THE ROLE Alan’s Insurance Compliance Counsel, you will be Alan's expert on members' insurance compliance and consumer protection regulation. You will define how regulatory obligations translate into Alan's tools, processes, and products. You will own the compliance posture on your perimeter, proactively manage our exposure, and be the primary interface with regulators on the topics you cover. You will also be a key connector between the compliance function, internal control, and the audit processes Alan conducts - ensuring audit findings are properly digested, remediated, and embedded into how we operate. As Alan expands into new markets, you will play a central role in ensuring our compliance standards travel with us: adapting Group frameworks to local requirements and helping stand up the right compliance foundations in new geographies. The role sits within the Legal Area in the Corporate Unit, and involves close daily collaboration with the Legal, Insurance, Operations, Sales, Care, and Product teams across all of Alan's markets. WHAT YOU WILL DO Own Alan's Insurance Compliance Posture * Define how regulatory obligations relating to Alan’s core product (IDD including duty of advice, product governance, AML/CFT, etc.) translate into Alan's operational processes, product design, and tooling * Suggest optimal ways to meet regulatory requirements within Alan's products while improving members' experience - from pricing components and options design to UX choices and complaint handling * Proactively identify compliance risks, assess their exposure, and develop mitigating action plans in coordination with internal stakeholders * Lead the structuring and continuous improvement of Alan's complaints management framework across France, Belgium, and Spain, ensuring compliance with ACPR recommendations and local equivalents Reporting & Audits * Serve as the compliance function's key contributor to Alan's internal control system: document compliance-related risks and controls in the Group's centralised mapping, and co-deploy the internal control approach across teams (Insurance, Operations, Sales, Care) * Prepare and support internal and external audits: assess Alan's standing against planned operational improvements, define remediation plans, and drive and monitor their effective implementation * Report on compliance obligations and risk exposure to Alan's Board and governance committees, with clarity and foresight; Manage regulatory reporting obligations including the ACPR Questionnaire Protection de la Clientèle (QPC) * Respond to regulatory inspections (ACPR, FSMA, or equivalent in Alan’s operating countries), coordinating internally and ensuring Alan is always audit-ready AML/CFT & KYC * Support the AML framework: conduct second-level analysis on suspicious cases, manage relationships with regulatory bodies and financial intelligence units, approve high-risk client relationships (including PEPs), and maintain the AML/CFT risk assessment framework * Oversee KYC Ops referents' training and upskilling, including Belgium-specific AML requirements * Coordinate with the AMLO on annual priorities, documentation, monitoring tools, and regulatory reporting to the ACPR and equivalent supervisors Compliance Roadmap & Stakeholder Coordination * Maintain Alan's compliance roadmap: prioritise, track progress, update the risk mapping, and re-prioritise as the regulatory environment evolves * Lead compliance projects with internal stakeholders across Insurance, Product, Sales, Care, and Operations, translating regulatory requirements into concrete deliverables and timelines * Contribute to pragmatic compliance positions on regulatory requirements that affect our products and contracts - turning complex constraints into well-reasoned, pragmatic solutions that support the business. Regulatory Training & Internal Capability * Design and maintain mandatory regulatory training programmes for Sales and Care roles (IDD competency requirements including duty of advice and product governance, Loi Evin, AML/CFT) * Build internal compliance frameworks, guidelines, and decision-making tools that increase team autonomy and reduce reliance on external resources * Contribute to Alan's written culture by producing high-quality documentation that teams can rely on independently International Compliance & Localisation * Ensure Alan's compliance standards travel consistently across all Group markets, whether existing (France, Belgium, Spain, Canada) or newly opened, adapting Group frameworks to local regulatory requirements and deploying them locally in coordination with local counsel. PROFILE Experience & Skills * 4+ years of experience in compliance in an insurance or fintech company; solid coverage of at least two of the following: AML/CFT, insurance distribution (IDD), complaints handling, regulatory reporting * Solid understanding of the French insurance regulatory framework and ability to work across EU/local requirements * Proven ability to lead compliance projects cross-functionally: you translate regulatory requirements into clear priorities, align internal stakeholders, and deliver without creating bottlenecks or increased friction * Bilingual French/English (both required, written and spoken) * International exposure is a strong plus You Will Thrive Here If You Are * A pragmatic problem-solver: you find the right answer within regulatory constraints rather than defaulting to the most conservative one * Rigorous