We’re hiring a Growth Engineer to join our founding team and own technical distribution. This role sits at the intersection of
engineering, product, and GTM, and is focused on shipping real technical artifacts that earn developer attention and drive
adoption.
This is a hands-on engineering role. You will be writing code.
Document processing is exploding. Developers are actively evaluating tools and asking: what actually works?
Your job is to answer that question publicly and credibly.

The Squarespace Domains Growth organization is looking for a Frontend Staff Software Engineer to lead large initiatives and develop the technical strategy for our platforms. Squarespace Domains supports millions of Domains customers – a community of dreamers, entrepreneurs, and pro-level users all seeking to establish their online presence - you'll work on products used by millions, with a direct and measurable impact on their success. As an engineer in the Domains Growth organization, you will be part the effort to build several core capabilities in the domain space including: Front Site Landing Page for Squarespace Domains and other traffic entry points, domain search, reseller opportunities, pricing strategy, cross-sell, conversion, checkout, and other growth areas in premium and expired domains. You will collaborate closely with engineering, product and design to build systems that focus on increasing revenue, customer acquisition, and conversion. This is a hybrid role working from our New York City office 3 days per week and you will report into the Domains Growth Engineering Manager. YOU’LL GET TO… * Serve as a key technical leader, driving the architecture, design, and implementation of critical frontend systems and client platforms * Provide hands-on guidance to multiple engineering teams, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, scalable, and maintainable frontend solutions * Design, develop, and maintain advanced user interfaces and reusable components using modern frameworks and libraries * Collaborate with product managers, UX/UI designers, and backend engineers to define and build new features * Act as a mentor and role model for junior and mid-level engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning * Drive architectural decisions and lead technical discussions to ensure the long-term health of our frontend platform * Champion best practices in code quality, accessibility, performance, and testing. * Stay current with emerging trends and technologies, and proactively identify opportunities for innovation WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR * Have 8+ years of professional experience in frontend web development * Have a proven track record of designing and implementing complex, high-performance, and scalable web applications, in collaboration with multiple teams and stakeholders * Demonstrate the ability to lead technical projects and mentor other engineers * Have experience with HTML5, CSS3, and modern JavaScript frameworks such as React, Vue, or Angular * Have a strong understanding of web performance, security, and accessibility principles * Are familiar with server-side rendering (SSR) and static site generation (SSG) * Are familiar with cloud platforms (e.g., Google Cloud, AWS, Azure). In addition to the cash compensation above (which includes base salary and, where applicable for eligible roles, may include overtime pay), Squarespace employees are eligible to be granted an option to purchase our common stock. Sales positions generally offer a competitive On Target Earnings (OTE) incentive structure in addition to base salary. TSEs work closely with Plaid’s product and engineering teams, and we have a high technical bar to ensure that we all speak the same language. Our Support team sets aggressive goals to meet the standards our customers expect, and we collaborate cross-functionally with our Engineering, Product, Financial Access, and Go-to-Market teams in order to achieve these goals. Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs, as well as intuitive, high-quality frontend applications that bring those systems to life. * Collaborate cross-functionally. Partner closely with product managers and designers to define requirements and deliver features that solve real customer problems. * Maintain high code quality. Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code, and participate in code reviews and technical design discussions. * Test and debug. Build automated tests, monitor system performance, and troubleshoot issues in production environments. * Contribute to system design. Engage in hands-on coding and architectural decisions to ensure reliability, security, and scalability. * Grow the team. Support a strong engineering culture through mentorship, thoughtful reviews, and shared ownership of technical standards. Qualifications: * 5+ years of software engineering experience with a track record of shipping production systems or features * Experience building backend services using relational databases such as MySQL, and working with microservices or service-oriented architectures * Strong working knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern frontend frameworks or libraries, with comfort building user-facing experiences * Solid system design, coding, and testing skills across both frontend and backend * Proven ability to collaborate effectively with product, design, and other engineering partners * Experience mentoring or supporting the growth of other engineers through reviews, guidance, or leadership * Comfortable working across product, operations, and data teams to deliver end-to-end solutions Our mission at Plaid is to unlock financial freedom for everyone.
