We invite applications for a Research Assistant position in the research group of Professor Magnus Ingelman-Sundberg, within the Section of Pharmacogenetics.
This position is housed in the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology, known for its collegial, international, and dynamic research environment. Our current research focuses on the use CYP2C19 is a highly polymorphic enzyme involved in the metabolism of many drugs and endogenous lipids, making it one of the most clinically important pharmacogenes. Beyond drug metabolism, CYP2C19 regulates lipid pathways influencing vascular function, inflammation, cholesterol homeostasis, and broader metabolic processes. We will investigate why fetal CYP2C19 expression induces inflammation in the developing hippocampus, leading to neuronal degeneration in the adult dentate gyrus causing anxiety and depression in adult life identifying molecular pathways relevant for future antidepressant development. Reduced CYP2C19 function has been associated with increased risk of myocardial infarction and ischemic stroke, suggesting broader roles in cardiovascular disease. Using advanced human liver spheroids and brain organoids, we will study CYP2C19 in lipid metabolism ini relation to cardiovascular risk, by identifying CYP2C19-dependent lipid pathways providing new insights into mechanisms underlying neuropsychiatric disorders and arteriosclerosis.
Your profile
We are seeking a motivated candidate with at least one year of hands-on laboratory experience and practical skills in RT-PCR, Western blotting, and cell culture. Experience in immunohistochemistry, imaging techniques, and molecular biology methods is highly desirable. Previous work with brain tissues is a merit.
You will join a dynamic research team of approximately six researchers and contribute to several ongoing projects focused on the biological functions of CYP2C19. Your primary responsibilities will include:

oin the Leadership Group for Industry Transition (LeadIT) as Steel Cooperation Lead, driving international collaboration for a low-carbon future in heavy industry. LeadIT is a global initiative that brings together member states and companies, co-chaired by the governments of India and Sweden. Its mandate is to advance a just and equitable global industry transition and to align industry with the Paris Agreement. The Secretariat, hosted by SEI, supports its members and the mission of transitioning heavy and energy-intensive industries, including iron and steel – work that is set to expand and deepen. The role This full-time role is central to maintaining momentum in the iron and steel sector: developing industry transition partnerships and supporting cooperation to accelerate industrial decarbonization, in line with LeadIT’s mission. You will define and develop work areas for the green iron and steel sector and contribute to the global industrial decarbonization agenda, working closely with colleagues, partners and industry. The work is multifaceted – spanning industrial co-operation, multilateral development banks, technical research, international institutions, diplomatic missions, industrial policy and national transition plans. Within the LeadIT Secretariat, you will help enable the decarbonization of iron and steel globally, providing countries and companies in emerging markets with assistance through LeadIT members, partners and stakeholders. This work is expected to support the development and implementation of iron and steel transitions worldwide, channelling technical and industrial expertise from LeadIT’s network to those preparing for decarbonization. Key duties and responsibilities Provide leadership that drives strong stakeholder and partner engagement and effective project delivery. Develop and operationalize an assistance facility for emerging markets on industry transition. Lead the LeadIT Secretariat’s work on iron and steel collaboration with industry, research institutions, LeadIT members and partners, and with emerging markets. Develop and strengthen technical collaboration on decarbonization, with a focus on the iron and steel sector. Liaise with companies, technical experts from industry, trade associations and research institutions. Work with international partners, including the World Bank and other development institutions, to enable the rollout of a just and equitable industrial transition. Support effective internal and external outreach, engaging with policymakers and other target audiences. Support visiting and outgoing delegations from countries and industry. Ensure implementation of the LeadIT mission statement and annual work plans. Represent LeadIT internally and externally. Carry out other duties within the LeadIT mandate, as assigned. Who you are We are looking for someone with strong knowledge of the iron and steel sector and the challenges and opportunities of the industry transition in general, and of green iron and steel developments in particular. In-depth knowledge