VA SYD söker en erfaren processingenjör med utvecklingsfokus till Produktionsavdelningen.  Din kommande roll Som processingenjör med utvecklingsfokus inom avloppsvattenrening arbetar du med att utveckla, optimera och framtidssäkra våra reningsprocesser. Du stöttar avdelningen i både strategiska och operativa frågor kopplat till våra avloppsreningsverk. Du har en central roll i arbetet med att säkerställa att vi klarar utsläppsvillkoren i våra miljötillstånd genom att du är ett viktigt stöd i processrelaterade frågor, men utgör också en viktig resurs i vårt arbete med att förbereda oss för att kunna möta framtida skärpta miljökrav. I rollen kombinerar du djup processteknisk kompetens med ett mer långsiktigt utvecklingsperspektiv. Du driver anläggningsnära utredningar, men deltar också aktivt i utvecklingsprojekt och investeringsprojekt kopplade till våra reningsprocesser. Arbetet sker i nära samverkan med driftorganisation, processingenjörer, projektledare, utredare, strateger, forskningsledare, myndigheter och externa samarbetspartners. Som erfaren Processingenjör med utvecklingsfokus är din roll bland annat att:  Leda anläggningsnära processutredningar, pilotförsök och utvecklingsprojekt. Bidra med processteknisk expertis i investerings- och ombyggnadsprojekt från förstudie till genomförande. Tillsammans med VA SYDs strateger och forskningsledare utvärdera ny teknik och nya arbetssätt för framtidens avloppsvattenrening. Analysera processdata och omsätta resultat till konkreta förbättringsåtgärder. Medverka i arbetet med att uppfylla ställda krav i både nuvarande och framtida miljötillstånd. Fungera som specialiststöd till drift- och underhållsorganisationen. Du kommer till enheten Process och utveckling, där vi samlar specialistkompetens inom processteknik för att utveckla arbetssätt och kunna möta nuvarande och framtida krav på våra avloppsreningsverk. Processingenjörerna arbetar tillsammans för att utveckla vårt gemensamma arbetssätt på Produktionsavdelningen. På enheten finns idag 11 processingenjörer fördelade mellan Sjölunda i Malmö, Klagshamn, Eslöv, Lund och Svedala. Rollen som erfaren processingenjör med utvecklingsfokus är ny vilket innebär att det finns möjlighet att vara med att forma tjänsten. Rollen kommer att vara placerad på något av våra avloppsreningsverk i Lund, Eslöv eller Klagshamn men rollen kommer att innefatta arbete på samtliga av våra avloppsreningsverk. The work will include formulation of printable sorbent inks and pastes with controlled rheological properties, integration of functional nanoparticles for induction-assisted regeneration, and fabrication of structured adsorbent geometries using advanced manufacturing techniques. The student will investigate how structural design, porosity, and mass-transfer properties influence adsorption performance, pressure drop, thermal management, and cyclic stability under humid process conditions. The project will further involve scale-up, process integration, and evaluation of structured sorbents in pilot-scale systems relevant to acid-plant and greenhouse CHP gas streams. Project description The doctoral student will be part of the research project COAST PFAS – Coastal PFAS Transition Lab for Source Control, Substitution and Governance, a transdisciplinary initiative addressing the spread of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) from urban and industrial sources to coastal environments. The project combines environmental analytical chemistry, wastewater and stormwater research, process understanding, and systems perspectives to support preventive and sustainable PFAS management. The PhD project is connected to the work package PFAS flows from land to sea, which focuses on identifying, mapping, and quantifying PFAS sources and transport pathways in urban water systems and coastal environments. The research will include targeted and non-targeted PFAS analysis in wastewater, stormwater, industrial effluents, and receiving waters. The research will also include the development of sector-specific PFAS fingerprints and mass-balance approaches. The doctoral student will work with advanced analytical methods including LC-MS/MS, combustion ion chromatography, extractable organofluorine (EOF), oxidation methods for PFAS precursors, and high-resolution mass spectrometry for suspect and non-target screening. The work also includes interpretation of large analytical datasets and integration of results into source-tracking and fate-assessment frameworks. The project is conducted in close collaboration between IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute, Chalmers University of Technology, Örebro University, VA SYD, and Malmö City. The doctoral student will be part of an interdisciplinary and international research environment involving analytical chemistry, environmental engineering, and sustainability research. Job description     Renewable ocean energy is a vital component of the global transition towards fossil-free energy production and a key contributor to a sustainable future. Technologies such as floating offshore wind, wave energy converters, and floating photovoltaic systems are rapidly advancing and being deployed in offshore environments. The project assistant will contribute to three ongoing research projects within the Division of Marine Technology. These projects are conducted in close collaboration with industrial partners specialising in the development of umbilical cables, mooring systems, and installation solutions for floating renewable energy devices. Two of the projects focus on the structural integrity of highly dynamic power cables. A central challenge is to design cables that can withstand complex mechanical loading while ensuring reliable power transmission over extended service lifetimes, without the need for maintenance or replacement. The third project centres on the development of an advanced lifetime engineering simulation framework, integrating lifecycle assessment (LCA), lifecycle cost (LCC), and lifecycle performance (LCP). As the LCP module is currently under development, the project assistant will play a key role in its completion. This work will include the modelling of fatigue behaviour of mooring systems for floating offshore wind applications, as well as extending the framework to incorporate power cable performance. Perform thermo-mechanical assessments of power cables to quantify how structural integrity is influenced by different power transmission rates. Enhance existing finite element models and conduct stress-based and fretting fatigue analyses, using cable motion characteristics obtained from SESAM simulations. Complete the lifecycle performance (LCP) module within the lifetime engineering framework, with a primary focus on mooring systems for floating offshore wind. The framework will also be extended to include power cables. Input to the LCP module will be provided by partners in an EU-funded project. The module will be developed in MATLAB and integrated with the existing LCA and LCC components. Prepare and submit at least one conference paper and one journal article. Contribute to the preparation of project reports. Participate in project meetings and present progress and results achieved between meetings.
