0) deliverables, ensuring consistency, quality, and technical excellence across the business. Working both remotely and in support of site teams, the role will contribute to commissioning strategy, support design assurance, drive standardisation of commissioning delivery, and provide expert technical guidance during complex testing and troubleshooting scenarios. The role will also incorporate duties aligned to a Commissioning Consultant (CxC), including input into sustainability-led commissioning processes (e.g. LEED, BREEAM), with responsibility for ensuring commissioning deliverables meet both client and certification requirements. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with internal teams, clients, and project stakeholders to ensure commissioning outcomes align with programme, safety, performance, operational, and compliance objectives. Reporting to: Head of Technical Delivery Location: Hybrid Key Responsibilities Technical Delivery & Strategy Support the development and continuous improvement of programme-wide commissioning strategies for data centre projects Provide mechanical subject matter expertise across all project stages (design through to handover) Ensure alignment between commissioning activities, project programmes, and client delivery objectives Promote consistency in how commissioning is defined, executed, and reported across projects Contribute to the development and standardisation of commissioning processes, templates, and lessons learned Provide technical escalation support for complex mechanical commissioning challenges Design Phase (L0 Focus & CxC Input) Undertake RIBA Stage 2, 3, and 4 design reviews at key percentage completion stages from a commissioning, operability, and maintainability perspective Review and provide structured input into: Owner’s Project Requirements (OPR) Basis of Design (BoD) documentation Act in a CxC advisory capacity, ensuring design alignment with commissioning best practice and certification requirements (e.g. LEED Fundamental & Enhanced Commissioning, BREEAM requirements) Support the development and review of commissioning specifications within employer’s requirements Produce initial draft Commissioning Plans aligned with project scope, programme, and phasing constraints Define phasing and operational strategies for critical mechanical systems (e.g. chilled water, air systems, fuel, fire/smoke interfaces) Develop and maintain a Commissioning Risk Register, identifying technical, operational, and programme risks Provide input into constructability and commissionability reviews, including system accessibility, redundancy, and failure scenarios Pre-Construction & Construction Support Provide remote technical support to project teams and site-based commissioning managers Review and contribute to commissioning documentation, including: Method statements Level 4–5 test scripts (drafting and technical assurance) Commissioning checklists and procedures Provide guidance on Level 4 testing methodologies, integrated system testing approaches, and fault resolution Support Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) as required Act as a technical reviewer for mechanical commissioning deliverables, ensuring compliance with client, design, and CxC requirements Support coordination between mechanical, electrical, controls, and BMS disciplines to ensure integrated system performance Ensure quality, traceability, and consistency in commissioning outputs and documentation Acceptance & Handover Support Provide technical oversight of Level 4 and Level 5 commissioning strategies for mechanical systems Support validation of system performance against OPR, BoD, and commissioning acceptance criteria Review commissioning results, identifying trends, risks, and non-conformances Contribute to final commissioning reports and technical close-out documentation Support delivery of commissioning evidence required for LEED/BREEAM certification (e.g. commissioning reports, issues logs, performance validation) Participate in and support lessons learned workshops to inform continuous improvement Qualifications & Experience Essential: Strong background in mechanical systems within critical environments (e.g. data centres, healthcare, or similar) Demonstrable experience in, or suitable knowledge of commissioning mechanical systems (HVAC, chilled water, CRAH/CRAC, etc.) Solid understanding of commissioning processes Desirable: HNC/HND in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering BEng (Hons) or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline Experience acting in a Commissioning Consultant (CxC) or similar advisory role Knowledge of LEED (Fundamental / Enhanced Commissioning) and/or BREEAM commissioning requirements Formal project management qualification (e.g. PRINCE2) Completed mechanical or building services trade apprenticeship or equivalent practical qualification Skills & Competencies Strong technical expertise in mechanical systems and commissioning methodology Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities Ability to interpret complex engineering designs and documentation Strong communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels Organised and methodical approach to documentation and process standardisation Ability to work independently while supporting distributed project teams Additional Information The role will involve collaboration across multiple projects and travel to project sites as required.

