What We're Looking For
We are seeking a Product Counsel who will be a key legal partner to our Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Content teams. You
will work closely with Privacy, IP, the Head of Product Legal and wider legal team to proactively guide product development and
feature launches from a regulatory, consumer protection, and IP compliance perspective.

ABOUT THE TEAM Stripe’s Product Legal team is responsible for managing the legal and regulatory elements of the design, build and execution of our products and services. We work on some of the hardest technical, commercial, and regulatory problems around, and we’re looking for a product lawyer to join our team. In this role you will be a key advisor to Stripe’s product, engineering and partnerships teams, and will work on a diverse set of matters that straddle financial services, business processes, and technology. The ideal candidate is passionate about Stripe’s mission of helping businesses grow and thrive. We’re looking for someone who is a team player and willing to jump in on tasks of any size. Stripe operates within a complex and interwoven legal, regulatory, and financial partnership environment around the world. Note: The annual Canadian base salary range for this role is $160,000 - $240,000. WHAT YOU’LL DO RESPONSIBILITIES * Serve as product counsel to Stripe’s Payments and Terminal product teams, helping to expand our product offerings, and developing deep subject matter expertise to handle escalations and questions related to Stripe Terminal products and services. * Counsel the Stripe product team on a range of issues including payments regulations, payment schemes rules, consumer protection, marketing, intellectual property, and data privacy. * Actively collaborate with a wide variety of Stripe teams, including engineering, compliance, business development, and marketing, on a range of issues related to product development and commercialization. * Work closely with colleagues across the Stripe legal team to clear key issues impacting the work of members of the team who support Stripe's regulatory structure, its customer agreements, and strategic financial partnerships. * Help build scalable and effective processes for legal review and launch of new products. * Draft, review, and update foundational documents for product and service offerings. * Stay up-to-date, with the support of Stripe’s legal subject matter experts, on U.S. and international laws and regulations dealing with privacy, data security, consumer protection, financial services, and marketing. * Participate as a proactive business partner to senior managers and build a trusted advisor relationship. WHO YOU ARE We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS * 5+ years of experience as a qualified lawyer working on complex regulatory or technology matters, preferably working with technology companies on the legal and regulatory aspects of product development in the technology space. * A passion for technology and ability to understand complex business models and product use cases quickly. * Strong communication (both written and verbal) and project management skills with a strict attention to detail. * Excellent project management skills and ability to work under tight deadlines. * Excellent judgment and the ability to make smart decisions in the face of ambiguity and imperfect information. IT’S A BONUS (BUT NOT REQUIRED) THAT YOU ALSO HAVE: * Relevant experience in financial technology, risk, payments, and financial services, and a working understanding of financial regulations and rules. * Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts (background in hardware, supply chain, and transportation/logistics agreements is preferred).
In Short On is looking for a pragmatic, business-minded lawyer to join our Legal Team as Senior Lead, Legal Counsel, AMER. In this role, you will be a trusted legal partner to the Americas business, advising on a broad range of commercial, marketing, employment, real estate, corporate and dispute-related matters. You will thrive here if you can independently manage complex work, anticipate issues before they escalate, and provide clear, practical advice in a fast-moving global business. Your Mission: * Advise the Americas regional team, including senior leadership, on a broad range of legal and commercial matters. * Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements, including sales, distribution, marketing, influencer, production, agency, venue and event agreements. * Support real estate, retail expansion and corporate matters across the region. * Partner with the Americas marketing team on brand campaigns, marketing materials, sponsorships, events and consumer-facing initiatives. * Collaborate with the Talent team on employment law matters. * Support regional data privacy and data protection matters in coordination with global Legal Team members. * Oversee disputes, litigation strategy and external counsel management. * Build scalable legal processes, playbooks and training to help the business move faster while managing risk. * Work closely with EMEA and APAC counsel and other global stakeholders to drive practical solutions that reflect both global priorities and regional requirements. * Support strategic Legal Team projects as needed. Your Story: * Law degree and 8+ years of post-qualification legal experience, including in-house experience. Experience at a global consumer-facing product company is preferred. * Strong commercial judgment, with the ability to balance legal risk and business objectives. * Excellent negotiation, communication and analytical skills. * Ability to provide clear, practical advice in high-pressure, fast-moving environments. * Collaborative style and strong relationship-building skills across diverse teams and stakeholders. * Process-minded and curious, with a track record of improving how legal work gets done. * Comfortable operating independently, prioritizing effectively and working across unfamiliar legal or business issues.
