Every year millions of people are either filing their taxes in fear or giving up on their tax refund altogether. We're working on
fixing that. Our intuitive app enables anyone, regardless of education or background, to file their taxes with newfound

Spread across Germany, Spain and the UK, the team at Taxfix Group with its brands Taxfix, Steuerbot and TaxScouts, is a
compassionate group of solution-finders. We speak our minds openly, and with over 400 professionals, including tax experts,
developers, and IT security experts, we're rich in ideas and voices. The group has facilitated more than 3.5 billion euros in tax
refunds for its customers since its founding in 2016.

Builders. At Taxfix, we’re rebuilding our R&D organization around this idea. We call these people builders.
A Builder has a primary craft, one they’re genuinely excellent at, but they don’t stop there. They stretch across product, design,
and engineering as the situation demands, using AI to cover the gaps. They’re accountable to outcomes, not job descriptions.
Taxfix has put €5 billion back into our customers’ pockets and we aren’t stopping there. We operate in Germany, Spain, and the UK,
and we’re in the middle of a genuine AI transformation in how we build and how we’re organized.
In a world where it’s easier than ever to get software to 75%, with AI-generated UI, no-code tools, and rapid prototyping, the
last 25% is where everything is decided. That gap between “good enough” and “unforgettable” is where great designers live. If you
find handoffs frustrating because you can already see what needs to happen next, this role is for you.

OUR STORY: Every year millions of people are either filing their taxes in fear or giving up on their tax refund altogether. We're working on fixing that. Our intuitive app enables anyone, regardless of education or background, to file their taxes with newfound confidence. Spread across Germany, Spain and the UK, the team at Taxfix Group with its brands Taxfix, Steuerbot and TaxScouts, is a compassionate group of solution-finders. We speak our minds openly, and with over 400 professionals, including tax experts, developers, and IT security experts, we're rich in ideas and voices. The group has facilitated more than 3.5 billion euros in tax refunds for its customers since its founding in 2016. YOUR OPPORTUNITY: AI is shifting how the best products get built. The handoffs between product, design, and engineering are slowing us down. The companies moving fastest are doing it with people who own the full loop, from the user problem to the shipped feature, without losing the thread. At Taxfix, we’re rebuilding our R&D organization around this idea. We call these people builders. A Builder has a primary craft, one they’re genuinely excellent at, but they don’t stop there. They stretch across product, design, and engineering as the situation demands, using AI to cover the gaps. They’re accountable to outcomes, not job descriptions. Taxfix has put €5 billion back into our customers’ pockets and we aren’t stopping there. We operate in Germany, Spain, and the UK, and we’re in the middle of a genuine AI transformation in how we build and how we’re organized. Assume there’s no designer to give you a Figma file. No engineer to hand the spec to. The magic is knowing what to build, why, and in what order, then making it happen. If building the thing sounds more natural to you than describing it, this role is for you. YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DECISIONS: * Take a user problem from rough idea to shipped product. Write the brief, design the flow, prototype it, and get it in front of users, with as few handoffs as possible. Own the full loop. * Compress research, synthesis, and spec-writing from weeks into hours. You reach for AI tools not because you’ve been asked to, but because they’re faster. You know when to trust the output, when to edit it, and when to reject it. Use AI as a force multiplier. * You structure fuzzy problems, identify what should and shouldn’t be built, and move forward when there are dozens of possible directions. The magic is in the trade-offs, not the feature list. Turn ambiguous ideas into things users can trust. * No layers, no waiting. You’ll work closely with two or three other people who share the same model. Work in small, focused teams. * You know the metric your team is trying to move. You measure your week by what changed in user behaviour, not by how many tickets moved to Done. Be accountable to outcomes, not roadmaps. * You give feedback directly, to anyone, regardless of level. You raise blockers early and in the open. Push back when something’s wrong. Team player who raises the bar. * The PM who builds the prototype instead of describing it. Who writes the SQL query instead of waiting for an analyst. Who reads the API spec before assuming something is impossible. Who writes code to get it into the hands of users faster. That instinct is what we’re hiring for. Stretch beyond product. YOUR PROFILE: YOUR CRAFT * You have a genuine product craft and a track record to prove it. You’ve shipped things that real people use, and you can point to the metric that moved when you did. * You have a builder track record: you’ve made things with AI, not just written specs about