Join us in our mission to transform the way people shop and eat, where impact, innovation and growth drive everything we do. Our
Data Science organisation sits at the heart of Deliveroo, powering decision-making across product, commercial and operational
teams through experimentation and causal inference.
We’re hiring multiple Data Science Managers across different areas of the business. All of these roles are at the same level.
Rather than hiring for one fixed team, we use the interview process to understand your strengths, interests and development areas,
and then align you to the right scope and team at the end of the process, based on your background, interview performance,
preferences and current business needs.
We’re also advertising some opportunities separately where particular domain experience is especially relevant. You only need to
submit one application, as we’ll consider your profile across all suitable Data Science Manager vacancies. Before an offer is
made, you’ll have the opportunity to meet the proposed team, either virtually or at our London headquarters, and learn more about
the role’s scope and priorities.
You’ll own the analytical direction and measurable impact of a product or business area, while leading and developing a
high-performing team of data scientists or machine learning engineers.
Our Data Science Managers work across a range of consumer, product and commercial areas. Depending on the team you join, your work
could focus on areas such as customer retention and loyalty, pricing and promotions, discovery and personalisation, or customer
acquisition and engagement.
Across all roles, you’ll lead and develop your team, set the analytical direction for your area and decide which problems are
worth solving. You’ll ensure data science work translates into better product and commercial decisions, not just analysis.
You’ll remain hands-on while managing a team, partnering with Product, Engineering, Ops, Marketing and Finance as a thought
partner. You’ll set the bar for analytical rigour, prioritisation and impact across noisy metrics, real trade-offs and strong
stakeholder opinions.
Our ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in some of these areas and curiosity to grow in others:
applied machine learning
At Deliveroo, you’ll work on real-world problems at global scale, across a three-sided marketplace that is constantly evolving.
We’re food lovers, problem solvers, community organisers and more, united by a shared drive to make things better. Working here,
At Deliveroo, we believe great workplaces reflect the world around us. We welcome candidates from all backgrounds regardless of
age, gender, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, socio-economic background, religion or belief.
If you require adjustments at any stage of the application or interview process, please let us know. We’re committed to ensuring
everyone has an equitable opportunity to succeed.
Ready to own impact and shape how decisions are made at Deliveroo? Apply today.
DATA SCIENCE MANAGER – MERCHANTS TEAM Join us in our mission to transform the way people shop and eat, where impact, innovation and growth drive everything we do. Our Data Science organisation sits at the heart of Deliveroo, powering decision-making across product, commercial and operational teams through experimentation, causal inference and applied machine learning. We’re hiring a Data Science Manager to join our Merchants team. Merchants are central to Deliveroo’s marketplace: they drive selection, order volume and a significant proportion of the value created across the business. You’ll lead a team focused on helping Deliveroo acquire, onboard, support and retain the right merchant partners. You’ll work across a broad set of merchant problems, from identifying the restaurants, grocers and retailers we should partner with, to improving order management, reducing merchant defects and helping partners manage their business more effectively through self-serve tools and communications. This role is based in London and sits within the wider Merchants Data Science team. You’ll report to a Senior Data Science Manager and partner closely with Product, Engineering, Strategy, Operations and Commercial teams. WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING You’ll own the analytical direction and measurable impact of a defined area within Merchants, while leading and developing a team of approximately four to seven data scientists. The team already has several data scientists in place and is continuing to grow. You’ll help shape that growth, build a high-performing team and bring structure to a fast-moving and ambiguous environment. Depending on the final scope, your team may work across areas such as: * merchant acquisition and onboarding, including identifying the most valuable restaurants, grocers and retailers to partner with; * improving models used to understand restaurant, grocery and retail supply; * merchant order management and reducing defects such as missing items, inaccurate orders, menu issues and rider waiting time; * merchant account management, churn and retention; * self-service tools, automated communications and partner support. You’ll identify high-value problems, guide the team’s analytical approach and ensure the work drives clear product, operational or commercial decisions. You’ll partner closely with senior stakeholders across Product, Engineering, Strategy, Operations and Commercial to shape priorities, make trade-offs and focus on the highest-impact areas. This is a hands-on management role with meaningful technical involvement. You should be comfortable getting into the detail and unblocking work, while prioritising people leadership and strategic direction. You’ll also maintain high analytical standards, delegate effectively and support team development through coaching and feedback. WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO THRIVE Our ideal candidate will bring: * Experience line managing data scientists and developing high-performing teams * A strong background as a senior data science individual contributor * Expertise in experimentation, causal inference or applied machine learning * The ability to guide technical work and translate data science into product, operational or commercial decisions * Strong stakeholder management skills and confidence working with senior leaders * The ability to bring structure to ambiguity, prioritise effectively and shape a clear roadmap Experience working with merchants, marketplaces, restaurants, grocery, retail or B2B products would be valuable, but is not essential. We’re more interested in your ability to solve complex, non-standard problems within a multi-sided marketplace. WHY JOIN US? Merchants are fundamental to Deliveroo’s success. The strength of our merchant network directly affects customer choice, order volume and the performance of the wider marketplace. In this role, you’ll work on complex, high-impact problems across product, commercial strategy and operations. You’ll have significant autonomy to shape the team’s roadmap, influence senior stakeholders and develop a growing team of strong data scientists. You’ll also have the opportunity to apply experimentation, causal inference, machine learning and AI to problems that directly affect Deliveroo’s growth, profitability and merchant experience. We’re looking for someone who is comfortable with ambiguity, can create structure where needed and can align teams around the most important problems. DIVERSITY, EQUITY AND INCLUSION At Deliveroo, we believe great workplaces reflect the world around us. We welcome candidates from all backgrounds regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, socio-economic background, religion or belief. If you require adjustments at any stage of the application or interview process, please let us know. We’re committed to ensuring everyone has an equitable opportunity to succeed. Ready to shape how Deliveroo works with the merchants at the heart of our marketplace? Apply today.
