Mechanical Commissioning Technician

LotusWorks is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace, integral to our people-first approach.  LotusWorks is seeking a Mechanical Quality & Commissioning Technician to support commissioning and startup activities within a semiconductor manufacturing facility in Arizona. This role will work closely with commissioning, construction, engineering, and operations teams to support project execution while ensuring systems are installed, documented, and prepared for turnover in accordance with project requirements. The successful candidate will have experience working with mechanical systems in industrial, semiconductor, or mission-critical environments. RESPONSIBILITIES: * Perform inspections of mechanical systems and equipment to verify compliance with project specifications and quality requirements. * Support startup and commissioning activities for mechanical exhaust fans, air handling units (AHUs), chillers, pumps, and associated equipment. * Conduct equipment walkdowns to verify installation quality, system readiness, and commissioning status. * Identify, document, and communicate deficiencies, punch-list items, and non-conforming work requiring corrective action. * Assist with pre-functional inspections, startup activities, and system validation testing. * Coordinate with construction, commissioning, engineering, and operations teams to support successful system startup and turnover. * Review commissioning documentation, inspection records, and test reports for accuracy and completeness. * Maintain accurate commissioning records, checklists, and turnover documentation. * Ensure compliance with site safety requirements and established commissioning procedures. * Support project turnover activities by verifying systems are ready for operational handoff. * Any other duties or responsibilities that may be assigned to you in your role. SKILLS REQUIRED: * 3+ years of experience inspecting, starting up, commissioning, and troubleshooting mechanical equipment including exhaust fans, air handling units (AHUs), chillers, cooling towers, pumps, and hydronic water systems within mission-critical environments. * Experience in mechanical commissioning, startup, construction, quality, facilities, operations, or related technical roles. * Knowledge of mechanical system readiness, equipment startup, inspections, and commissioning processes. * Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, equipment documentation, and commissioning records. * Familiarity with hydronic water distribution systems and mechanical utility infrastructure. * Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and technical documentation skills. * Knowledge of safe work practices within mission-critical, industrial, semiconductor, or manufacturing environments. * Strong communication and teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple disciplines. EDUCATION / LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS * Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred. * Proof of education, licenses, and certifications will be required where applicable. LotusWorks is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace, integral to our people-first approach.  The Mechanical Commissioning Engineer is responsible for supporting the commissioning and verification of mechanical systems within semiconductor or mission-critical facilities. This role ensures that all mechanical equipment and systems are installed, tested, and operating in accordance with design specifications, quality standards, and operational requirements. The technician will work closely with construction, engineering, vendors, and operations teams throughout all phases of commissioning, from installation through project closeout. RESPONSIBILITIES: * Perform mechanical installation walkdowns to verify system completeness * Verify AHU, pump, and piping installation * Confirm valve tagging, labeling, alignment, and equipment anchoring * Review hydrostatic and leakage test reports * Confirm flushing and cleaning activities are complete * Identify, document, and log installation deficiencies in EXTO * Track equipment installation progress and readiness status * Review mechanical QA/QC documentation from trade contractors * Confirm access, clearance, and readiness for startup and OAT * Attend and support mechanical OAT activities * Witness pump startups, rotation checks, and VFD ramp-up * Verify operation of valves, dampers, and system components * Confirm bump tests and support system resets after simulated failures * Assist troubleshooting during testing * Log OAT deficiencies in EXTO (COR) * Coordinate vendor training sessions * Track corrective actions and retesting status * Confirm systems returned to normal operating conditions * Verify readiness for Green Tag and final sign-off * Attend Owner FAT sessions * Support pump and VFD resets * Adjust valves and dampers during testing * Monitor system stability during simulated failures * Assist troubleshooting efforts * Confirm systems returned to normal operation * Log FAT deficiencies in EXTO (DWN, NGI) * Track corrective actions and retest completion * Confirm system balancing is complete * Verify equipment is operating in normal configuration * Close mechanical deficiencies in EXTO (NGI) * Upload and finalize commissioning documentation * Any other duties or responsibilities that may be assigned to you in your role.  SKILLS REQUIRED: * 2–5 years of experience in mechanical equipment installation verification and commissioning. * Experience in semiconductor or mission-critical environments (e.g., data centers, advanced manufacturing). * Strong knowledge of HVAC, pumps, piping, and mechanical systems. * Experience supporting startup, testing, and commissioning activities. * Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and specifications. * Familiarity with QA/QC processes and commissioning tools (e.g., EXTO).