them. Shipped products, agent workflows, or tools real users have touched. Any of these count. * You’re AI-native by default. You use tools like Claude, Cursor, Lovable, or similar regularly. You follow the AI product space closely and you know the difference between a demo and something production-ready. * You’ve built personal AI workflows that make you meaningfully faster. You know when to trust AI output, when to edit it, and when to reject it. * You’ve gone from user problem to testable prototype without waiting for a brief to be written for you. The output was good enough that a team shipped from it. * Low PM baggage: you’re not attached to how product management "should" be done. You care about outcomes, not territory. YOUR RANGE * Across all three disciplines, you can hold your own: in Product you can identify opportunities, assess impact, and prioritize ruthlessly. In Design, you have taste: you know when something looks right but feels wrong. In Engineering, you’ve used AI coding tools to build something real, and you’re not dependent on an engineer to tell you why it’s broken. HOW YOU WORK * Data fluency: you know the metric you were trying to move, and you can say whether you moved it, with healthy skepticism about what metrics do and don’t tell you. * You believe in experimentation and ship with velocity to learn quickly. You know your way around AB tests and are excited to try new data science models to learn faster. * You’ve worked on products where getting it wrong has real consequences for real people, and that raised your bar, not lowered it. * You’ve found a way through blockers rather than waiting to be unblocked. When something was genuinely impossible, you documented why and moved on. * Fluency in English is required. THIS ROLE IS NOT FOR YOU IF… * You’re not genuinely excited about being able to stretch across design and engineering functions. * You’ve never built an AI prototype and/or shipped code (vibe coded side project counts) * You pride yourself in what you delivered rather than the outcome you achieved. * You need certainty, a full brief, or someone else’s research to get started. * You don’t believe in fast learning and getting things into customers hands early and use WHY TAXFIX? * A chance to do meaningful, people-centric work with an international team of passionate professionals. * Holistic well-being with free mental health coaching sessions and yoga. * A monthly allowance to spend on an extensive range of services that you can use and roll over as flexibly as you like. * Employee stock options for all employees—because everyone deserves to benefit from the success they help to create. * 30 annual vacation days and flexible working hours. * Work from abroad for up to six weeks every year. Just align with your team, and then enjoy your trip. * Plenty of opportunities to socialise as a team. In addition to internal tech meetups, our international team hosts regular get-togethers—virtually and in person when possible. * Free tax declaration filing, of course, through the Taxfix app—and internal support for all personal tax-related questions. * Have a four-legged friend in your life? We’re happy to have dogs join us in the office. Excited? So are we. Learn more about Team Taxfix on our blog and get a glimpse of our culture. YOUR OPPORTUNITY: AI is fundamentally changing how people optimize their taxes. The playbook that built our self-filing business over the last decade won't be the one that grows it over the next five. This role exists to write the new one. Taxfix's self-filing product is what put us on the map nearly 10 years ago, and it remains the core of our business today spanning both the Taxfix and Steuerbot brands in Germany. But the market is shifting fast: consumer expectations, competitive dynamics, and the products themselves are all being reshaped by AI. As Director of Product for Self-Filing, you will own our core self-filing product lines. You set the product vision, lead the strategy, and drive the quality of execution across a set of high-autonomy Builder teams. You work as a duo with the Commercial leader of your business area. The Commercial leader owns the what, why, and how much. The Director of Product owns the how — the product vision, the roadmap, the craft, and the delivery. You'll report directly to the Chief Product Officer, with full senior sponsorship to move fast and make the big calls. YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DECISIONS: * Own the product vision and roadmap. You set the product direction for self-filing in Germany and make it clear to the builders working with you, to your commercial partner, and to leadership. You make trade-offs visible and hold the line when priorities need protecting. * Shape the two-brand strategy. Taxfix and Steuerbot are two trusted brands serving the same market. You'll play a central role in how they evolve: where they converge and where they stay distinct. * Build the AI-native product. You've been applying AI as a design lens, not following the trend. You have a clear POV on where AI removes genuine cognitive load in the filing journey and where it's noise. You push the team to build experiences that weren't possible 18 months ago and to reimagine filing itself: from a once-a-year event into a