About the Role Yondr is looking for a talented and experienced Technical subject Matter Expert (SME) – A Mechanical systems experienced design/engineer that will join the DCX (Data Centre Execution) team to provide engineering design expert input to ensure our portfolio of projects is compliant against our design parameters and that of our tenants and compliant also with local code. The ideal candidate will be engaged in the design of Yondr’s current and future generation of data center products targeted at both the Hyperscale/Cloud and AI compute markets by pushing innovation and influencing, advising and ensuring compliance in technical standards and specifications. To ensure that Yondr’s design requirements and that of our tenants are incorporated into our current and future developments, as SME, you will work closely with the Global VP Design and Regional Design Directors, and where required, manage teams of consulting partners to provide industry standard compliant solutions that are both innovative and cutting edge. You will also work closely with project managers, design engineers, consultants, contractors and commercial teams to ensure the successful delivery and ongoing operation of our in-flight projects- globally (AMERS/EMEA). As a global role- the role will require work across both regions across our project portfolio – so travel and working on/from projects in region will be anticipated. The role will also see the successful candidate engaged and working in partnership with various business functions and initiatives within DCX design, including input to the development and land acquisition where requried, bid phase support where required, and assisting our construction delivery team through to operations to drive technical excellence and compliant to client SoQ and Yondr reference design parameters during the full life cycle of our data centers. Main Responsibilities * Working in partnership with the Global and regional design directorship, reporting directly under the Global VP Design, you will be collaborating with and managing our consulting partners to produce and develop BoD strategies, reference designs and global/regional standards. * Collaborate as part of the bench of technical expert SME within Yondr to ensure that appropriate standards in design and in management and behaviours are consistently delivered. You will be a team-player, sensitive to your peers and to ensuring that through collaboration best solutions can be found that consider the issues through all project phases, including in operation. * Oversee live projects through to detailed design and sign-off the mechanical systems in accordance with our global standards. * Undertake reviews at key project stage gateways to ensure the mechanical systems are of the highest standards, fit for purpose, buildable and cost effective. * Support various business initiatives including the continuous improvement of our global design standards and innovations for future technologies. * Support the development team & utilities/power teams in Yondr in utilities planning & procurement. * Engage with the supply chain to challenge the ‘norm’ and develop innovative solutions to provide the world class product considering: technical performance, resilience, energy efficiency, buildability, scalability, maintainability. * Continuously increase your knowledge of data center services, systems and components through involvement with manufacturing, construction, installation, commissioning and operations to drive greater design standards. * Support the business in identifying opportunities to improve site infrastructure and reduce our power usage effectiveness. * Lead technical aspect of providing specific related technical input to our customers working in collaboration with the project design manager/regional design management team. Qualifications and experience * Expert knowledge and extensive experience with mechanical systems including air, refrigerant and water based cooling and heating systems, ventilation systems, hot and cold water services systems, process water systems and treatment, surface and foul water drainage systems. * Proven DC/Mission critical focused experience * Knowledge of BMS, fire suppression systems and acoustics preferred, but not necessary. * Basic knowledge of electrical, ICT, security, architecture, civil and structural disciplines to enable effective cross discipline coordination and agreement of key interfaces. * Understanding in depth of the commissioning processes relating to Data Centre delivery, and all stages of the quality/integration processes from FWT to full tagging to IST / RFS. * Good commercial acumen with understanding of commercial impacts to technical decision making from capex to opex * Be professional and personable with the ability to lead meetings, workshops and presentations both upstream to end customers and downstream to supply chain partners. You will be working in a team and you need to be a communicator and collaborator who will be able to form trusting relationships and interact at all times professionally with your colleagues, peers and our end clients. * Degree qualified in Engineering or equivalent is required.
