SUMMARY Redwire is seeking a highly skilled and motivated UAS Operator / Instructor III to operate uncrewed aircraft systems (UAS), provide technical support, and deliver effective training for internal teams and external customers. This role supports safe, compliant, and efficient UAS operations through mission planning, flight operations, equipment testing, maintenance support, and hands-on instruction. The ideal candidate has strong UAS operational experience, FAA credentials, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to lead demonstrations and training in dynamic environments. R ESPONSIBILITIES The following job functions are a basic requirement but are not limited to and may be assigned other duties. UAS Operations Operate UAS in accordance with FAA regulations, company policies, customer requirements, and site-specific procedures. Conduct mission planning, airspace and risk reviews, pre-flight inspections, flight operations, and post-flight analysis. Support safe and efficient UAS operations in a variety of operational and training environments. Travel up to 50% to support customer engagements, demonstrations, training events, testing, and field operations. Technical Support Maintain, troubleshoot, and support UAS equipment, including routine maintenance, repairs, and configuration checks. Conduct equipment testing and evaluation to verify performance, reliability, and operational readiness. Monitor UAS technology advancements, regulatory updates, and industry best practices relevant to operational performance and training delivery. Training Delivery Develop, update, and deliver UAS training programs for internal personnel and external customers. Instruct trainees on UAS piloting techniques, safety procedures, system operation, mission execution, and regulatory compliance. Conduct demonstrations, simulations, and practical exercises to reinforce trainee understanding and proficiency. Safety and Compliance Adhere to applicable FAA regulations, company standards, and customer requirements during UAS operations and training activities. Promote a strong safety culture by applying operational best practices, risk mitigation strategies, and disciplined procedural compliance. Perform other responsibilities as assigned. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Prior military aviation, UAS, or directly related operational experience. FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate or equivalent UAS credential. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow operational protocols and safety procedures with precision. Experience conducting demonstrations, equipment testing, and customer-facing operational support. Working knowledge of UAS technology, airspace regulations, and industry best practices. Excellent communication and instructional skills, including the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to trainees. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills related to UAS equipment and field operations. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Ability to regularly lift and move equipment, shipping boxes, and related materials as required. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS FAA pilot rating. 10+ years of directly related UAS, aviation, military, or technical operations experience. RESPONSIBILITIES RESPONSIBILITIES FLIGHT OPERATIONS & EXECUTION * Conduct remote piloting of unmanned aircraft during development and validation campaigns, often in full-manual mode to test the raw flight envelope. * Execute flight tests with surgical precision according to the flight test programme. * Monitor live telemetry and onboard video streams, maintaining total situational awareness of aircraft health and test status. * Coordinate seamlessly with GCS operators, observers, and engineers in a high-pressure team environment. TEST PLANNING & PREPARATION * Contribute operational expertise to test site selection, flight profiles, hazard analysis, and weather constraints. * Prepare UAV systems, including pre-flight configuration, control link verification, and functional system checks. * Assist with the integration and ground verification of flight-critical hardware and software. Mission Brief As Flight Operations Engineer you will work within the Flight Operations and Licensing team, and you will perform tasks related to flight operations. The team deals with a wide range of topics, from mission and flight safety critical assessments, interfaces with range safety and telemetry antennas, up to supporting flight operations from the mission control room. Your Role in Our Space Mission * Manage the development of flight operations real time toolset (COLA services, weather assessments, antenna pointing etc) and their interface with existing tools and APIs * Manage the processes for COLA, antenna pointing as well as flight monitoring. * Support flight operations by managing pre and during flight procedures related to mission and safety critical systems * Manage mission configuration for mission critical and safety critical systems * Support the range and licensing related operational documentation preparation * Manage requirement definition for mission control infrastructure/software upgrades * Manage the training plan for Flight Operators that perform the flight monitoring for mission and safety critical operators * Define and maintain Crisis Management procedures for flight operations * Support mission management in provision of post flight reporting * Support the maintenance and development of ground segment (Telemetry, Data processing) * Perform test and flight operations from the mission control The role will involve software development for real-time operations as well as operations preparation and execution. The ratio between the tasks is expected to be 50%-50% at regime.
