Palsatech is looking for geotechnicians to support geological work at our operations in Kiruna, Sweden. The role is based at our local operations center and focuses on hands-on technical support for mineral exploration and mining-related projects. This position is suitable for someone with interest in the mining sector and practical work. Any vocational training, studies or experience in geology, mining, or related fields, is considered an advantage. Initially, we can provide support with housing, but in the long term we expect you to settle in the region. Position Summary As a Field Services Supervisor at Palsatech Sweden, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating field operations related to mineral exploration, drilling support, geological fieldwork, sampling programs, logistics, and other technical services. The role combines operational leadership, personnel management, health and safety responsibility, and customer engagement. You will act as the key link between clients, field personnel, subcontractors, geologists, and company management, ensuring that projects are executed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. Key Responsibilities Field Operations Management Plan, coordinate, and oversee field service projects throughout Sweden and Nordics. Allocate personnel, equipment, vehicles, and other resources to ongoing projects. Lead and support field teams to ensure safe and efficient execution of work. Monitor project progress, productivity, quality, and deliverables. Participate in project kick-offs, operational reviews, and risk assessments. Ensure compliance with customer requirements, company procedures, and industry standards. Personnel Management Direct management responsibility for field service employees in Sweden. Recruit, onboard, train, and develop field personnel. Conduct performance reviews and development discussions. Foster a positive, engaged, and high-performing team culture. Support employees in day-to-day operational and personnel-related matters. Ensure workforce planning aligns with project demands and business needs. Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Take overall responsibility for workplace safety and compliance within Swedish operations. Promote and maintain a strong safety culture across all field activities. Conduct risk assessments, safety audits, and workplace inspections. Investigate incidents, near misses, and non-conformities, and implement corrective actions. Ensure employees have the required certifications, training, and personal protective equipment (PPE). Drive continuous improvement in health, safety, environmental, and quality performance. Customer & Business Support Serve as the primary operational contact for customers during project execution. Build and maintain strong customer relationships. Support project planning, resource estimation, and quotation processes. Identify opportunities for business development and service improvement. Qualifications Required Proven experience in a supervisory or leadership role within mining, mineral exploration, drilling, construction, industrial services, or a related field. Experience managing personnel and leading operational teams. Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations and best practices. Experience planning and coordinating personnel, equipment, and field operations. Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and leadership abilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and operational planning systems. Valid driver's license (Category B). Ability to travel in Sweden and abroad. English, both written and spoken - good / excellent. Department of Crop Production Ecology Biology with a specialisation in ecology - The Department of Crop Production Ecology is seeking a PhD student in plant breeding and plant protection against insect pests. Description: Chemical insecticides have been an important tool for limiting crop losses caused by insect pests and insect-borne viruses, but their availability has declined sharply in recent years. Crop varieties with resistance, tolerance or other traits that enable them to avoid insect damage and viruses spread by insects will therefore be a cornerstone of future integrated pest management. The vision for the new project 'Node for Plant Breeding against Insect Pests and Viruses' within the centre SLU Grogrund is to reduce crop losses caused by pests and insect-borne viruses through crop breeding. The project focuses on insect pests and viruses in wheat, field beans, peas and sugar beet and is a collaboration between five departments at SLU and three plant breeding companies. We are seeking a highly motivated individual for a PhD position within the Node, focusing on the broad bean beetle (Bruchus rufimanus), a key pest of field bean. Infestations by the broad bean beetle pose an obstacle to developing field bean cultivation and a market for field beans for human consumption. The PhD programme comprises both research and coursework. The main tasks within the research component will be: Examine the insect's life cycle in the field and in storage Develop methods for screening of broad bean beetle infestations in a large panel of plant breeding material Contributing to the development of DNA markers for resistance or tolerance to broan bean beetle, for future application in plant breeding You will collaborate on the project with other PhD students and senior researchers in plant breeding, crop production, entomology, virology and genetics, as well as with the industry and other stakeholders, primarily Lantmännen and NordGen. Laboratory and field work is planned to be carried out at both SLU's campuses in Uppsala and Alnarp, as well as at NordGen in Alnarp. Field work at other locations in Sweden may also be included. Qualifications: Necessary qualifications: A second-cycle (MSc) degree in agronomy, horticulture, plant breeding, plant biology or a related field. Experience of statistical analysis of data. Forward Deployed Operator Terranova is hiring a Forward Deployed Operator to help deploy, operate, and improve our robotic land elevation systems in the field. This is a hands-on, field-heavy role for someone who can run machines, fix equipment, work outside, and solve weird, difficult problems in real time. You will work either a Thursday-Monday or Friday-Tuesday schedule. Weekend work is part of the job. A sixth day will be required in rare weeks where you were not deployed to the field for most of the week. Most days, you will be on site preparing for injections, operating robots, running support equipment, troubleshooting failures, and helping the team execute field work safely and quickly. The role will include moving heavy materials and equipment, some manual labor, and operating or supporting traditional field machinery such as loaders, forklifts, skid steers, trailers, pumps, generators, and other site equipment. You will work closely with mechanical engineers, embedded systems engineers, and senior forward deployed engineers to test new hardware, improve field procedures, suggest changes to robots, and make the system more reliable every week. You will also help improve our autopilot system by giving strong field feedback on robot behavior, sensors, controls, operator workflows, failure modes, and what needs to change for real deployments. A lot of the job involves tricky physical and mechanical work where the right answer is not obvious, the equipment is heavy, the environment is imperfect, and mistakes can damage equipment or create safety risks. We need someone who can think clearly, communicate well, and do hard things safely while still moving fast.
