WHO WE ARE ABOUT STRIPE Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies—from the world's largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups—use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone's reach while doing the most important work of your career. ABOUT THE TEAM You'll work closely with several teams of engineers and PMs to shape products used by Stripe employees across engineering, operations, finance, and beyond. This is a high-impact role for a designer who finds as much satisfaction in untangling complex workflows and dense information architectures as in crafting polished interfaces. WHAT YOU'LL DO You'll take ownership of two spaces within our internal tooling portfolio—Developer Productivity, focused on ensuring every engineer at Stripe has the tools to be productive, and Collaboration, focused on knowledge discovery and communication at scale. You'll pair with an existing designer on the team to bring design quality and consistency to surfaces that are critical to how Stripe operates internally. RESPONSIBILITIES * Own end-to-end design for a portfolio of internal tools—from discovery and problem framing through interaction design, prototyping, and implementation support * Partner with engineering and product managers to define product requirements and translate them into clear, usable, and well-considered design solutions * Conduct lightweight research and usability sessions with internal users to validate decisions and surface unmet needs * Contribute to a consistent design language across our internal tools suite, working in close coordination with the Sail Design team and the Stripe design system * Make design trade-offs confidently, knowing when to go deep on craft and when to ship a pragmatic solution that moves the product forward * Help raise the bar for internal product design at Stripe, advocating for users who are often underserved compared to customer-facing surfaces WHO YOU ARE We're looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS * 5+ years of product design experience, with a portfolio that demonstrates strong UX thinking, clear visual craft, and an ability to navigate ambiguity * Experience designing tools for complex or data-heavy workflows—internal tools, developer tools, ops platforms, or similar are a strong plus * Comfortable working across the full design process—you can lead discovery, write a problem brief, design and prototype, and ship without needing every step handed to you * Strong systems thinker—you naturally look for patterns, reusable components, and structural solutions rather than one-off fixes * Collaborative and direct communicator. You share work early, give and receive feedback well, and know how to align cross-functional stakeholders * Proficient in Figma and comfortable working within or alongside a design system PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS * Experience designing for internal-facing or enterprise tooling environments * You've contributed to a design system, or worked closely to a design systems team * Exposure to information architecture challenges—navigation, search, and content modeling * Background in or interest in developer tooling, ops platforms, or workflow automation

Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone's reach while doing the most important work of your career. ABOUT THE TEAM The Product Design team is made up of several groups that define, create, and deliver all user-facing aspects of the Stripe brand and product. Product Designers are strategic partners to Engineering and Product Management within their product area. In close collaboration with product teams, they shape user experiences, then translate them into high-quality designs that can be tested, shipped, and refined. Designers are responsible for building elegant, functional products that users love—and want to tell others about. The Dashboard team ensures Stripe works seamlessly for every merchant—regardless of how their business is structured or which products they use. Our goal is to make Stripe feel like it was built just for them. WHAT YOU'LL DO In this role, you will help build and enhance the Stripe Dashboard by designing, concepting, and prototyping high-quality core dashboard and product experiences. RESPONSIBILITIES * Develop a deep understanding of the Stripe ecosystem, users, and UI to inform product direction * Deliver high-quality, user-centered designs that evolve core surfaces and elevate the overall user experience * Collaborate with designers, product managers, engineers, user researchers, and content designers to shape strategy and execution * Share work regularly in design reviews and actively contribute to a strong culture of feedback and iteration WHO YOU ARE We're looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS * 4+ years relevant design experience * A portfolio showcasing strong design skills with high-quality, well-crafted UI experiences * Experience partnering closely with product, engineering, and other cross-functional teams to drive product direction * Demonstrated ability to work horizontally across product verticals and collaborate upwards with team and company leadership * Demonstrated ability to wrangle lots of competing priorities, points of view, as well as user and business needs to come up with a solution PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS • Experience designing for a B2B or fintech product

AN OVERVIEW OF THIS ROLE You'll be at the forefront of shaping the future of AI-powered developer tools at GitLab. As a Senior Product Designer on the AI Product Design team, you'll help build the next generation of intelligent software development experiences, bringing rigorous design craft to some of the hardest interaction problems in the industry. You'll own the design process end-to-end: from ambiguous early exploration through to polished, shipped experiences. You'll design intuitive interfaces for AI agents, create seamless chat experiences for developers, and establish design patterns that make advanced AI capabilities feel natural and accessible, iterating continuously as the product and technology evolve together. Some examples of our projects: * Duo Workflow (AI agents across the SDLC) * Duo Chat (AI-powered DevSecOps assistant) * AI-powered code suggestions and review tools WHAT YOU'LL DO * Own the design process – Drive end-to-end design across GitLab's AI suite, from early exploration to polished execution. Create flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs that reflect strong craft and clear thinking. Know when AI is the right solution versus a traditional approach. * Ship and iterate – Break complex AI experiences into releases that fit GitLab's cadence without sacrificing quality. Define success criteria upfront, use evidence to drive decisions, and work closely with PM, Engineering, and Technical Writing to get things over the line. * Set the craft bar – Set quality standards through strong visual and interaction design, and provide constructive feedback that raises the level of work around you. * Define strategic direction – Bring validated user evidence and a strong point of view to roadmap discussions before direction is set. Use journey maps, storyboards, and design explorations to connect day-to-day work to a longer-term vision. * Enable the broader team – Help designers across the product understand and apply AI capabilities effectively in their own areas. Contribute AI-specific patterns to Pajamas Design System that others can build on, and share knowledge that raises the design quality of AI experiences across GitLab. * Mentor and grow – Guide other designers in developing their skills, participate in hiring by interviewing candidates and evaluating portfolios, and share what you know generously. WHAT YOU'LL BRING * A strong portfolio showing how you think and iterate, not just what shipped, ideally including AI/ML products, agentic workflows, or natural language interfaces where user control, transparency, and trust were key considerations. * Experience designing for AI workflows. You understand the unique challenges of multi-step, agentic, or automated processes and how to design for them effectively. * A high bar for craft. You care deeply about the details of interaction and visual design, and help others raise their standards too. * Experience conducting research and translating findings into clear, well-reasoned design decisions. * Proven ability to work iteratively in agile product development, balancing speed with quality and making smart tradeoffs without losing sight of the longer-term vision. * Experience designing in complex enterprise contexts, with working knowledge of Git, HTML/CSS, accessibility best practices, and design systems. * Excellent communication skills. You can simplify complexity, articulate design rationale clearly, and bring people along through your process. ABOUT THE TEAM The AI Product Design team is part of GitLab's broader UX organization, focused exclusively on creating exceptional experiences for AI-powered features across our DevSecOps platform. Our designers partner closely with AI Product Management and Engineering, as well as collaborators from across the entire product, from code creation to security scanning. The team faces fascinating challenges: How do you design collaboration between developers and AI agents? What does trust look like in AI-assisted code review? How do you make complex AI capabilities discoverable without overwhelming users? We're pioneering design patterns that the entire industry watches and learns from. The broader UX team values collaboration, iteration, and user empathy. Check out our Product Design page to learn more.