and working experience from and/or within the iron and steel sector is an advantage, as is experience of emerging markets and international industrial cooperation. To succeed in this role, you will be driven, motivated, organized and a strong team player, with experience of managing and coordinating complex, multi-stakeholder projects across different sectors. Qualifications and knowledge A master’s degree or higher in a relevant field, and/or equivalent industry experience. At least seven years’ experience working in or with the steel sector, and/or in international collaboration on steel decarbonization. A proven track record of delivering high visibility projects involving multiple, diverse stakeholder groups. Experience working at a strategic level with a diverse range of stakeholders. Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, for both technical and public audiences; additional language skills are an advantage. WORK TASKS The Department of Bioinformatics and Genetics at the Swedish Museum of Natural History is offering a two-year Postdoc position focused on Floral Traits, Machine Learning and Macro-evolution. This project aims to investigate the evolution of flower size on oceanic islands by combining phylogenetic comparative methods with machine learning-based extraction of trait data from digitised botanical floras. The successful candidate will develop computational workflows to generate large-scale, standardised datasets of floral traits and use these to test hypotheses about the predictability and drivers of flower-size evolution in island systems. As a postdoc in this project, you will work with developing methods in ML, integrate macro-phylogenetic tools to understand floral trait evolution on islands. The preferred start date is 01-10-2026. QUALIFICATIONS Qualifications: • completed a PhD in plant systematics or a related field • Demonstrated expertise in phylogenetic comparative methods and macroevolutionary analyses. • Strong programming skills in R and experience analysing large, complex biological datasets. • Excellent proficiency in English, both spoken and written. (The research environment is international, therefore English is required. Stockholms universitets Östersjöcentrum(ÖC) bedriver forskning om Östersjöns miljö samt stödjer den forskning och utbildning om Östersjön som bedrivs på olika institutioner vid Stockholms universitet (SU). ÖC arbetar fokuserat med vetenskapskommunikation till myndigheter och andra intressenter. ÖC är värd för Baltic Nest Institute (BNI), som fokuserar på storskaliga effekter av näringsämnesinflöde och klimatförändringar på Östersjön genom modellering och dataanalys till stöd för arbetet mot övergödning. BNI:s arbete har till exempel resulterat i kvantitativa tak för näringsutsläpp som politiskt överenskommits i hela regionen. ÖC har också en mycket aktiv grupp för kustnära ekosystem som fokuserar på effekterna av en mängd olika antropogena stressfaktorer och på olika förvaltningsalternativ för att förbättra tillståndet i dessa ekosystem. Projektbeskrivning Östersjöns kustekosystem har ett stort ekologiskt och samhälleligt värde, och det finns ett växande behov av vetenskapligt stöd för en effektiv förvaltning och restaurering av kustmiljöer. Det gäller inte minst för kustens vegetationsmiljöer, som är viktiga för biologisk mångfald och samtidigt påverkar utbytet av växthusgaser mellan hav och atmosfär och spelar en viktig roll för naturlig kolinlagring. Vid kusten beror resultaten av restaureringsinsatser både på lokala miljöförhållanden och på kopplingar till havsområden längre ut till havs, vilket innebär att förutsättningarna för att lyckas kan begränsas eller förstärkas av processer som pågår långt bortom platsen för en åtgärd. Till exempel belastas stora delar av Östersjökusten och skärgården av höga näringskoncentrationer till havs, medan andra områden påverkas mer av lokala näringskällor. Projektet syftar till att kvantitativt undersöka tidsmässiga och rumsliga kopplingar mellan förhållandena i öppna Östersjön och kustens vegetationsmiljöer, med hjälp av befintliga observerade och modellerade datamängder på olika tidsmässiga och rumsliga skalor. Syftet är att förbättra förståelsen för hur lokala, regionala och storskaliga faktorer påverkar undervattensvegetationen och hur det i sin tur påverkar omsättningen av växthusgaser och vegetationens funktion som naturlig kolsänka. Målet är att stödja en effektiv förvaltning av kustmiljöer i Östersjön och andra hav. Arbetsuppgifter Forskningen kommer att omfatta insamling, hantering och analys av befintliga datamängder om bottenvegetation, oceanografi och klimatvariabler från Östersjön. Konkreta arbetsuppgifter omfattar: rumsliga analyser och/eller tidsserieanalyser av ekologiska data insamling och hantering av data skriva vetenskapliga artiklar i internationella tidskrifter samarbete med forskare vid Östersjöcentret engagera sig i forskningskommunikation mot olika målgrupper för att sprida projektresultaten.
