WHAT YOU'LL DO: * Client Leadership: Act as the primary business partner for the client, building trust-based relationships at the senior level. * Growth Ownership: Drive a 20% YoY growth target by identifying commercial opportunities in Paid Media, Social Organic, LLM, and Influencer strategy. * Matrix Orchestration: Lead the "Trio" (Account, Program, Strategy), serving as the final decision-maker to ensure delivery matches client expectations. * Strategic Sparring: Challenge the client and internal teams with "Growth Invention" ideas, moving beyond execution to strategic impact. * Commercial Governance: Own the P&L, SOWs, and profitability for the Business Group. Madano’s award-winning digital team works with clients across science, technology and engineering, helping them shape the future through effective digital storytelling. As one of the fastest-growing communications consultancies in the UK, we are looking for an experienced and commercially minded Senior Account Director to help grow Madano’s digital offer. This is a senior role for someone who can provide trusted client counsel, shape digital strategies and plans, oversee high-quality service and delivery, and identify opportunities to expand our work across existing clients and new prospects. The successful candidate will bring strong knowledge of digital marketing disciplines, curiosity about emerging trends and technologies, and the ability to translate insight into clear, effective recommendations for clients and teams. The role Madano’s digital team collaborates with clients, media partners and internal teams across Insights, Creative, Healthcare, and Net Zero Transition to develop paid, earned, shared and owned media strategies and campaigns. As Senior Account Director, Digital, you will play a key role in setting strategic direction, overseeing delivery and ensuring our digital work is of the highest quality, creatively effective and tangibly measurable. You will be responsible for leading client relationships, provide senior counsel, shape briefs, develop scopes of work, oversee project teams and ensure high-quality delivery across multiple accounts. You will be expected to bring both strategic and practical digital expertise across areas such as paid media, SEO/GEO, website and content strategy, analytics, customer experience, digital design, social media, media buying and integrated campaign planning. You will not need to be a specialist in every discipline, but you should be confident enough to ask the right questions, guide teams and partners, and advise clients on the best digital approach. You will also contribute to the continued growth of Madano’s digital offer, helping to develop new products, improve ways of working, mentor junior team members and identify opportunities for innovation across AI, search, analytics, digital storytelling and performance communications. What we expect Leadership and client counsel * Acts as a trusted adviser to senior clients and contacts, providing clear, evidence-led counsel and constructive challenge. * Leads complex digital workstreams across multiple accounts, ensuring work is delivered on time, on budget and to a high standard. * Builds strong relationships with clients, colleagues, media partners and suppliers. * Brings together the right internal and external specialists across Insights, Creative, Healthcare, Net Zero Transition and digital delivery. * Coaches and supports junior and mid-level team members, contributing to a positive, collaborative and entrepreneurial team culture. * Shows curiosity about emerging trends, channels, audience behaviours and digital innovation, including AI, search and changing media consumption habits. * Able to come into the office three times per week to collaborate with colleagues and clients. Digital strategy and delivery * Leads the development of digital strategies, channel plans and campaign recommendations across paid, earned, owned and shared media. * Has strong knowledge across digital disciplines including paid media, SEO/GEO, website strategy, analytics, social media, content strategy, customer experience and digital design. * Confidently scopes, plans and oversees digital projects, including timelines, budgets, resourcing, deliverables and review processes. * Interprets data from platforms such as Google Analytics, LinkedIn Ads Campaign Manager, Google Ads, Meta and Semrush, translating findings into clear recommendations. * Oversees reporting and measurement frameworks, ensuring clients understand performance, learnings and optimisation opportunities. * Writes and reviews strategic documents, proposals, digital audits, campaign plans, scopes of work, client reports and recommendations. * Maintains high standards of quality control across digital outputs, including copy, creative, targeting, reporting and technical delivery. * Understands compliance, governance and approval processes, particularly in regulated sectors such as healthcare (essential) and energy. * To note, roughly 65% of your time will be dedicated to client delivery. Commercial growth and visibility * Understands client objectives, sector context, audience needs and commercial priorities. * Identifies opportunities to improve existing work and expand Madano’s digital remit. * Meets individual and team new business targets for the year. * Manages project teams effectively, ensuring roles, responsibilities and deadlines are clear. * Understands strong financial management, including scopes of work, budgets, profitability, forecasting, timesheets and supplier costs. * Supports new business activity, including proposal development, pitch thinking, audits, research and digital recommendations. * Represents Madano’s digital expertise in client meetings, new business opportunities, industry events and internal forums. * Contributes to Madano’s own marketing, thought leadership, credentials, case studies and service development.
