🚀 ABOUT THE TEAM Join the dynamic Finance team at Wakam, where we're the driving force behind strategic financial decision-making and operational excellence. Safeguards Wakam's financial health through strategic fiscal management, budgeting, and financial reporting. The Finance team plays a crucial role in supporting the company's growth objectives, from financial planning and analysis to risk management and compliance, we're committed to driving efficiency and maximizing value across the organization. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 🎯 YOUR MISSION As a Reinsurance Technical Accountant, your mission is to execute and secure reinsurance accounting processes end-to-end: produce accurate and timely reinsurance account statements, maintain a reliable reinsurance sub-ledger, and ensure strong reconciliations and closing support. You will also play an active role in adopting new ways of working through the xLayer rollout and contribute to process improvements. ✏️ YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES REINSURANCE SETTLEMENT PRODUCTION You will prepare quarterly, semi-annual, and annual account statements for the treaties in your scope. You will reconcile bordereaux data (premiums, claims, commissions) with internal systems, calculate premiums payable/receivable and loss recoverables, and validate the technical accuracy of settlements. You will coordinate with brokers and reinsurers to answer settlement queries, manage adjustments, and close open points. ACCOUNTING ENTRIES & RECONCILIATION You will maintain accurate balances for reinsurance payables, receivables, and recoverables, and support month-end and quarter-end closing activities. You will also produce clear supporting documentation to ensure auditability and facilitate internal/external audit requests. XLAYER ADOPTION & PROCESS IMPROVEMENT You will participate in xLayer UAT, provide feedback on accounting workflows, test settlement calculations and accounting interfaces, and support the transition to new processes and tools. You will contribute to continuous improvement and, where relevant, help train team members and business users on updated workflows. STAKEHOLDER COLLABORATION You will act as a primary Finance contact for reinsurer queries and discussions, driving conversations needed to reach agreement on statement of accounts with reinsurers and/or brokers. You will liaise with the Reinsurance team on treaty terms and technical questions, coordinate with brokers on bordereau submissions and settlement timing, and support the Cash Manager on payment tracking and collections. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 🧠 WHAT YOU BRING You bring a solid background in accounting/finance, strong attention to detail, and comfort working with technical insurance data. You have experience with reconciliations, closing processes, and audit evidence, and ideally exposure to insurance/reinsurance accounting (treaties, bordereaux, settlements, recoverables). You are comfortable working with Excel and finance systems, and you can collaborate effectively with multiple stakeholders (brokers, reinsurers, Treasury, Reinsurance, Finance). ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ✨ WHO YOU ARE You are rigorous, structured, and reliable, with a strong sense of ownership and a “get-things-closed” mindset. You communicate clearly, handle counterparties confidently, and remain pragmatic when resolving discrepancies and settlement discussions. You also enjoy improving the way things work, not just executing them. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ✨ 🤖 AI & DIGITAL MINDSET You are comfortable adopting new tools and using automation to improve accuracy and efficiency (standard checks, reconciliations, reporting packs, documentation support). You value traceability and controls, and you contribute to making processes more scalable and audit-ready—especially during system transformation. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 🌟 WHY JOIN WAKAM? You will work at the heart of Wakam’s reinsurance operating model, with direct impact on financial reliability, settlement quality, and cash visibility. This role sits at the crossroads of FP&A and Accounting, with a strong operational dimension (cash tracking, settlements) and a strategic one (performance monitoring, decision support). You will be a key point of contact for reinsurers and brokers, while partnering internally with Finance stakeholders to ensure cash reliability, visibility, and control across Wakam’s reinsurance programs. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 🎯 YOUR MISSION As a Reinsurance Cash Manager, your mission is to secure and optimise reinsurance cash flows (premium payables, recoveries, receivables), provide clear financial visibility on reinsurance performance, and act as a trusted interface between reinsurers, Treasury, and internal teams. You will contribute to the reliability of financial operations and support continuous improvement, including the implementation and maintenance of our reinsurance management tool xLayer. ✏️ YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES 1) CASH & PAYMENT MANAGEMENT You will manage day-to-day cash operations related to reinsurance by monitoring cash flows (premium payables, loss recoveries and receivables), tracking and reconciling reinsurer payments, and following up on overdue balances. You will coordinate with Treasury on cash forecasting and liquidity planning, manage cash calls, collateral requirements and funds withheld accounts, and escalate payment issues—driving resolution with reinsurers and/or brokers. 2) REINSURANCE FINANCIAL ANALYSIS & REPORTING You will produce management reporting on key reinsurance KPIs and cash positions, deliver variance analysis (actual vs budget vs prior year), and contribute to financial assessments and business cases supporting new reinsurance programs. 3) REINSURER RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT You will support the Reinsurance team in day-to-day queries and discussions, lead quarterly/annual settlement reconciliation meetings with reinsurers, and resolve disputes on balances, payment timing and contractual interpretations. You will identify efficiency opportunities and collaborate with IT/Finance on system enhancements. 5) CONTROL & COMPLIANCE You will ensure adherence to cash management policies and internal controls, validate the accuracy of cash-related balance sheet accounts, and support audit requests related to reinsurance cash and recoverables. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 🧠 WHAT YOU BRING You have a strong foundation in finance/accounting, combined with the ability to manage operational flows and build clear financial narratives. You bring experience in cash management, reconciliations, and financial analysis, ideally in insurance/reinsurance or another regulated financial environment. You are comfortable working with multiple stakeholders (Treasury, Accounting, Reinsurance, brokers/reinsurers) and can handle both “run” activities and improvement projects. You have strong proficiency in Excel and financial systems/reporting tools, and you communicate confidently in English (French is a strong plus depending on scope and stakeholders). A good understanding of reinsurance mechanics (treaties, statements, settlements, collateral/funds withheld) is expected. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ✨ WHO YOU ARE You are rigorous, structured, and reliable, with strong ownership of deadlines and cash accuracy. You are proactive in follow-ups, comfortable handling external counterparties, and able to de-escalate disputes while protecting Wakam’s interests.
