We're seeking a dynamic manager to lead a team on our early-stage journey of providing Figma’s users with personalized, streamline and intuitive solutions. As Figma’s customer base continues to expand and diversify, and new technological advancements in AI and generative design emerge, the opportunity for AI experience engineering is greater than ever. You’ll collaborate closely with a cutting edge AI Research team and your work will help raise the ceiling of what’s possible for designers and lower the floor of who can design. We are seeking an accomplished and experienced leader who has built scrappy fast paced teams, ideally working on generative AI products, to join our team and lead our AI efforts from inception to implementation. This is a full time role that can be held from one of our US hubs or remotely in the United States.  WHAT YOU’LL DO AT FIGMA: * Lead and grow a diverse team of engineers building and advancing Figma’s AI capabilities across core products * Partner closely with Product, Engineering, AI Research, and Data Science to define strategy and drive a clear roadmap for AI-powered experiences * Hire, mentor, and retain exceptional engineering talent, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and thoughtful risk-taking * Drive 0→1 innovation by identifying opportunities and applying emerging AI technologies to meaningfully improve the user experience * Champion Figma’s commitment to diversity and inclusion by actively contributing to equitable hiring practices, team development, and cross-company initiatives. WE'D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU IF YOU HAVE: * 3+ years of experience hiring, leading, and developing high-performing engineering teams * Proven experience building and scaling AI-powered product capabilities, ideally in fast-paced, high-growth environments * Demonstrated track record of driving 0→1 product development, with the ability to translate ambiguous ideas into impactful, production-ready features * Strong ability to build and operate fast-moving teams that balance innovation with execution * Genuine curiosity and enthusiasm for emerging AI technologies and their application to user-facing products WHILE NOT REQUIRED, IT’S AN ADDED PLUS IF YOU ALSO HAVE: * Knowledge and experience in generative AI, RAG, the fine-tuning process and its application to creative products * Experience digging into product analytics and data yourself to help create new opportunities or investment areas for your team At Figma, one of our values is Grow as you go. Pay Transparency Disclosure If based in Figma’s San Francisco or New York hub offices, this role has the annual base salary range stated below.     Job level and actual compensation will be decided based on factors including, but not limited to, individual qualifications objectively assessed during the interview process (including skills and prior relevant experience, potential impact, and scope of role), market demands, and specific work location. The listed range is a guideline, and the range for this role may be modified. For roles that are available to be filled remotely, the pay range is localized according to employee work location by a factor of between 80% and 100% of range. The Interaction Design team is responsible for creating and maintaining the runtime APIs that support rich, high fidelity interactions and animations across our product suite. Our team’s work is critical to ensuring products like Prototyping, Slides, and Smart Animate have the platform needed to empower customers to bring their designs to life in new and exciting ways. The team is also responsible for building new interaction and animation-based features. In this role, you’ll lead the team that enables engineers at Figma to easily develop the next generation of interactive Figma features and products. This is a full time role that can be held from one of our US hubs or remotely in the United States. WHAT YOU'LL DO AT FIGMA: * Build and execute on a long-term roadmap to improve the platform, features, and runtimes supporting interactive and animated experiences in Figma products like Prototyping and Slides  * Hire, manage, support and develop a team of engineers, including staff level engineers * Partner with product and engineering leadership to set strategy, priorities, and mission for teams and projects * Roll up your sleeves as needed to get involved in the technical details of solving some of the most complex technical challenges at Figma * Establish trust within and across teams by creating accountability and a positive work environment in partnership with other leaders in the organization * Grow your career in an engaged and creative engineering community * Figma is committed to building an inclusive and diverse team and culture.
