As part of our vision to enrich people’s lives through stories, we’re growing our Apps team by hiring an Android Developer to help
us build seamless listening experiences for hundreds of thousands of users across Sweden, Norway, and Finland.
In this role, you’ll help shape how users experience our premium podcast and audiobook platform. You'll work closely with design,
product, backend, QA, and DevOps to ensure the Podme Android app is high-performing, user-friendly, and continuously improving.
You'll also contribute to technical decisions, feature design, and the ongoing evolution of our Android platform.

In this role, you will help create the clarity, capability, and delivery conditions behind high-quality user-facing product development. WHAT YOU'LL DO * Lead, support, and develop a distributed group of iOS, Android, and Web engineers through coaching, feedback, growth planning, and clear role expectations. * Foster an inclusive and accountable environment where employees and consultants across locations have context and support. * Maintain visibility of capability, ownership, staffing needs, consultant dependency, and succession risks across the client-side engineering domain. * Support engineering strategy execution by partnering with product and tech leadership. * Surface technical debt, quality risks, release risks, infrastructure constraints, and operational needs early to enable informed decisions. * Strengthen engineering standards around maintainability, observability, security, performance, and operational excellence. * Help teams balance platform-specific excellence with cross-platform alignment where it improves user experience, delivery efficiency, quality, or maintainability. WHAT YOU BRING You combine people leadership with the technical understanding needed to support iOS, Android, Web, and user-facing product trade-offs. You create clarity in complex environments and help teams improve how they work. * Experience leading, coaching, mentoring or developing engineers. * Experience working with distributed or hybrid engineering teams. Previous management experience in this setup is a plus. * Understanding of modern software delivery practices and the quality needs of user-facing products. * Understanding of mobile release processes and the quality assurance needs of mobile releases. * Ability to balance engineering standards with team autonomy. * Ability to explain engineering trade-offs, risks, and constraints clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders. * Clear communication and relationship-building skills. * Cost-conscious approach to staffing, tooling, infrastructure, and technical decisions. * Professional-level English communication skills. Swedish is beneficial. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR * 3 - 5 years of professional experience in Android development; * Strong proficiency in Kotlin and Jetpack Compose; * Experience with Kotlin Multiplatform is a plus; * Solid understanding of Android frameworks and the full mobile development lifecycle; * Familiarity with SOLID programming principles and design patterns such as MVVM; * Previous experience with Java is a plus; * Proven problem-solving skills and ability to work independently; * Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken; * Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-disciplinary teams; * Proactive mindset with a strong sense of responsibility for the end product; * Eagerness to learn and stay updated with the latest mobile and UX technologies.
