As a Senior Critical Environment Technician (CET) within Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I) team, you will help maintain the critical infrastructure that powers Microsoft’s global cloud platform. This hands-on role combines technical expertise, operational leadership, and incident management to ensure datacentre systems remain safe, reliable, and available.
You will work closely with vendors, site leadership, and fellow technicians to manage maintenance activities, respond to operational incidents, mitigate risk, and support a culture of safety and operational excellence. The role also involves mentoring colleagues, troubleshooting complex equipment issues, and using monitoring and telemetry platforms to optimise system performance.

Responsibilities
Act as a technical specialist within a critical environment discipline such as electrical, mechanical, controls, or generator systems.
Perform advanced operational tasks independently and provide technical guidance to colleagues.
Inspect and monitor critical facility infrastructure, including HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and control systems, identifying and escalating abnormal conditions.
Use the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to manage assets, maintenance activities, and work orders.
Lead and coordinate incident response activities to restore service and minimise operational impact.
Follow, improve, and support Emergency Operating Procedures (EOPs), Methods of Procedure (MOPs), and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Perform planned, predictive, and corrective maintenance on critical infrastructure equipment.
Troubleshoot systems, equipment, subsystems, and components within your area of expertise.
Mentor and support technicians by sharing technical knowledge and troubleshooting expertise.
Ensure compliance with all safety, security, environmental health and safety (EH&S), and operational standards.
Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Embody Microsoft’s culture and values in all aspects of work.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent, with significant experience in mission-critical environments such as datacentres, manufacturing, healthcare, pharmaceutical facilities, energy infrastructure, or similar industries; or equivalent practical experience.
Experience within a specialised technical discipline, such as mechanical, electrical, controls, or a related field.
Security Requirements
Candidates must be able to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements, including:
Successful completion of the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire or transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications
Extensive experience working in mission-critical operations or critical infrastructure environments.
Associate’s Degree, technical trade certification, military training, or other relevant technical qualifications.
Advanced technical expertise within a specialised discipline and a proven ability to troubleshoot complex systems independently.
Compensation & Benefits
The typical base salary range for this role in Sweden is SEK 520,000 – 749,000 per year. Additional benefits and compensation may apply depending on employment type and location.

As a Senior Engineering Technician (Mechanical Systems) at Freeform, you will work closely with the engineering team to fabricate, assemble, test, and develop custom hardware for our advanced metal 3D printing factory systems. You will also build-out and maintain critical infrastructure systems (air, water, and inert gases), and ensure that all onsite fabrication and R&D areas are outfitted with the required tools/equipment, remain clean/organized, and are being used safely.
