ABOUT US Harmattan AI is a next-generation defense prime building autonomous and scalable defense systems. Following the close of a $200M Series B, valuing the company at $1.4 billion, we are expanding our teams and capabilities to deliver mission-critical systems to allied forces. Our work is guided by clear values: building technologies with real-world impact, pursuing excellence in everything we do, setting ambitious goals, and taking on the hardest technical challenges. We operate in a demanding environment where rigor, ownership, and execution are expected. ABOUT THE ROLE The Automated Equipment Maintenance Engineer owns the reliability, uptime, and continuous improvement of our automated test bench infrastructure and production systems. Hands-on and technically deep, the role operates at the direct interface between manufacturing and engineering — commissioning and maintaining complex test benches, diagnosing cross-domain faults, and translating shopfloor observations into actionable engineering feedback. You will work daily alongside Test Bench, Automation, and Manufacturing Engineers, acting as the operational anchor that keeps systems running while feeding structured technical insight back into the engineering cycle. Reports to the Plant Manager. RESPONSIBILITIES Test Bench Ownership & Maintenance * Own availability and reliability of automated test benches — from commissioning and qualification through to day-to-day maintenance and recovery * Perform hands-on fault diagnosis across hardware, software, electrical, and integration layers * Execute commissioning, qualification, and requalification of test benches following upgrades, repairs, or configuration changes * Monitor bench health proactively — identify degradation before it impacts production throughput or test validity * Support test cycle time and station configuration improvement in close coordination with Test Bench Engineers Engineering Team Integration * Work directly and daily with Test Bench, Automation, and Manufacturing Engineering teams — the primary operational feedback loop between shopfloor and engineering * Support deployment and validation of software, hardware, and configuration updates on test benches and production equipment * Translate shopfloor observations — anomalies, failure patterns, recurring faults — into structured technical feedback for engineering and industrialisation teams * Participate in engineering reviews and deployment planning for new test systems, providing operational and maintenance perspective Production & Factory Systems * Maintain broader production infrastructure: automated storage, industrial PCs, scanners, and label-printing systems * Contribute to establishing a structured preventive maintenance system across test benches and manufacturing equipment * Coordinate and support on-site maintenance technicians as production scales CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS Technical Background * Experience in maintenance, test systems, or industrial automation — aerospace, defence, advanced electronics, robotics, or similar high-precision environments * Hands-on commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of automated test benches or complex electromechanical systems — core requirement * Strong diagnostic capabilities across hardware, software, and electrical domains * Python, industrial software, or automation environments — meaningful advantage Engineering Collaboration & Mindset * Works closely with engineering teams — contributes technically to system improvement, not just task execution * Produces structured technical documentation: maintenance records, troubleshooting procedures, fault reports, and engineering feedback * Execution-driven, high ownership — proactive on fault detection, rigorous on prevention, comfortable in fast-scaling industrial environments We look forward to hearing how you can help shape the future of autonomous defense systems at Harmattan AI.
