Director, Professional Services - Architecture & Data Engineering Services

As a Delivery Solutions Architect (DSA), you will play a critical role during this journey. The DSA works across a small number of our largest or highest potential key accounts, collaborating across Databricks teams to accelerate the adoption and growth of the Databricks platform. As a DSA, you will help ensure customer success by driving focus and technical accountability to our most complex customers who need guidance to accelerate consumption on Databricks workloads that they have already selected. This is a hybrid technical and commercial role. It is commercial in the sense that you will be required to own and drive growth in your assigned customers and use cases through leading your customers' stakeholders, owning executive relationships and creating and driving plans and strategies for Databricks colleagues to execute upon. This is in parallel to being technical, with expectations being that you become at least Level 200 across all Databricks products/workloads and that you become the Use Case-specific technical lead post Technical Win. You will bring strong executive relationship management skills and high levels of technical credibility to effectively engage and communicate at all levels with an organization, in particular with a track record of building strong relationships with the customers' executives and C-suite, elevating the conversation, and helping them realize the value of Databricks. You will report directly to a Director, Field Engineering, as part of your Business Unit's Technical GM organization. You will play a key role in establishing the fundamental assets and best practices within the DSA team, mentoring other DSAs and wider account team members within your region, helping them develop personally, professionally and to further their careers. The impact you will have: * Engage with the Solutions Architect to understand the full Use Case Demand Plan for prioritized customers. * Own the Post-Technical Win technical account strategy and investment plan for the majority of Databricks Use Cases within our most strategic accounts. * Be the accountable technical leader assigned to specific Use Cases and customer(s) across multiple selling teams and internal stakeholders, creating certainty from uncertainty/ambiguity and driving onboarding, enablement, success, go-live and healthy consumption of the workloads where the customer has made the decision to consume Databricks. * Be the first point of contact for any technical issues or questions related to production/go live status of agreed upon Use Cases within an account, oftentimes services multiple use cases within the largest and most complex organizations. * Leverage both Shared Services of User Education, Onboarding/Technical Services and Support resources, along with escalating to Level 400/500 technical experts (Specialist Solution Architects and Product Specialists) to execute on the right tasks that are beyond your scope of activities or expertise. * Create, own and execute a PoV as to how key use cases can be accelerated into production, bringing EM/PM in to prepare Professional Services proposals. * Navigate Databricks Product and Engineering teams for New Product Innovations, Private Previews and Upgrade needs (DBR, E2 and Unity Catalog). * Build and maintain an executive level as well as a detailed programme level success plan that covers all activities of Customer, PS, Partner, SSA, Product Specialist, SA to cover the below workstreams: * Key use cases moving from 'win' to production * Enablement / user growth plan * Product adoption (strategy and activities to increase adoption of LH vision) * Organic needs for current investment Eg. Cloud Cost control, Tuning & Optimization * Executive and operational governance * Proactively provide internal and external updates - KPI reporting on the status of consumption and customer health, covering investment status, key risks, product adoption and use case progression - to your Technical GM * Development of reusable and scalable assets and mentorship of junior team members to establish the DSA team What we look for: * 8+ years in a customer-facing pre-sales, technical architecture, customer success, or consulting role * Experience understanding architecture related distributed data systems, specifically within one of the following: * Data Engineering technologies (e.g. Spark, Hadoop, Kafka) * Data Warehousing (e.g. SQL, OLTP/OLAP/DSS) * Data Science and Machine Learning technologies (e.g. pandas, scikit-learn, HPO) * Comfortable managing multiple projects at once, and engaging a virtual team of subject matter experts to address any onboarding or technical challenges outside of your remit or bandwidth. * Influencing and leading teams - especially without having direct reporting line responsibility for individuals within account and leadership teams, both internally and externally * Executive Stakeholder management - experience in effectively engaging and influencing a variety of audiences (technical, non technical) at all levels of an organization with particular success in building and maintaing strong CxO level