The opportunity Plant Electrical Design is part of HVDC Engineering and manages the delivery of the auxiliary power system for HVDC stations. The system we manage includes equipment such as auxiliary transformers, medium & low voltage switchgear, diesel generator systems, batteries, UPS and cables. To be able to deliver the system in a safe and reliable way, we are now searching for three Designers to strengthen our team. In this role, you will be part of a team with the overall responsibility for the department’s scope of delivery which includes system design, selectivity studies, equipment specification, cable and cable transit systems. The design of the auxiliary system is complex and customized based on the customer requirements which makes our work challenging, but also very exciting since every project is different from another. In this role you will be part of a new expanding department that will focus on type testing and type approvals within HVDC for Electrical Environment. We are part of Control & Protection for hardware design. We are designing the automation system layout with placement of circuit boards and cable channeling and more, at our sites. Our cubicles have control cabinet layout, consisting of hundreds of circuit boards for measurements, control and calculations. Our system also includes user interfaces such as HMI (Human Machine Interface), diagnostic tools and IT infrastructure and IT security. For this we utilize our in-house developed real-time platform MACH to meet the power industry’s standards. In this position you will have a bigger scope than the actual testing. You will be part of requirements, standards, test setups, evaluating test results and be included in the actual testing. The opportunity Join the Global Hardware Development (R&D) team at Hitachi Energy and take a leading role in hardware development for Bay Level solutions. In this role, you will work close to both technology and execution, contributing to the development, integration, and industrialization of electronic hardware products used in critical energy infrastructure. You will operate at the intersection of system engineering and product development, collaborating closely with internal stakeholders and external suppliers throughout the full product lifecycle – from concept and requirements definition to production release and lifecycle maintenance. The Opportunity We are looking for an Electrical Lead Engineer to join our team at Grids and Power Quality Solutions. GPQSS is working with FACTS applications in Västerås, Sweden. FACTS (Flexible AC Transmission Systems) technology enables power system owners to increase capacity in the existing electric power system while improving electrical stability. As a result, more power reaches the customer with a minimal environmental impact and at lower investment costs compared to alternative solutions.
