Project description The project aims to develop models that describe how HVDC installations affect, and are af-fected by, power quality in electrical networks up to 150 kHz. Measurements will be used to further develop existing models and to distinguish between primary and secondary emissions as well as nonlinear interactions. The results will provide the basis for a generalized model of emission and immunity related to HVDC installations.The study will also investigate network resonances, interactions between multiple HVDC in-stallations, and the effects on transformers and other grid-connected equipment. The project is carried out in collaboration between Luleå University of Technology (LTU) and Hitachi Energy. Duties A PhD position involves both theoretical and practical work. As a doctoral student, you will be trained in scientific research through the publication of journal articles and presentations at national and international conferences. You will also complete both mandatory and elective doctoral courses. In addition, you may have the opportunity to gain teaching experience. The opportunity HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) is a product group within Hitachi Energy that develops, manufactures, and sells DC transmission systems on a global market. HVDC technology is used to transmit electricity over long distances and to connect offshore wind farms to the grid. About us The Doctoral student position is placed at the Division of Computational Mechanics and Materials Engineering, which belongs to the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Chalmers University of Technology. By combining high-fidelity simulations with experimental testing of lab-scale components, our research will generate new data, validate predictive models, and establish improved defect acceptance criteria. The outcome will be a practical, industry-ready methodology that enables safer, more cost-efficient decisions when dealing with defects in composite components. The project will involve collaborations and secondments (in total 8 months during the first three years) at University of Kore (2 months) and Leonardo S.p.A. (6 months) in Italy. Who we are looking for The following requirements are mandatory: To qualify as a Doctoral student, you must have a Master's degree (masterexamen) of 120 credits or a Master’s degree (magisterexamen) of 60 credits* in Applied Mechanics, Structural Engineering, Computational Engineering, Engineering Mathematics, Engineering Physics or similar. About RayCare RayCare is a client-server application that runs on premises at many clinics all over the world. RayCare takes care of and helps clinical staff to coordinate their work at the clinic. For example, workflow management, patient chart details and treatment management. RayCare is an innovative oncology information system (OIS) designed to support the complex challenges of modern oncology clinics. It is developed to streamline workflows in cancer clinics to facilitate efficient care faster to more patients. RayCare is used by all staff at the clinic, e.g., physicians, physicists, treatment planners etc. and is used in all steps of patient care, from registration to radiation treatment at the treatment machine and for treatment follow-up. RayCare is integrated with RayStation and its treatment tools but also with external products and supports communication via HL7 as well as DICOM. In the Core team you will mainly work with developing and improving our mission-critical event sourcing and micro service framework as well as installation and security aspects for the RayCare product.
