Reporting to the Project Site Coordinator, the role provides technical support, project coordination, investigation, reporting, and continuous improvement throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with client, quality, and company requirements. RESPONSIBILITIES: * Support the planning, coordination, execution, and closeout of engineering, construction, commissioning, and start-up activities. * Review project scope, technical documentation, drawings, specifications, and engineering deliverables. * Monitor project progress, identify technical risks, and support mitigation and recovery plans. * Coordinate with clients, contractors, vendors, consultants, and multidisciplinary project teams. * Conduct site investigations, troubleshoot technical issues, and execute Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Step Gap Analysis (SGA). * Prepare technical reports, project documentation, lessons learned, risk assessments, and project status updates. * Track corrective and preventive actions, ensuring timely closeout and continuous improvement. * Support the development of engineering standards, procedures, work instructions, and best practices. * Promote compliance with Health, Safety, Quality, and client requirements across all project activities. * Mentor junior engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing and operational excellence initiatives. * Support Lean, Six Sigma, digitalisation, and continuous improvement programmes. * Undertake any other duties or responsibilities that may be assigned within the scope of the role. SKILLS REQUIRED: * Strong understanding of engineering project delivery, commissioning, and construction processes. * Experience conducting technical investigations and structured problem-solving using RCA methodologies (5 Whys, Fishbone, Fault Tree Analysis, etc.). * Excellent technical writing, reporting, and documentation skills. * Strong analytical, organisational, and project coordination abilities. * Effective communication and stakeholder management skills. * Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation. * Proficient in Microsoft Office and project management/document control systems. * Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams. * Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement. Matrix is seeking a self-driven mid to senior-level experienced Civil Engineer to join our team in one of our 8 office locations (Maumee, OH; Cincinnati, OH; Westminster, CO; Indianapolis, IN; Peachtree City, GA; Overland Park, KS; Edina, MN; Raleigh, NC). We will consider a fully remote option for the right candidate.  The position is salaried and includes eligibility for overtime pay. The position will work independently and as a part of a diverse team of multi-discipline engineers and architects to solve problems and execute projects for industrial and manufacturing clients. The core duties of this position are to prepare designs and drawings for site development and industrial infrastructure projects. This position may also support our topographic surveying, 3D laser scanning, and ground penetrating radar services. The individual will hold a professional engineer’s license or ability to obtain license within 12 months of employment. Level of responsibility will depend on current skill sets and the ability to learn and show competence in completing assignments and leading junior engineers. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES * Lead designs for site grading, site layout, stormwater management, storm sewers, sanitary sewers, water/firewater piping, pavement, parking lots, private roads/drives, erosion and sediment control, railroad spurs and general site development for industrial and manufacturing facilities. * Lead the development of engineering contract documents including drawings, details, specifications, and installation scopes of work using AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and Microsoft Office programs. * Lead gathering field data including hand measurements, surveying, 3D scanning, and ground penetrating radar. * Lead estimating material take-offs and preparing budgetary construction cost estimates. QUALIFICATIONS * Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from a four-year ABET-accredited college or university. * Four (4) to ten (10) years of related civil engineering experience. * Experience in engineering consulting and/or working at manufacturing facilities preferred. * PE Required or ability to obtain within 12 months of start date. * Must be able to travel up to 20% local/daytime travel; occasional overnight travel may be required. * Must be proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite. * Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred. * Knowledge of topographic surveying and/or 3D laser scanning preferred. * Ability to self-manage assignments for multiple projects concurrently. * Positive attitude and eagerness to learn new skills. Salaries are based on experience, skills, and qualifications.
