About the Role As a staff engineer for backend services at Redpin, you will be working on the designing, creating and running the product catalogue for some of our greenfield new products. We have a long roadmap ahead of us and rarely run out of interesting problems to tackle. To name some of the products we are running – we have our own core account/payments infrastructure adapted to a variety of customer segments such as Legal, Real Estate and Notaries. We work in full-stack teams, grouped under common domains. As staff engineer you will work on early engineering phases to lay the groundwork for the teams in your area. What You'll Do * Own the Architecture: Define, align, and maintain the target architecture for your domain, ensuring all services and projects follow best practices and long-term technical vision. * Design & Develop Systems: Build robust, scalable backend services using Java and Spring Boot * Build & Enhance APIs: Design, develop, and maintain high-quality APIs powering web and mobile experiences. * Drive Performance & Security: Ensure systems meet high standards for performance, reliability, and security across all layers. * Integrate Cloud Technologies: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate and optimize cloud services within the platform. * Champion Code Quality: Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code and establish coding standards for the team. * Lead Through Influence: Partner closely with the Engineering Manager and other engineers to deliver architectural designs effectively and consistently. * Mentor & Upskill: Guide, mentor, and support engineers through code reviews, technical discussions, and continuous improvement initiatives. * Elevate Engineering Practices: Advocate for best practices in CI/CD, observability, testing, and automation across the team. What You’ll Need * 8+ years of experience building large-scale backend or full-stack applications. * Deep expertise in a backend framework such as Spring / Spring Boot. * Strong problem-solving skills and passion for building user-centric, scalable systems. * Solid understanding of Object-oriented programming & design patterns, Exception handling, memory management, Spring components (controllers, services, repositories, security) * Proficiency in RESTful API design and development. * Ability to think strategically, break down complex problems, and drive cross-team alignment. * Strong communication and organizational skills to influence engineering direction. * Create and Review architectures, code, and design proposals to ensure high standards and alignment. * Work closely with product, design, and cross-functional teams to deliver user-centric solutions. * Identify bottlenecks and drive improvements in system performance, reliability, and maintainability. * Champion engineering best practices, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives. * Collaborate on long-term architectural strategies and technical roadmaps. Bonus Points * Mastery over Java’s core APIs, such as collections, streams, and concurrency frameworks. * Experience working in a B2B fintech environment would be an added advantage. In short: As the Director of Real Estate Development at On, you will oversee, expand, and optimize On's real estate portfolio. The team includes leasing, design, construction, facility operations, safety, health, asset protection. Leading a team with a cross-functional focus, you'll ensure our retail, showroom, and office spaces align with On's brand identity, fostering a premium experience. Your Mission: Lease Strategy and Implementation: -Build the scalable expansion strategy and planning across offline channels(DTC & FMS) in APAC to fuel the success of On’s long-term vision -Lead the full lifecycle of real estate development projects in APAC without broker: site strategy, lease negotiation, construction, design execution, and opening readiness. -Own and drive the in-house leasing function, overseeing site sourcing, negotiation, and deal closure without dependency on external brokers or agencies. -Define and execute the regional real estate roadmap in alignment with global & region expansion strategies and localized market needs. - Ensure consistent governance of real estate investments and development KPIs. - Drive continuous improvement in cost, speed, quality, and customer experience across all real estate touchpoints. Design & Construction Management - Design and Construction Management of Real Estate Assets including direct-to-consumer (DTC), franchise partner stores (FMS), retail partner shop-in-shops (B2B), offices, and showrooms - Collaborate closely with the global design, retail and office teams to ensure brand consistency and support of local requirements and needs - Establish a strong link between construction activities and production procurement which is managed by the indirect procurement team, also ensuring tight cost control in partnership with our FP&A and Controlling teams Facilities Management: - Oversee facility management for all real estate assets, ensuring operational efficiency and compliance with safety and health standards - Support office management across the globe by implementing standards that can be leveraged by the regional teams - Manage asset protection, which is especially relevant for the growing own retail fleet Financial and Risk Management: - Develop and manage budgets for real estate projects, including design, construction, renovation, and ongoing operational expenses - Monitor financial performance against targets and implement cost-saving measures when necessary - Assess, manage, and develop risk mitigation strategies associated with real estate investments, including market fluctuations and other potential factors Lead a high performing team: * Lead and develop a high-performing multi-function team to achieve On’s business goals for your geographic market, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Your Story: - 15+ years of experience in retail real estate development, retail design, and retail construction management - 10+ year extensive experience in managing real estate brand groups - 8+ years of experience building and leading high-performing teams with the ability to motivate and inspire teams to achieve goals - Experience optimizing real estate portfolios for high-growth premium global retail brands - Knowledgeable in various microcultures, landlord landscape, and physical landscapes of the metropolitan areas within the region - Knowledgeable in local regulations and compliance requirements for real estate operations within the region
