Om tjänsten Som Platschef/Arbetsledare har du det övergripande ansvaret för att planera, leda och följa upp mark- och anläggningsprojekt i Mellansverige. Projekten varierar i omfattning, men ligger normalt upp till cirka 10 MSEK. Du leder ett team på omkring 10 yrkesarbetare och har samtidigt ansvar för flera projekt parallellt – ofta tre stycken. Arbetet sker nära kund, där du representerar verksamheten professionellt och bidrar till långsiktiga relationer med kommuner och större bolag. Tjänsten innebär resor, med arbetstid måndag–torsdag och övernattningar på plats. Boende ordnas av arbetsgivaren. Fredagar är normalt arbetsfria eller används för uppföljning på distans. We are looking for a Senior Dredging Consultant to join our Dredging Survey & Environment Team with a background in (or good knowledge of) dredging, reclamation, earthworks and other water/marine works. While we are primarily seeking an experienced Senior Consultant, we are a growing team and are also keen to hear from ambitious early-careers professionals or engineers with relevant dredging experience who are eager to develop into this specialist field. You will play a key role in designing resilient maritime infrastructure and ensuring sustainable sediment management in the face of increasing climate-induced hazards. You will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality consultancy advice, overseeing dredging contractors, and providing technical support to clients. In addition, you will contribute to R&D activities, help develop innovative digital tools, and represent HR Wallingford at conferences and trade events. About you You will work both independently and as part of a team, undertaking occasional fieldwork and attending on-site client meetings as required. You are a highly organised professional with a sharp eye for detail, particularly regarding technical reporting and documentation. You should be comfortable translating complex site data into clear, effective written reports for a variety of stakeholders. As part of our commitment to technical excellence, the selection process will include a review of technical competency and written communication (including the reviewing and drafting of technical content). Candidates should be prepared to demonstrate practical knowledge of dredging plant and a high standard of professional reporting. Key qualifications and skills For the role you will need to demonstrate: * Education & Experience: A degree in a relevant field (e.g. Civil Engineering). Typically, we look for 5+ years of commercial dredging industry experience for the Senior grade, but we encourage applications from candidates at an earlier career stage who possess a strong technical foundation in heavy civils or maritime works. * Technical Knowledge: Understanding of a range of dredging plant and equipment, alongside knowledge of dredging project structure, programme and health and safety. * Software Proficiency: A high level of proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) is an absolute minimum requirement. * Communication: Exceptional written communication skills, with extensive experience in writing, reviewing, and delivering technical reports. Must also be able to communicate well verbally in meetings and via preparation and delivery of impactful presentations. * Project Management: Strong organisational skills with a track record of delivering tasks or projects on time and on budget. * Desirable Skills: Previous experience with GIS, CAD, or Microsoft Project would be a significant advantage, as would experience with vessel-based and overseas fieldwork. * Professional Growth: Professional membership of a relevant body (e.g., ICE, IMarEST), ideally Chartered or working towards Chartered status. What to to Expect Terranova is seeking a senior business development leader with a proven track record of both sales and project development. This person will own Terranova’s growth pipeline - building relationships with construction primes, agencies, congress, and partners - and translating large, complex opportunities into executable projects. You’ll work directly with Terranova’s leadership and lobbyist to identify target programs, shape proposals, and close high-impact deals spanning new development projects, wetland restoration, land resilience, base hardening, and coastal protection. You should be equally comfortable in a hard hat or a boardroom, able to move fluidly between technical teams, customers, and government stakeholders. The role is remote with strong preference for the SF Bay Area or Washington, D.C. The former to work in person with the team at our Berkeley office and the latter due to proximity to Washington D.C. Expect frequent travel to Berkeley, CA for coordination with engineering, as well as to bases, field sites, capitol hill , and major conferences nationwide. Key Responsibilities * Lead end-to-end BD cycles from identification through close across state, federal, civil and defense markets * Develop and maintain executive relationships with public-sector clients, EPCs, and defense contractors * Structure multi-year partnerships and contracts in the $1M–$50M+ range * Translate technical solutions into clear value propositions, proposals, and budgets * Work directly with engineers to scope, price, and deliver pilot-to-scale programs * Represent Terranova at conferences, site visits, and high-level briefings at the state and federal level Preferred Skills and Experience * Experience in construction, defense contracting, or infrastructure development * Experience in startups 0 to 1 sales, ideally being in a sales role from seed through series B * Experience with federal acquisition (FAR/DFARS) or contracting frameworks * Deep understanding of earthworks, ground modification, or related heavy civil domains * Exceptional commercial acumen and negotiation skills * High tolerance for travel, long hours, and direct accountability for outcomes * Strong writing and presentation ability for executive-level proposals Nice to Have Skills * Familiarity with engineering design-build workflows and bid preparation * Technical fluency to interface effectively with mechanical, controls, and robotics teams * Closed and led negotiations exceeding $50M+ in aggregate value * Strong existing network in FEMA, USACE, DoD or major primes Compensation $90k-150k base salary, stock options, and additional benefits
