The Opportunity We are looking for a Lead Engineer - Plants who wants to take on a key role at HVDC in technical leadership in tenders and projects. You will have the responsibility to coordinate global teams with focus on Plants and Civil engineering design solutions and its interfaces for our onshore and offshore converter stations. Experience within HVDC, transmission systems, substations, electrical power systems, offshore wind, or other large-scale energy infrastructure projects is highly valued. Strong technical understanding with the ability to quickly develop expertise in HVDC technology and systems. The Electrical Valve Design department is a part of Hitachi Energy HVDC Products in Ludvika. We as a department are globally responsible for electrical design and requirements of semiconductors based HVDC and SVC valves. HVDC valves are used to convert AC to DC, and vice versa, and are essential for HVDC power transmissions. SVC valves are used in SVC systems, to support and stabilize AC systems. We also are responsible for designing digital optical instrument transducers. These are state of the art and compact current measuring instruments suited specifically for HVDC applications. These current measuring instruments are used in different parts of an HVDC system, such as measuring the valve current to protect it against overcurrents and earth faults. It is also used for measuring harmonics and filter supervision. The Electrical Valve Design department in Sweden consists of 38 employees including the managers. We also have electrical design departments in India and China, who we work in close collaboration with. Our department is not only responsible for tenders and project deliveries, but also for productification of new valve solutions, life cycle management and provide technical support in upgrades & service projects. In this role you will be part of a new expanding department that will focus on type testing and type approvals within HVDC for Electrical Environment. We are part of Control & Protection for hardware design. We are designing the automation system layout with placement of circuit boards and cable channeling and more, at our sites. Our cubicles have control cabinet layout, consisting of hundreds of circuit boards for measurements, control and calculations. Our system also includes user interfaces such as HMI (Human Machine Interface), diagnostic tools and IT infrastructure and IT security. For this we utilize our in-house developed real-time platform MACH to meet the power industry’s standards. In this position you will have a bigger scope than the actual testing. The opportunity Hitachi Energy HVDC is seeking a highly skilled Project Technical Engineering Specialist Professional to provide advanced technical expertise and leadership within complex Offshore Wind Connection projects. This role involves contributing to the design, development, and implementation of Cybersecurity / Networking solutions across various systems in the Tender / Projects. How you’ll make an impact Lead Cybersecurity & Networking design for IT/OT Systems, Such as High Voltage AC, HVDC, CCTV, Telephone, PIDS, PAGA, etc., to established standards and best practices. Provide expert technical guidance and support to project teams throughout the entire project lifecycle, from concept, base design, detail design, supplier documentation review and confirm the deployment and post-implementation. Conduct in-depth technical analysis, feasibility studies, and risk assessments for proposed engineering solutions. Develop and review technical specifications, architectural designs, and implementation plans. Troubleshoot and resolve highly complex technical issues, providing innovative solutions and recommendations. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, manufacturing, and sales, to ensure alignment of technical solutions with business objectives. Your background You have at least a university degree in Engineering, or equivalent experience from a comparable position Bachelor's or master’s degree in engineering (e.g., Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Science, or related field). 14+ years of progressive experience in technical engineering roles, with a significant portion in project-oriented environments Proven expertise in at least one specialized engineering domain relevant to Hitachi's business (e.g., industrial automation, power systems, IT infrastructure, railway systems, renewable energy) Strong understanding of system architecture, design principles, and software/hardware integration.
