Splicer - Network Maintenance

About the Role: The Fiber Operations Technicians support the Splicing Command and Control team through rotating shift coverage, helping ensure the physical network is monitored and supported around the clock. In this role, you’ll optimize system operations and resource utilization in partnership with the NOC, perform network/system analysis and support planning efforts, and serve as a key point of coordination during outages and maintenance activity. You’ll also provide timely assistance and clear guidance to splicers and field technicians, helping troubleshoot issues, align next steps, and accelerate restoration when problems arise.  This position is based on-site at our Network Operations Center in Mobile, AL.   What You’ll Do: * Perform network surveillance, continuously monitoring the critical paths and systems that comprise the Uniti Network. * Receive, troubleshoot, and manage escalations from NOC Tier 1, driving timely resolution and coordinating with other teams as needed. * Operate and support the majority of Uniti’s ~32 Network/Element Management Systems (NMS/EMS) and associated network platforms, including Layer 1, Layer 2, and Layer 3 network devices. * Serve in a primarily support-focused role, providing operational assistance to maintain network performance, reliability, and service continuity. * Complete circuit writing and provisioning activities for assigned areas of the network, ensuring accuracy and adherence to established processes.   Do You Have: * 2-5 years NOC experience or equivalent. * College degree is not required but a plus. YOUR MISSION WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING? * Splicing of live/in build network using a Fujikura 90s or similar (company provided) * Installation of various branded optical fibre cables to various types of splice enclosures, working to Viberoptix required standards * Fault finding on existing network, updating and interpreting Splcing schedules. * Testing and Splicing fibres to ensure that they are in line with the client quality standards using EXFO - ILM/OTDR * Production/Interperet of Fibre characterisation reports (EXFO). * Ensure relevant Health & Safety standards are followed and achieved YOUR PROFILE WHAT WILL YOU BRING? * Ability to produce, update and interpret records of daily work logs, data recordings and network design maps * Ability to work on their own as well as part of a team * Experience of testing and splicing on a Fibre network * Experience with various types of splice enclosures Corning BPEO’s size 0, 1.5 and 2, Hellermann, Prysmian * Confident working at heights and underground network when required * Excellent communication skills across all levels * Excellent organisation, communication and leadership skills * Experience of using Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel * Full valid driving licence ABOUT US Viberoptix, part of the Fibrus Group of companies, deliver specialised fibre network build solutions from design, civils activities, cabling and splicing.