year round optimization experience. * Grow beyond filing into wealth creation. This area is evolving from a once-a-year filing product into a broader, year-round financial relationship. You'll help shape and build the relationship to adjacent financial services that deepen value for users and give them a reason to stay with us between filing seasons. * Be the definitive authority on the user. You've done more user interviews than most of the team combined. You describe your users as people, not segments, and you use that to kill bad ideas early and back good ones hard. Your instincts come from direct contact, not distance. * Lead your Builder teams. Small, high-autonomy teams who own the full loop from idea to production. You set the bar for craft, give them a vision sharp enough to act on, and create the conditions where ambitious work and fast execution coexist. You raise the floor and push the ceiling. * Prioritise ruthlessly in a competitive market. This is a fiercely contested space with strong, sometimes free, alternatives. You decide what not to do as clearly as what to do, and you grow the product through focus, not by trying to do everything. * Push the team on experimentation. You treat experimentation as an engine of product decisions, not a nice-to-have. A/B tests, bandits, and how fast the team can run, read, and act on experiments are first-class metrics you own and push relentlessly. * Be the commercial partner, not the commercial owner. Your duo partner owns the P&L. Your job is to translate their ambition into a product that can deliver it and to push back clearly when the product path and the commercial ask don't align. You hold the quality bar even when the pressure is to ship faster or cut corners. * Own delivery transparency. What's in flight, what's at risk, what's shipping and when. If something will be late or descoped, you say so early to your teams, your partner, and upward. No surprises. YOUR PROFILE: * You've led product at a high-growth B2C consumer tech company and delivered results under real commercial pressure. You've owned a multi-team product area, not a single feature stream. * You've grown a major product line in a fiercely competitive market and you know how to decide what not to do. * You optimise for the company's outcome, not your org's size. You've made calls that were right for the user and the business even when they didn't maximise your own product area. * You've built something real users love and you can describe exactly why it worked, what metric moved, and what you'd do differently. * You've shipped AI products that changed user behaviour. In production, used at scale. * You've led people and raised the bar. People who've worked with you got better, and you can name how. * You believe experimentation is key to products that win. You're fluent in testing methods (A/B, bandits), you treat experimentation velocity as a metric that matters, and you make calls from evidence rather than opinion. * You've built a product vision from scratch and got an organization to follow it because the argument was clear, not because of authority. * You've made hard trade-offs visible and held the line when everything felt urgent. * You are genuinely AI-native. You use AI in your own practice daily with workflows, coding assistants, real product problems as a way of working. * You're fluent in English and German, given the primary market and the teams you'll lead. WHY TAXFIX? * A chance to do meaningful, people-centric work with an international team of passionate professionals. * Holistic well-being with free mental health coaching sessions and yoga. * A monthly allowance to spend on an extensive range of services that you can use and roll over as flexibly as you like. * Employee stock options for all employees—because everyone deserves to benefit from the success they help to create. * 30 annual vacation days and flexible working hours. * Work from abroad for up to six weeks every year. In addition to internal tech meetups, our international team hosts regular get-togethers—virtually and in person when possible. * Free tax declaration filing, of course, through the Taxfix app—and internal support for all personal tax-related questions. * Have a four-legged friend in your life? THE ENVIRONMENT We work from our office in Berlin, Greifswalder Strasse 212. Everyone works together in person because the hardest problems get solved faster at a whiteboard than in a Slack thread. Conversations happen faster, problems get solved quicker, and we actually know each other. Days start at 8:30. Lunch & dinner are together. We run, go to the gym, and take care of ourselves. Health is not separate from work here, it is part of how we work well. The vibe is calm but intense. No one is yelling or panicking. But everyone is working hard on things that matter. COMPENSATION Salaries are transparent and tied to levels, not negotiation. All roles include equity. We will figure out the right level together based on your experience and scope. Levels are about the work you own, not your title or years of experience. We narrow down the expected salary range early in the process. NEXT STEPS We move fast. Most processes complete within two weeks. If this sounds like your kind of work, we would like to meet you.
