AI at Qonto: AI is deeply embedded in how we work (here) - Every Qontoer gets unlimited access to the best AI tools. We want people who experiment without waiting for permission, push AI beyond the obvious, know when to trust it, and when to question it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Location: You can choose to work at Qonto as long as you're living in (or willing to relocate to) either Germany, France, Italy, Serbia, Portugal, or Spain. ➡️ Mission Join us as an Android Engineer and help us build the mobile experience that 600,000+ European businesses rely on every day to manage their finances. You'll own product-critical features end-to-end — from technical design to rollout — in a large, modular Kotlin codebase where craft and velocity both matter. You'll work closely with Product, Design, Backend, and Frontend. ➡️ What you'll do Own features end-to-end: You'll take ownership from discovery and technical design through implementation, rollout, and iteration on features that help businesses pay, get paid, and stay in control. Drive technical decisions in your squad: You'll shape solutions with Product, Design, and Backend by clarifying tradeoffs across UX, performance, security, and time-to-market. Raise app reliability and maintainability: You'll improve architecture, performance, and test strategy to scale the app without compromising stability. Tackle complex mobile challenges: You'll contribute to real-time synchronization, resilience patterns, and smooth navigation in a modular codebase with ~1,000 modules. Grow the team's Android craft: You'll lead code reviews and technical discussions, share patterns, and mentor peers to raise the bar on quality and delivery. ➡️ What we're looking for Strong Android native experience: You've shipped and maintained production features with Kotlin and are comfortable owning technical decisions end-to-end. Quality-driven mindset: You care about testing (unit, UI, snapshot), clean code, and pragmatic standards that keep teams moving fast. Problem-solving approach: You thrive in ambiguity and turn complex constraints into simple, robust solutions. AI-native workflow: You use AI coding tools daily to amplify your output — not just experiment with them. Collaborative by nature: You're fluent in English and contribute through code reviews, knowledge sharing, and mentorship across technical and non-technical stakeholders. ➡️ What we can offer you An AI-first engineering environment: Unlimited access to Claude Code, Cursor, and Copilot — and a culture that expects you to use them to raise the bar, not just go faster (click here to read our vision statement on AI) Engineering standards that scale: Strong code review culture, continuous refactoring, and a focus on correctness in a regulated context. A technically demanding domain: Fintech constraints — security, compliance, real-time data — push you to solve problems most mobile engineers never encounter. ➡️ Our methodology, the Qonto Way We value upfront technical design, team reviews, and smart slicing — quality drives the velocity our customers need. Our org assigns one team lead per project across stacks, giving your team a clear mission and full autonomy on how it operates. Our lean toolbox, Kaizen and PDCA, lets you monitor and drive continuous improvement collaboratively with your peers and manager. Want to go further? Click here ➡️ Our stack & practices Kotlin-first & modern concurrency: 100% Kotlin codebase with Coroutines + Flow throughout. You will help scale how the mission team deploys by building the SOPs, support practices, and technical standards that make deployments repeatable. Responsibilities: * Manage, mentor, and develop Technical Operations Engineers through onboarding, coaching, and performance feedback. * Help build the SOPs, runbooks, escalation processes, and diagnostics that make deployments and support repeatable. * Deploy alongside your team — integrating CHAOS systems with customer infrastructure and debugging complex edge issues. * Serve as the senior escalation point for complex hardware, software, and networking issues, leading incident response and root-cause analysis. * Advise internal and customer teams on operational use and best practices, and communicate technical status to key customers. * Capture operational feedback and partner with engineering to drive reliability and product improvements. * Travel (typically up to 25%) to customer and test sites for deployments, escalations, and mission support. Minimum Requirements * Strong technical foundation with a degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or related field — or equivalent hands-on experience. * Proven experience leading technical teams in field engineering, technical operations, systems integration, or similar — as a formal manager or established team lead. * Deep familiarity with Linux environments; comfortable with SSH, networking tools, and system-level debugging. * Track record of delivering complex hardware/software deployments in customer environments. * Experience integrating or maintaining hardware or sensor systems, with an understanding of networking protocols and hardware interfaces. * Proficiency in at least one scripting or programming language (Python, Bash, or similar). * Excellent communication skills — able to represent technical operations to customers, executives, and engineers with clarity and composure. * Willingness and enthusiasm for travel and on-site technical work. Preferred Requirements: * Experience building a team or function from an early stage — defining processes and scaling operations. * Background in defense, aerospace, or other mission-critical environments; experience working directly with military or government operational users. * Understanding of RF systems, SDRs, or radar technologies. * Familiarity with telemetry, data integration, or IoT-style architectures, and with cloud and edge computing environments (Docker, Azure, AWS, etc.). * Active US security clearance, or eligibility to obtain one.
