Your role.
We are looking for a Powertrain Electrical Engineer who takes responsibility for the electrical components of our electric powertrain and helps define the future product roadmap of our vehicles.
In this role, you are responsible for integrating and validating the key electrical components of our electric drivetrain. This includes traction batteries, inverters, electric motors, DC/DC converters, on-board chargers, HV distribution, contactors and other high-voltage components.
A major part of the role is making sure that we have a clear view of the supplier market and technology trends, and that Flux always has the best technical and commercial component options available for the next generations of vehicles.
You work closely with suppliers to understand their product roadmaps, strengths and risks. You ensure that Flux has a strong technical relationship with key suppliers, that alternative sources are available, and that new components are properly validated before they are introduced into our vehicles.
You also help shape Flux's future product roadmap by identifying which technologies and suppliers we should rely on over the next years.

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer with a strong hands-on mindset to take responsibility for the mechanical development of our electric powertrain for light commercial vehicles. In this role, you will take technical ownership of the mechanical architecture and design of key components within our electric drivetrain. This includes the battery, power electronics, motor, gearbox, shafts, bearings, structural components and the interfaces to the vehicle structure. You will work closely with our design team as well as our electrical and software departments, and support development from concept through calculation and simulation to verification in the vehicle and in the field. At Flux, you will work in a small team with short decision-making paths. You will take ownership of technical decisions early and directly shape the architecture of our vehicles.
At Heart Aerospace we develop the ES-30, a regional hybrid-electric airplane with a capacity of 30 passengers, an electric zero-emission range of 200 km and an extended hybrid range of 400 km. Heart is targeting type certification of the ES-30 by the end of the decade. Your mission We are seeking a highly motivated Power Electronics Engineer to join our Propulsion team. You will lead the design and integration of the hybrid propulsion, including but not limited to the inverters, motors, HV cables, with batteries, and in parallel with Turbomachinery. You will interface across mechanical, thermal, electrical, and flight control systems to deliver a fully integrated and certifiable hybrid Electric Propulsion Unit (EPU). Key responsibilities include but are not limited to: * This role is a Responsible Engineer (RE) who focuses on the integration of power electronics and high voltage electrical systems into our hybrid aircraft. * Full ownership over design, fabrication, commissioning, and certification of the hybrid propulsion system. * Lead and execute system-level tests, such as motor and propeller test stands. * Collaborate with suppliers to ensure delivery of integrated, certifiable subsystems. * Model the electrical and power electronics systems in to our high fidelity Digital Twin for optimization of our hybrid mission profile. * Perform topology selection trade studies. You'll Bring These Qualifications: * 2+ years of professional experience working with power electronics components. * Strong experience in high voltage power electronics design (+800V) including AC/DC inverters, and DC/DC converters. * Strong understanding of HV filter design, grounding analysis, coordination of protective devices. * Hands-on experience with integration of propulsion and/or powertrain test stands, including instrumentation, controls, and mechanical assembly. * Extensive experience with Altium/cadence/similar), circuit analysis (spice), gate driver design, and lab work (common tools like oscilloscopes, network analyzers) * Experience with C/C++, Python, Matlab/Simulink, or PLECS. * Strong knowledge of Avionics communication, ARINC, CAN, and Ethernet. * Strong understanding of Microcontrollers, Multicore processors, Firmware Development, and digital power conversion. These Qualifications Would Be Nice to Have: * Understanding of certification requirements (EASA CS-23/25 or FAA FAR Part 23/25). * Knowledge of hardware design and airworthiness DO-178C, DO-254, DO-160. * Demonstrated leadership qualities through cross-functional teamwork on challenging problems. * Working knowledge of EMI/EMC, underlying physics and specifications, along with best practices for design, and strategies. * Hands on experience with Matlab/Simulink Auto Code Generation. Education * Master’s or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering with focus on Power Electronics, or Power Systems. Base Pay Range: $124,000—$216,000 USD
About the Role We are looking for an experienced HIL Development Engineer with strong hands-on expertise in Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) architecture, development, modelling, integration, and system-level debugging. This role is focused on developing and maintaining advanced HIL environments used for vehicle system validation. We are looking for engineers who have experience building and improving HIL test systems – not only executing tests. The ideal candidate has a strong background in real-time simulation, ECU integration, automotive communication, and troubleshooting complex embedded systems. You will work closely with development, verification, and integration teams to secure robust test environments and support the validation of future vehicle technologies. Key Responsibilities HIL Development & Integration (Mandatory) Design, develop, commission, and maintain HIL test rigs and environments. Integrate ECUs, I/O systems, communication interfaces, sensors, and actuators into HIL platforms. Configure and set up HIL systems using platforms such as: dSPACE Vector ETAS National Instruments (NI) Speedgoat Develop real-time test environments for vehicle subsystems and complete vehicle validation. Define and optimize HIL architecture, signal flow, and interface management. Support continuous improvement of HIL setups and validation processes. HIL Modelling & Real-Time Simulation Develop MATLAB/Simulink models for: Vehicle systems Plant models Environment simulation Control systems Optimize models for real-time execution and HIL deployment. Perform model validation, calibration, and debugging in real-time environments. Work with simulation tools such as: ASM CarMaker VTD PreScan Similar simulation platforms Experience within vehicle dynamics modelling is highly beneficial, including understanding of: Longitudinal dynamics Lateral dynamics Powertrain behavior Automotive Communication & Diagnostics Develop, configure, and troubleshoot automotive communication networks. ADAS & Sensor Knowledge (Meritorious) Experience or knowledge within ADAS systems is considered an advantage. Strong understanding of automotive embedded systems and vehicle validation. Experience with automotive communication protocols and diagnostics. Experience with HIL platforms such as dSPACE, Vector, ETAS, NI, or Speedgoat. Strong debugging and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and drive technical activities.
