Institutionen för klinisk vetenskap vid Umeå universitet söker en Senior Staff Scientist inom molekylär medicin. Anställningen är på heltid tills vidare, med start i hösten 2026 eller enligt överenskommelse.
Beskrivning av verksamheten
Institutionen för klinisk vetenskap bedriver internationellt konkurrenskraftig forskning inom molekylär medicin, med stark koppling till klinisk verksamhet. Ett centralt fokus är utveckling och tillämpning av avancerade metoder för att studera genetiska, molekylära och mikrobiella mekanismer bakom sjukdom och hälsa, särskilt inom barnmedicin och translationell forskning.
Som Senior Staff Scientist kommer du att ha en nyckelroll i att utveckla, driva och samordna avancerad forskningsinfrastruktur inom molekylär medicin. Arbetsuppgifterna omfattar bland annat:
Utveckling, implementering och tillämpning av avancerade metoder inom molekylärbiologi, genetik och sekvenseringsbaserad forskning.
Etablering och vidareutveckling av robusta arbetsflöden för DNA- och RNA-analys, inklusive next-generation sequencing (Illumina) och tredje generationens long-read-sekvensering (Oxford Nanopore).
Utveckling, anpassning och integrering av bioinformatiska analysflöden för sekvens- och multi-omics-data i pågående forskningsprojekt.
Samordning och drift av forskningsinfrastruktur, inklusive metodansvar, kvalitetssäkring, teknikutveckling och långsiktig förvaltning av metodplattformar.
Vetenskapligt och metodologiskt stöd till forskargrupper, inklusive projektutveckling, studiedesign och avancerad dataanalys.
Handledning och utbildning av teknisk personal, doktorander och studenter inom relevanta metod- och analysområden.
Aktiv medverkan i bidragsansökningar, rapportering samt strategisk utveckling av forskningsmiljön.
Samverkan med klinisk verksamhet samt med nationella och internationella externa samarbetspartners.
Kvalifikationskrav
För anställning som Senior Staff Scientist krävs doktorsexamen inom molekylär medicin eller annat för anställningen relevant forskningsområde. Vidare krävs gedigen kunskap och omfattande erfarenhet inom human molekylär medicin, med självständigt ansvar för avancerad molekylär karakterisering och integrerad analys i komplexa, longitudinella och interventionsbaserade studier, samt mycket god kunskap om bakomliggande teorier och principer.
Därutöver krävs särskild kompetens inom utveckling, anpassning och tillämpning av avancerade sekvenseringsbaserade och beräkningsmässiga metoder för molekylär analys av biologiska system.
Erfarenhet av kvalificerat lednings- och samordningsarbete med forskningsinfrastruktur, såsom arbetsledning, budgetarbete, koordinering, samverkan, rapportering samt bidrags- och finansieringsarbete.
Erfarenhet av avancerade arbetsuppgifter som omfattar utveckling och tillämpning av avancerade metoder inom för anställningen relevanta områden, såsom tredje generationens long-read-sekvensering (Oxford Nanopore), sekvenseringsbaserad transkriptomik samt tillhörande bioinformatiska analysflöden för storskaliga molekylära data.
Mycket god förmåga att kommunicera vetenskapliga resultat muntligt och skriftligt på engelska.
Meriterande kvalifikationer
Dokumenterad vetenskaplig produktion genom publikationer i internationellt välrenommerade tidskrifter med peer review, särskilt inom molekylär medicin, genomik eller relaterade områden.
Erfarenhet av translationell forskning och av att arbeta i gränslandet mellan akademisk forskning och klinisk verksamhet.
Erfarenhet av att självständigt utveckla och genomföra utbildnings- och kompetensutvecklingsinsatser, såsom kurser, workshops och metodutbildningar, riktade till forskare, teknisk personal eller studenter.
Erfarenhet av långsiktiga nationella och internationella forskningssamarbeten.