and well-organised: you maintain high documentation standards, track your commitments, and keep stakeholders informed * Business-minded: you understand what matters for the company's growth and your members' protection, and you calibrate your compliance work accordingly 🎯 IMPORTANT NOTE: WE HIRE PEOPLE, NOT ROLES. At its core, Alan is a tech company that believes exceptional member experience is a competitive advantage: fast, empathetic, and reliable service at scale. As of Q1 2026, 40% of conversations are handled automatically. * At the intersection of Care, Legal, Security, and Data Protection sits a set of topics that are as operationally complex as they are strategically critical: data breaches, GDPR rights requests, security incidents, legal complaints, regulatory reporting. * We are looking for a Care Legal & Security Specialist to own these topics end-to-end: handling complex cases in close collaboration with Alan's Legal and DPO teams, building the processes and training that allow our ~300 Care agents to manage them with confidence, and identifying where AI and automation can reduce manual load. As Alan accelerates across four countries, what you build in France gets replicated in Spain, Belgium, and Canada: your work doesn't stay local. * This is not a pure legal role, and it is not a pure ops role. You handle regulatory cases, improve the processes that prevent them from recurring, and scale what works across countries. You will be embedded within our Operational Excellence team, working in close collaboration with Care Ops and the Corporate Unit. 👨🚀 MISSIONS 1/ Operational run * Handle complex security incidents, GDPR cases, and legal complaints escalated from Care agents, including CNIL notifications (drafted in close collaboration with Legal and DPO, within the 72-hour regulatory deadline), account takeover situations, Level 2 and Level 3 complaints, and incoming legal mail * Manage interactions with external stakeholders (CNIL, Insurance Ombudsman, Signal Conso) with precision and within regulatory deadlines * Own KPI monitoring and reporting for legal and security matters; organize yearly complaints reporting for Alan's Board; identify trends and escalate systemic issues to Product teams early * 2/ Scalability: process, tools, and training * Design and continuously improve workflows, escalation paths, macros, and help center content so Care agents can handle legal and security cases autonomously at L1 and L2 * Identify simplification and automation opportunities across legal and security operations, then collaborate with Care Ops and Product crews to deploy them, rather than solving each case manually * Build and maintain training materials (case studies, Q&As, simulations), so Care Experts develop real judgment, not just process familiarity * Ensure regulatory training completion across the team * 3/ Globalization * Translate processes, frameworks, and training materials built for France into resources that Care and Legal/Compliance teams in other countries can adopt * Coordinate actively with counterparts in other countries to share learnings, align on best practices, and anticipate regulatory divergences * Build shared resources so that when a new country goes live, the Care Legal & Security function isn't starting from scratch * 4/ Mentorship and cross-collaboration * Support Care Experts participating in the Legal & Security taskforce: build their judgment on complex and ambiguous cases, be the primary escalation reference for Care agents facing difficult legal or security situations * Collaborate with the Corporate Unit Lead and Care Ops to shape the Care roadmap on legal and security topics; translate regulatory constraints into executable processes and surface operational insights that should inform policy or product decisions ⭐ YOU'LL EXCEL IN THIS ROLE IF YOU: * Deliver reliably on high-stakes, deadline-driven cases with a real member-centric mindset * Have at least 1-2 years of experience in one of the following: GDPR / privacy operations, legal complaints handling in a regulated sector, or compliance ops in fintech, insurtech, or health * Communicate with precision and adapt to your audience, whether you're briefing a legal expert, aligning with a product team, or coaching a front-line agent. You get buy-in from agents and managers who didn't ask for a new process, and that's as important as designing the process itself * Spot simplification opportunities and know how to turn them into projects: you identify what should be automated or redesigned, then drive the collaboration with Care Ops and Product to make it happen * Are comfortable navigating regulatory frameworks (GDPR, complaint handling, CNIL) without being a lawyer; you know when to escalate and when to own it, and you're backed by Legal and DPO experts at Alan * Are comfortable making judgment calls in ambiguous situations and moving forward without waiting for all the answers. * Are fluent in French (C1+ written and spoken, essential for CNIL notifications, ombudsman responses, and legal correspondence) and proficient in English for internal Alan collaboration * No prior legal qualification is required but a background in law is a genuine plus. We are looking for operational rigor, strong communication, and the appetite to build something that scales. For this opportunity, we are aiming to hire within the B-C level range. 🌍 HOW WE WORK Location: You must be legally eligible to work from France.