DATA SCIENCE MANAGER – DELIVERY TEAM Join us in our mission to transform the way people shop and eat, where impact, innovation and growth drive everything we do. Our Data Science organisation sits at the heart of Deliveroo, powering decision-making across product, commercial and operational teams through experimentation, causal inference and applied machine learning. We’re hiring a Data Science Manager to join our Delivery team. Delivery is responsible for making sure we have the right rider supply to meet consumer demand at a local level, while maintaining speed, reliability and network efficiency. You’ll lead a team focused on areas such as rider pay, incentives, supply and demand, load management and network economics. The work is highly specific to Deliveroo’s marketplace and requires balancing multiple interconnected outcomes across riders, consumers and the wider delivery network. This role is based in London and sits within the wider Delivery Data Science team. You’ll report to a Senior Data Science Manager and partner closely with Operations, Product, Machine Learning and Engineering teams. WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING You’ll own the analytical direction and impact of a defined area within Delivery, while leading and developing a team of approximately 4 to 6 data scientists. The team spans a range of experience levels and is continuing to grow. You’ll provide structure, coaching and technical direction to help them operate effectively in a complex, fast-moving environment. Depending on scope, your team may work across areas such as: * rider pay, incentives and surge pricing; * rider supply and fleet sizing at a local level; * balancing supply and consumer demand; * load management and network performance; * understanding rider behaviour, including changes in acceptance rates; * using experimentation to understand how riders and the network respond to changes in pay, incentives and demand signals; * improving how different operational and economic levers are used across the delivery system. You’ll identify the highest-value problems, guide the team towards the right analytical approach and ensure the work leads to clear operational, product and commercial decisions. A key part of the role is applying systems thinking. Changes to pay, supply, incentives or dispatch can have knock-on effects across the network, so you’ll need to reason through these interactions and support informed trade-offs. You’ll work closely with stakeholders across Operations, Product, Machine Learning and Engineering, including teams closest to day-to-day rider and market performance. This is a hands-on management role, with a meaningful portion of your time spent on direct technical contribution. Hands-on work is likely to be analytical, such as investigating market changes, interpreting experiments and unblocking complex problems. You’ll also maintain high analytical standards, delegate effectively and support team development through coaching and feedback. WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO THRIVE Our ideal candidate will bring: * Experience line managing data scientists and developing high-performing teams * A strong background as a senior data science individual contributor * Strong expertise in experimentation and causal inference * The ability to reason through complex systems and understand how changes in one area affect wider network outcomes * Experience translating analysis into operational, product or commercial decisions * Strong stakeholder management skills and confidence working with senior leaders * The ability to bring structure to ambiguity, prioritise effectively and shape a clear roadmap Experience in economics, marketplaces, logistics, mobility, supply and demand, pricing or operations would be valuable, but is not essential. We’re more interested in your ability to solve complex analytical problems within a dynamic, multi-sided marketplace. WHY JOIN US? Delivery is at the heart of Deliveroo’s customer proposition. The team’s work directly affects whether we have the right rider supply, how quickly orders arrive and how efficiently the marketplace operates. In this role, you’ll work on distinctive and highly interconnected problems across network economics, logistics and rider operations. You’ll have significant autonomy to shape the team’s roadmap, influence senior stakeholders and develop a strong team of data scientists. You’ll also have the opportunity to apply experimentation, causal inference and systems thinking to decisions that directly affect Deliveroo’s growth, service quality and network efficiency.
