Forward Deployed Operator Terranova is hiring a Forward Deployed Operator to help deploy, operate, and improve our robotic land elevation systems in the field. This is a hands-on, field-heavy role for someone who can run machines, fix equipment, work outside, and solve weird, difficult problems in real time. You will work either a Thursday-Monday or Friday-Tuesday schedule. Weekend work is part of the job. A sixth day will be required in rare weeks where you were not deployed to the field for most of the week. Most days, you will be on site preparing for injections, operating robots, running support equipment, troubleshooting failures, and helping the team execute field work safely and quickly. The role will include moving heavy materials and equipment, some manual labor, and operating or supporting traditional field machinery such as loaders, forklifts, skid steers, trailers, pumps, generators, and other site equipment. You will work closely with mechanical engineers, embedded systems engineers, and senior forward deployed engineers to test new hardware, improve field procedures, suggest changes to robots, and make the system more reliable every week. You will also help improve our autopilot system by giving strong field feedback on robot behavior, sensors, controls, operator workflows, failure modes, and what needs to change for real deployments. A lot of the job involves tricky physical and mechanical work where the right answer is not obvious, the equipment is heavy, the environment is imperfect, and mistakes can damage equipment or create safety risks. We need someone who can think clearly, communicate well, and do hard things safely while still moving fast. Responsibilities * Deploy and operate Terranova’s field robots, injection systems, pumps, sensors, and support equipment * Operate or support traditional field equipment and heavy machinery * Prepare field sites for injection work, including setup, staging, surveying support, material handling, and cleanup * Move heavy equipment, materials, hoses, tools, and parts safely and efficiently * Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, controls, and field equipment issues * Test new hardware, tools, procedures, robot upgrades, and autonomy features with the engineering team * Help improve Terranova’s autopilot system by identifying field gaps, testing changes, and giving clear feedback to senior forward deployed engineers and embedded systems engineers * Support drilling, pumping, sensing, injection sequencing, and field data collection * Document work clearly, including equipment issues, repairs, test results, site conditions, field procedures, and lessons learned * Identify failure modes and suggest practical changes to robots, equipment, software, and field processes * Work through hard, ambiguous problems using first-principles thinking, including underground flow, pressure, injection behavior, soil response, and equipment performance * Maintain a high standard for safety, urgency, and quality in the field What we’re looking for We are looking for someone who is mechanically sharp, reliable, physically capable, and calm under pressure. What to to Expect Terranova is seeking a senior business development leader with a proven track record of both sales and project development. This person will own Terranova’s growth pipeline - building relationships with construction primes, agencies, congress, and partners - and translating large, complex opportunities into executable projects. You’ll work directly with Terranova’s leadership and lobbyist to identify target programs, shape proposals, and close high-impact deals spanning new development projects, wetland restoration, land resilience, base hardening, and coastal protection. You should be equally comfortable in a hard hat or a boardroom, able to move fluidly between technical teams, customers, and government stakeholders. The role is remote with strong preference for the SF Bay Area or Washington, D.C. The former to work in person with the team at our Berkeley office and the latter due to proximity to Washington D.C. We're Looking For a Staff Software Engineer – AI & Automation We're building a new Productivity Engineering team, and you'll be the founding engineer of an internal platform that lets non-engineers build, deploy, and host agents and applications. This means your decisions will shape the architecture, the developer experience, and the culture of the team for years to come. YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: Operating with an AI-first mindset, you will leverage AI, agents and technical logic to: * Architect and build the foundational platform that enables business users across the organisation to create, deploy, and manage internal applications and agents without requiring engineering support. * Own the end-to-end design of this platform, from infrastructure and hosting to the self-service interfaces and guardrails that make it safe and approachable for non-technical users. * Establish the patterns, integrations, and building blocks that connect to core enterprise systems and allow business teams to move quickly without compromising security or compliance. * Work closely with business stakeholders to translate operational needs into platform capabilities, ensuring the systems you build are not only technically sound but genuinely adopted. * Operate as a senior technical voice within a small, high-autonomy team, helping set architectural direction and raising the bar for how the team designs and delivers. REQUIREMENTS & TECHNICAL COMPETENCE * The Blueprint: Extensive track record as a Senior, Staff, or Principal Engineer, with a proven history of owning greenfield platforms, distributed systems, and backend scalability patterns. * Infrastructure & Platform: Deep production-scale GCP (compute, networking, IAM, managed services), Kubernetes, and Helm (designing for multi-tenancy). * Languages: Proficient in Go (primary), with comfort across the stack in TypeScript and/or Python. * Developer Experience (DX): Hands-on experience with GitOps, environment provisioning, infrastructure-as-code (Terraform), and enterprise security/IAM (SSO/Okta integration). * AI Integration: Experience integrating LLMs and agentic systems into production backends (Vertex AI, Gemini, OpenAI, MCP, or similar). * Product Mindset: Strong understanding of API design and a proven ability to design for non-technical users—you care about onboarding, UX, documentation, and what "easy to use" means in practice. Way of Working: Highly autonomous, comfortable with high ambiguity, and able to clearly present technical trade-offs to non-engineering stakeholders. The role As a Platform Engineer at Legora, you’ll join an enabling team focused on making life easier for developers. Your mission: improve reliability, boost performance, and build a rock-solid platform that scales with the company. You'll work hands-on across infrastructure and backend systems, helping teams ship faster, safer, and smarter. What you will be doing: * Build the core infrastructure and reliability abstractions that all our engineering teams use * Sit with all teams and help them structure their SRE efforts: observability, alerting, fault tolerance and reliability * Proactively monitor our infrastructure and develop it for hyperscale and reliability * Contribute to incident response and post-incident learning * Work with Pulumi on primarily Azure, but also AI deployments on AWS and GCP Who you are * You have years of experience as a backend engineer but have solid infrastructure, observability, monitoring know-how * Experience with Kubernetes * Experience with Pulumi (preferred) or similar IaC tools like AWS CDK, Terraform * But most importantly, you are someone who * “Gets stuff done” and understands building a $10bn company isn’t always glamorous and takes hard work and long hours * Proactively and independently solves the most burning problems * Strives in a fast-paced environment where the answers aren’t always clear and processes are few Legora is an Equal Opportunity Employer At Legora, we believe great teams are built on diversity of thought and experience.
