We're searching for a Senior Developer Advocate to join our Builder Relations team. As businesses increasingly adopt modern technology stacks, your role will involve championing MongoDB and MongoDB Atlas, equipping builders to use them effectively. Collaborating with a global team of skilled Developer Advocates, you will be pivotal in empowering builders to integrate advanced capabilities into their enterprise applications and solutions. Our Developer Relations team is distributed worldwide, and most of the group works remotely. This position will be based in Dublin, Ireland. CANDIDATE PROFILE We seek a respected and influential voice within the developer community to join our team. As an experienced developer, you write code and have produced a diverse range of technical content to educate builders, including videos, tutorials, workshops, and conference talks, sharing insights, fostering discussions, and inspiring others to adopt best practices. Your passion lies in sharing knowledge and equipping fellow builders with cutting-edge technology. With at least five years of experience in a technical role, preferably as a developer within an enterprise environment, you bring extensive expertise in at least one of the languages most popular with our customers (Java, Python, JavaScript). You also understand the challenges builders encounter at large organizations.  You might have some experience as a developer advocate, or you might have been educating builders on the side and are now looking to do it full-time. Although it is not mandatory, a general understanding of MongoDB is a plus. As an effective communicator and educator, you can simplify complex concepts and facilitate understanding. While developing expertise in our platform, you will appreciate its core capabilities and how it is used with enterprise languages. Our team is built to work together, share knowledge, and help each other grow. You will work with others at all levels, supporting peer reviews, building demos, delivering hands-on workshops, and creating other content. Above all, you should be genuinely passionate about equipping other builders to be more productive and successful in their day-to-day jobs. POSITION EXPECTATIONS * Develop an expertise understanding of core MongoDB database functionality and Atlas features such as Search and Vector Search * Produce high-quality technical content, including tutorials with associated code, hands-on workshops, and video content to educate and engage builders within your community * Deliver virtual and in-person builder enablement sessions to audiences of up to 400 builders * Establish yourself as a recognized authority within the organization and the broader builder community * Maintain and continually develop proficiency in one or more complementary programming languages to communicate with builders and contribute to product improvements effectively * Champion our company’s tools and technologies, demonstrating how they benefit builders * Engage with members of the community through forums, meetups, and popular industry-specific events REQUIREMENTS * Strong background in software development * Five years of technical experience, preferably as a developer * Advocacy experience and a high-level understanding of MongoDB would be a plus * Proficiency with at least one of the languages most popular with our customers (Java, Python, JavaScript) * Proven track record of creating technical content (tutorials, workshops, documentation) * Strong presentation skills (both in-person and virtually) * Written and spoken English language proficiency * Ability and willingness to travel (up to 25%) primarily within the UK and Europe for events and occasional team meetings ABOUT MONGODB MongoDB is built for change, empowering our customers and our people to innovate at the speed of the market. This is a hybrid management position based in Dublin that will require recruiting for and developing engineers, leading a cross-functional team, as well as rolling up your sleeves and writing code. MongoDB Engineering Leads and Sr Leads are expected to be both people managers and active developers. We are looking to speak to candidates who are based in Dublin for our hybrid working model. ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES * Have an opportunity to play a leading role in defining and contributing to how MongoDB leverages software and agentic AI technology to streamline and enhance internal business operations * Lead cross-functional teams of engineering leads and individual contributors to deliver maximum value to the organization’s software solutions * Support and develop team members’ career growth and professional development * Collaborate with cross-functional partners to foster alignment and remove roadblocks for the team * Work hand in hand with Product Development to continuously deliver value to internal customers * Identify, design, implement, test, and support new features related to agentic and traditional software solutions * Mentor new engineering leads to become more effective managers and leaders, and level up high performing Individual Contributors to become leaders CANDIDATE PROFILE * 5+ years of experience managing teams with  5+ engineers and providing technical leadership * 5+ years of professional experience developing software * 1+ years of experience actively developing with Generative AI in a professional capacity * Experience designing, writing, testing, and maintaining fullstack applications * Experience mentoring engineers and providing technical leadership for teams and/or projects * Deep interest in developing the careers of your team members and growing their leadership skills * Excellent verbal and written technical communication skills * Curiosity, excitement, and ability to quickly learn new things in the domains of computer science, software engineering, and artificial intelligence SUCCESS MEASURES * In three months, you have begun forming professional relationships with all of your team members and started to learn their interests, strengths and areas of expertise. You have been fully onboarded to relevant sections of our codebase and will have contributed to the development of an ongoing project. You have worked with each engineer reporting to you on a growth plan for them to achieve their career goals.