relationship * Executive escalation management - experience in resolving complex and critical escalation with senior customer and internal executives * Strategic Management Consulting - experience of conducting open-ended discovery workshops, creating strategic roadmaps, conducting business analysis and managing delivery of complex programmes/projects * Building and steering to a value case - business value consulting and realization * Quota ownership, achievement and track record of great performance against objective target * Proficient in both Korean and English (Native level Korean and Business level English) verbally and in writing About Databricks Databricks is the data and AI company. You will engage with customers to migrate from legacy data platforms, including those based on Cloudera, and build modern data pipelines and lakehouse solutions on Snowflake where customers can then leverage downstream AI and Machine Learning solutions. You will act as the technical lead and expert for our customers throughout this process, guiding customers through decision paths to achieve impactful outcomes and thoughtfully use AI to augment their business In addition to customer engagements, you will work with our internal team to provide requirements for our Snowconvert utility, based on project experiences. This ensures that our tooling is continuously improved based on our implementation experience. This role will report to the Director of specialised Workload Solutions team within the PS&T organization at Snowflake. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Delivery * Be well-versed in migrations of applications, code, and data onto cloud platforms - and how to lead design of the subsequent services onto Snowflake, including lakehouse architectures using Iceberg * Have the ability to outline the architecture of Spark, Scala, and Cloudera environments. * Guide customers on architecting and building data engineering pipelines on Snowflake, including streaming data ingestion and processing * Design and implement data ingestion and transformation pipelines using Apache NiFi. Architect and implement Iceberg based lakehouse solutions on Snowflake * Run workshops and design sessions with stakeholders and customers * Troubleshoot migration and implementation issues * Create repeatable processes and documentation as a result of customer engagement. Scripting using Python and shell scripts for ETL workflow * Develop best practices, including ensuring knowledge transfer so that customers are properly enabled and are able to extend the capabilities of Snowflake on their own * Provide guidance on how to resolve customer-specific technical challenges * Outline a testing strategy and plan * Optimize Snowflake for performance and cost * Design and implement solutions for streaming data ingestion and processing Product Strategy * Communicate requirements for capabilities on Snowpark conversion for Scala/Python and Spark based back end software modules * Communicate requirements for design and development of back end big data frameworks for enhancements to our Snowpark platform * Weigh in on and develop frameworks for Distributed Computing, Apache Spark, PySpark, Python, HBase, Kafka, REST based API, and Machine Learning as part of our tools development (Snowconvert) and overall modernization processes * Provide input on Snowflake's Lakehouse capabilities and integration with Iceberg * Coach and guide customers on how to best use Snowflake’s suite of AI Tools OUR IDEAL SOLUTIONS ARCHITECT WILL HAVE: * Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline or equivalent practical experience * 7+ years of experience in a customer-facing technical role dealing with complex, technical implementation projects and with a proven track record of delivering results with multi-party, multi-year digital transformation engagements * Experience in Data Warehousing, Business Intelligence, application modernisation, lakehouse implementations, or Cloud projects, including building realtime and batch data pipelines using Apache Spark and Apache NiFi * Experience with implementing Apache Iceberg or other open table format(Delta, Hudi) based lakehouse solutions * Experience with streaming data technologies and patterns * Experience with Cloudera platform and migrations from Cloudera * Familiarity with AI/ML and Transformation technologies * Familiarity with ML Ops standard practices * Familiarity with prompt engineering techniques * Ability to deliver outcomes for customers in a new arena and with a new product set * Ability to learn new technology and build repeatable solutions/processes * Ability to anticipate project roadblocks and have mitigation plans in-hand * Proven ability to communicate and translate effectively across multiple groups from design and engineering to client executives and technical leaders * Outstanding skills presenting to both technical and executive audiences, whether impromptu on a whiteboard or using presentations * Ability and flexibility to travel to work with customers on-site as needed Every Snowflake employee is expected to follow the company’s confidentiality and security standards for handling sensitive data.
