and engineering.
You’ll sit within our content team alongside other content managers, social and SEO, all reporting into the Head of Content &

It is built for today’s hybrid teams, where AI agents write and test code and humans focus on solving the problems that really matter. Developers, DevOps engineers, and platform teams use Upsun to build, ship, and scale confidently without wrestling with backend infrastructure. We give you your time back. You get: * Predictable performance, even at scale * Secure, compliant environments by default * Real-time observability and profiling built in * Cloning, configuration, and provisioning in seconds * AI-ready features that plug directly into your stack The name says it all. "Up" means uptime, reliability, and acceleration. "Sun" reflects our follow-the-sun-support, a 24x7, globally distributed support team keeping the lights on while you rest. Our core belief is that software should power brighter solutions and greater innovation. Upsunners are a remote, global workforce, and we thrive in a multicultural team. We are committed to open source and an open, welcoming environment. Our team spans the globe and the experience spectrum. What's our commonality, our cultural fabric? A curious spirit and a thirst for knowledge; an eagerness for innovative ideas and cultures. We believe we can build anything together in an environment that frees you to do your best work. Our values: 🌿 We make a positive impact. ✨ We aim for the stars. 💚 We care for each other. IMPACT OF A SENIOR CONTENT ENGINEER As a Senior Content Engineer at Upsun, you will redefine how developer documentation is created, maintained, and consumed in an AI-native world. This isn’t a traditional technical writing role; rather than being a bottleneck for content, you are an architect of systems. You will build the AI-powered infrastructure and editorial frameworks that empower engineers and product managers to publish high-quality documentation themselves. You are a systems thinker who thrives on technical ownership. You bridge the gap between hands-on engineering—building Claude skills and content pipelines—and sharp editorial judgment. By setting the standards and guardrails for automated workflows, you ensure that every piece of content we ship is accurate, clear, and optimized for both human developers and AI agents. Beyond automation, you are the final quality gate. Your work ensures that documentation can keep pace with rapid engineering cycles without sacrificing the clarity and "voice" developers love. You are an enabler, shifting the team from a "writer writes everything" model to a "writer enables everyone to write well" philosophy. WHAT TO EXPECT * AI Content Infrastructure: Design and build Claude skills, MCP integrations, and automated pipelines that transform internal knowledge into publication-ready docs with minimal manual intervention. * Editorial Quality at Scale: Act as the final reviewer for content produced by AI-assisted workflows and engineers, maintaining a high bar for technical accuracy and polish. * Standards & Machine Readability: Define content structures and metadata standards that ensure our documentation is agent-consumable and machine-parseable. * Self-Service Enablement: Train and support engineers and PMs to document their own features using the tools and frameworks you create. * Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Engineering and Product teams to ensure new features ship with documentation-ready context. * Feedback & Optimization: Build automated loops to identify content gaps and outdated docs, using metrics to track quality and documentation satisfaction. * Advocacy Support: Work with Developer Advocates to refine tutorials, blog posts, and SDK documentation for high-visibility releases. WHAT YOU BRING * Solid Technical Foundation: Ability to read and write code (TypeScript or Python preferred), build integrations, and work comfortably with SDKs and APIs. * Exceptional Writing & Editing: The skill to take a rough technical draft and turn it into something developers love, with strong opinions on clarity and structure. * AI/LLM Tooling Fluency: Hands-on experience building with or around LLMs, including prompt engineering and AI-assisted workflows. * Systems Thinking: A mindset that prioritizes pipelines and frameworks over one-off documents to solve content problems at the system level. * Collaborative Mindset: A proactive approach to working with engineering and product teams to win buy-in and drive timely results. * English Proficiency: Professional-level fluency in English for writing and global team collaboration. BONUS POINTS * Background in Developer Advocacy or DevRel. * Experience building MCP servers or similar AI agent integrations. * Familiarity with docs-as-code workflows (e.g., Mintlify, Docusaurus). * Proven track record of enabling non-writers to produce high-quality content through training or editorial workflows. * Contributions to open-source documentation or developer communities. Toast creates technology to help restaurants and local businesses succeed in a digital world, helping business owners operate, increase sales, engage customers, and keep employees happy. Organic growth is critical to sustainable business success - and it is being actively redefined every day. We are building the team to address and meet that redefinition by investing in sustainable growth levers outside of paid media. This role will combine the art of experimentation with the science of optimization - building the next generation of organic growth loops that expand reach, authority, conversion, and impact. We’re looking for an Organic Growth Hacker to uncover, test, and scale unproven, creative strategies that drive non-paid growth across web, lifecycle, social, and emerging discovery channels. This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of data, strategy, and execution - constantly experimenting to find what works and operationalizing those insights for scale. This role is responsible for driving organic MQLs from our small and medium business segment, directly contributing to our primary goal of growing our core market. The ideal candidate is resourceful, data-driven, and fluent in modern organic growth tactics - including usage of AI GTM tooling. They thrive in finding ways to bring a sense of measurement and structure to ambiguity. They use data to spot opportunities early, build experiments around them, and turn learnings into repeatable growth loops that compound over time. They are strong “general athletes” that over index on analysis and experimentation vs any one area of functional expertise. A day in the life (Responsibilities): * Identify & Test Growth Levers: Design and run experiments to unlock organic acquisition and engagement opportunities across web, lifecycle, social, and product surfaces. Examples could include: 1) Defining our prospect lifecycle strategy (email and SMS) for our free tooling roadmap 2) Working with MOPs to enrich our prospect database and build personalized messaging at scale via AI 3) Partner with web on our on-site conversational experiences 4) Drive experimentation roadmap for content download forms/lead acquisition 5) Identify emerging channels or communities for Toast to begin off-site distribution experimentation * Collaborate Across Teams: Partner with MOPs, web, content, SEO, brand, and analytics teams to translate insights into actionable growth strategies. * Leverage Data to Drive Action: Analyze performance data, user behavior, and search trends to prioritize high-impact opportunities. * Build Scalable AI -powered Growth Systems: Turn one-off wins into repeatable playbooks that enrich customer and prospect data, surface high-intent opportunities, and enable personalized engagement at scale. * Stay Ahead of Trends: Constantly explore new channels, algorithms, and formats — from AI search to niche social communities — to keep our growth engine ahead of the curve. What you'll need to thrive (Requirements): * 10+ years of experience in Growth, demand generation or digital marketing, with a track record of measurable impact * Familiarity with CRM/lifecycle channels (email, SMS, in-product messaging) * Experience working with AI workflows and automation tools (i.e. Clay), analytics platforms, and A/B testing methodologies. * Deep understanding of how AI, content, data, and technology intersect to drive discovery and conversion. * Creative problem-solving mindset — thrives on testing, iterating, and scaling what works. * Strong cross-functional collaboration and communication skills. * Curiosity about the evolving digital landscape — including LLM-driven search, social algorithms, and content discovery innovation.
