Your role in our team
As our new Advanced Systems Engineer on a specialist level, you will play a key role in driving, structuring, and technically anchoring proposal activities within Air & Land Projects in R&D.
You will enter a highly specialized technical environment with a steep learning curve. Initially, you will work closely with and learn from our Senior Systems Engineer on proposals and our Solution Architect within this technology area, actively supporting them in their ongoing high-value bid processes. Through this close collaboration and mentorship, you will quickly build deep domain knowledge across Terma's Electronic Warfare portfolios. As you mature in the role, you will gradually take full, independent responsibility for driving your own technical proposals from inception to final delivery.

ABOUT THE ROLE We are seeking a hands-on, product-side Integration Software Engineer to join our Software Engineering team. In this role, your core mission is to develop, validate, harden, and fold software interfaces into our core product line, enabling our advanced systems to connect seamlessly with third-party and customer-provided data streams. This is a role for a focused, skilled coder who builds robust connectors rather than a systems-engineering generalist. You will own a multi-data-stream scope built to extend from one integration family to others over time, operating with a reusable-capability mindset so that each new integration is faster and more reliable than the last. You will sit at a key architectural boundary: you ensure the data gets into the system correctly (while integration engineering teams make sense of it), and you build the software capability (while Deployment Engineers manage site installation and commissioning). Note: This position is primarily office-based, requiring episodic travel to customer operational sites for integration validation and commissioning phases rather than a permanent forward-deployed site presence. RESPONSIBILITIES * Interface Analysis: Rigorously study third-party data interfaces and explicitly define how external data feeds will robustly flow into our software architecture. * Connector Development: Design, code, and deploy the critical software interfaces and backend connectors required to ingest and translate raw external data into our system's expected internal format. * Data Handling: Manage complex data ingestion architectures with absolute stability—ensuring high performance across data formatting, framing, coordinate frame transformations, precise timing/latency, and resilient error handling. * Validation & Testing: Test integrations end-to-end against highly representative data simulators, and travel to field sites to verify real-world correctness, latency bounds, and operational reliability. * Hardening & Productization: Harden all developed integrations, folding durable and reusable software capabilities directly back into the core product baseline to avoid per-deployment one-offs. * Regression Protection: Continuously support and build automated regression testing workflows for external integrations to guarantee that new core product releases never break active deployed connections. * Collaboration & Roadmap Feedback: Partner closely with integration engineering, product, and field deployment teams to surface critical integration requirements and drive them directly into the core product roadmap. To support this growth, our internal Tooling team needs a dedicated Software Engineer - Visualization to build the software infrastructure that accelerates development, testing, and validation. In this role, you will design and deliver the critical internal tools that allow our Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC), Machine Learning (ML), Embedded Software, and Validation teams to see, explore, and make sense of massive datasets—including telemetry, sensor data, simulation outputs, flight paths, and complex 3D scenes. You will have high ownership and direct mission impact, building infrastructure used daily across all technical teams. RESPONSIBILITIES * Design & Development: Design, develop, and maintain high-performance visualization tools, telemetry dashboards, data plotting software, and 3D scene viewers from scratch. * Architecture & API Design: Define clean, sustainable solutions (architecture, internal APIs, and intuitive user interfaces) responding to specific technical needs from engineering teams. * Pipeline Integration: Ensure all custom visualization tools integrate seamlessly into the company's automated CI/CD and data processing pipelines. * Performance Optimization: Analyze and continuously optimize the performance, rendering, and responsiveness of visualization tools handling real-world data at scale. * Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner directly with user teams (GNC, ML, Embedded, Validation) to translate operational feedback and field requirements into technical specifications. * Quality Assurance: Write clean, robust code, contribute to tests, improve automated quality evaluations, and document workflows via tutorials. * Technical Standards: Set technical standards for internal software tools and mentor junior developers as the organization scales.
