Harmattan AI is a next-generation defense prime building autonomous and scalable defense systems. Following the close of a $200M
Series B, valuing the company at $1.4 billion, we are expanding our teams and capabilities to deliver mission-critical systems to
allied forces.
Our work is guided by clear values: building technologies with real-world impact, pursuing excellence in everything we do, setting
ambitious goals, and taking on the hardest technical challenges. We operate in a demanding environment where rigor, ownership, and
execution are expected.
About the Role
As we rapidly expand our engineering teams, we are simultaneously driving our hardware portfolio toward critical deployment and
mission-ready status. As the primary stakeholder for civil product compliance, you will maintain total ownership over the
certification of our entire hardware stack. This high-impact position demands a hands-on approach and deep cross-functional
collaboration to ensure commercial success. You will spearhead end-to-end certification initiatives across EU, US, UK and Canadian
markets, partnering with RF, engineering and testing teams in Paris and Lausanne.
Responsibilities
Determine which directives, standards and authorities apply per product variant and per target market. Maintain a live roadmap
back-calculated from delivery milestones and keep it current as the portfolio evolves.
Define test scopes, book and manage accredited laboratories, review setups on-site, and interpret emission and RF test results.
Cover CE marking (RED, LVD, EMC), FCC, UKCA, IC ISED, RoHS/REACH and UN 38.3 battery transport requirements. Where a product
fails, diagnose the cause and drive engineering to implement the necessary fix.
Author technical files, test evidence packages and declarations of conformity. Establish a documentation framework that scales
with the product portfolio and holds up to regulatory audit.
Attend design reviews to catch regulatory issues early. Work daily with mechanical, electronics and RF engineering teams -
serving as the go-to compliance authority across the organisation, not a gatekeeper at the end of the process.
Run change-impact assessments as designs evolve. Manage relationships with notified bodies and regulatory agencies. Keep
surveillance processes robust across the entire hardware lifecycle.
Candidate Requirements

We look forward to hearing how you can help shape the future of autonomous defense systems at Harmattan AI.

🎯 CONTEXT 250+ local authorities rely on Vizzia to keep their streets cleaner and safer. Behind every camera, every connected station, every accessory deployed in the field, there's a question that never goes away: will it still work in 18 months, in 3 years, in 5 years? Hardware quality isn't a checkpoint at the end of the line. It's a discipline that has to be present from R&D to supply chain, and shared across every member of the hardware team. Today, hardware quality is handled in addition to other responsibilities. The team needs someone whose entire focus is to set the standard, build the processes, and make sure they're applied — on our products, with our suppliers, and over time. The hardware scope at Vizzia covers cameras, stations, accessories, all the way through to deployment with manufacturing partners in China. You'll report to David, the hardware team's lead. The role is transversal: no direct reports today, but expected to scale into a small quality team in the medium term. Your mission is to bring quality discipline to every step of Vizzia's hardware development, from design choices to field reliability, and to make it a shared standard, not a constraint imposed from the outside. 🛠️ RESPONSABILIES 1. Define and own the hardware quality plan * Build a complete quality plan covering all Vizzia hardware products, with clear deliverables for each hardware function * Set quality standards and acceptance criteria that everyone in the team can refer to * Make sure the plan is shared, understood, and applied, not a document that lives in a drive 2. Set up processes across the development chain * Write, share and roll out quality processes across the full hardware development chain * Create the internal and external templates the team and suppliers will use day-to-day (test plans, audits, non-conformity reports, certification documentation) * Train and challenge the hardware team to embed these processes into their work 3. Run the hardware test plans * Define test plans for every Vizzia hardware product * Make sure plans are run systematically before products reach production * Trace results so nothing falls through the cracks 4. Drive supplier quality, including on-site in China * Set up structured supplier quality control, starting with Altior and extending to other manufacturing partners * Lead audits, define corrective action plans, follow them to closure * Travel to China around twice a year to audit suppliers and align on quality expectations on the ground * Bring down defect rates by 30 to 40% on current production 5. Secure certifications and field reliability * Make sure documentation tied to certifications (CE in particular) is complete, up-to-date and audit-ready at any moment * Build the traceability that lets us reconstruct the full history of any product version, any evolution, any non-conformity * Improve field reliability over time, longer mean time to failure, fewer field returns ✅ PROFILE * Min 5 years of experience in hardware quality engineering, in industries where quality really matters * You've worked in highly regulated industries (medical, defense, aerospace) and know what real quality discipline looks like * You master CE standards and can take a product through certification without surprises * You've audited and worked with manufacturing suppliers, ideally including in China, and you're comfortable traveling there * You combine rigor with diplomacy: hardware teams don't usually love quality, and you know how to bring them on board without becoming the quality police * You're patient and tenacious : quality is a long game, and you don't give up when the short-term pressure builds At Vizzia, we care about precision, ownership and getting things to work in the real world. We're looking for someone who's genuinely interested in what reliable hardware means for the public sector. BENEFITS 🏡 Hybrid work 🏝 Contrat cadre and RTT (between 8 and 12 days per year depending on public holidays) 💻 A Mac or PC depending on your preferences 💸 60-80 package +BSPCE 🍜 60% coverage of meal vouchers worth €9 per worked day 🚃/🚲 Sustainable mobility allowance 🏥 Mutuelle (Alan) 💼 Offices located in central Paris (9th arrondissement) ☀️ Annual offsite with the whole team and plenty of company events If you've read this far, you're probably very interested in the role and/or Vizzia. We'd like to hear from you even if you feel ou don't check every box.
