The API team is responsible for ensuring our first party clients (Android, iOS, and Web) have a stable API to develop on top of. Our customers are Pinterest developers who want to build product features, and who rely on a highly available system to do so. As the Engineering Manager for API, you will lead a talented and growing engineering team responsible for growing the existing portfolio. The ideal candidate should have experience building backend web applications, be driven to become an expert in their domain, have some knowledge of distributed systems engineering, and have a passion for leadership.   What you’ll do: * Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to architect solutions to better serve Pinterest’s internal development needs * Provide technical and team leadership on rapid short-term projects/feature development as well as longer-term development * Partner with engineering leadership to set engineering priorities, estimate scope of work, execute work, and track progress * Actively foster high-quality software development through code reviews, pair-programming, and targeted feature development and when needed to unblock the team, prototype new technologies and systems, or demonstrate good coding practices * Mentor and develop engineers at various levels of seniority * Enable and enhance production readiness of Pinterest’s first party client APIs * Grow the team in your first year of employment by hiring great people   What we’re looking for: * 1+ years of experience as an engineering manager * 4+ years of software engineering experience as a hands on software engineer * Track record of developing high quality software in an automated build and deployment environment * Experience leading a team of engineers through a significant feature or product launch * Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, or equivalent experience This job posting is for an open vacancy. The AI platform is responsible for all AI infrastructure across Datadog. Our mission is to provide tools and platforms that enable data scientists and engineers to conduct large-scale training and inference with ease. We support products such as Bits AI, LLMObs and all our AI research.  As an engineering manager for the Training & Serving team, you’ll join a new and fast growing team and organization. You will support building and scaling the team, define our technical vision and help shape the roadmap. Your team will lead the charge on multiple critical technical challenges: distributed training of foundation models, serving at scale, designing the user experience.  You’ll work closely with sister teams in the AI platform organization ensuring a seamless AI development cycle. We operate as a hybrid workplace to ensure our employees can create a work-life harmony that best fits them.   What You’ll Do:  * Manage and grow the Training & Serving team, directly managing 10+ engineers * Define our technical roadmap in alignment with AI platform goals and the Applied AI team roadmap.  * Work with our core platform teams to tailor Datadog's storage, infrastructure and data pipelines to our needs * Create a strong team culture aligned with our engineering standards and our customer focus * Participate in hands-on work: Code reviews, design reviews and some coding   Who You Are:  * Previous experience (1+ years) leading software engineering teams, as a tech lead or people manager * Strong technician with a mix of backend, data engineer and infrastructure experience who is interested in remaining a hands-on leader * Excellent leader with strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to build and lead high-performing teams * Interested in working on an early stage project with many challenges to solve and a fast iteration cycle * You build strong partnerships with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product, and science, and skillfully coordinate among multiple stakeholders * You have a track record of delivering high-quality software on schedule and making decisions in ambiguous and fast-paced environments * You have demonstrated ability to use AI coding tools in day-to-day workflows and validate, critique, and refine AI-generated output * Bonus: You’re motivated to push the boundaries of how AI can improve software engineering best practices and contribute to building AI-enabled products Datadog values people from all walks of life.
