As a Mechanical Commissioning Technician working with the LotusWorks team, you will be based on a client site within the
Semiconductor sector at a state-of-the-art facility in Leixlip, Co. Kildare.
You will be responsible for both decommissioning and commissioning of facilities equipment across utility and process systems,
supporting the safe start-up, testing, and handover of mechanical systems in a live, high-tech manufacturing environment. You will
be responsible for the mechanical connection and installation of process tools, supporting tool start‑up activities during a

As an Instrumentation and Control (I&C) Commissioning Technician working with the LotusWorks team, you will be based on a client site within the Semiconductor sector at a state‑of‑the‑art facility in Leixlip, Co. Kildare. In this role, you will join a highly experienced onsite team responsible for the delivery of I&C system scopes within an active manufacturing environment. LotusWorks has provided continuous support to this client site for over two decades, backed by established onsite management structures, reliable administrative support, and a collaborative, performance-driven team culture. RESPONSIBILITIES: * This position is responsible for the commissioning and de-commissioning of a range of I&C associated Live Systems, including but not limited to those listed below: * VSD’s * Air Handling Units (AHUs), Mass Air Handling Units (MAHs) * Chillers, Boilers, Spot Coolers * Scrubbed Exhaust and General Exhaust Systems * Water Treatment Systems (UPW) Analytical Instrumentation * Industrial Waste Systems (IWS) * Associated instrumentation, Analytical Instrumentation, Field devices, Control panels, and PLC‑based Control Systems * Work as an I&C Technician as part of a wider multi-disciplinary team supporting commissioning and de-commissioning activities. * Demonstrate ownership and initiative in a high‑paced, schedule‑driven environment. * Deliver assigned tasks in line with project milestones and safety requirements. * Carry out all duties in a manner that poses no risk to personnel safety or facility operations. * Undertake any other duties or responsibilities as assigned in line with the role. * Generate Before Action Reviews (BARs) and execute documentation to support decommissioning activities on live systems in line with site procedures. * Generate and execute commissioning documentation including OATs and FATs (Operational and Functional Acceptance Tests). * Work with Operations and Engineering teams to develop testing protocols and system start‑up procedures. * Commission and test instrumentation devices including sensors, transmitters, control valves, actuators, and associated field devices. * Support testing and troubleshooting of PLC‑based control systems and interfaces with mechanical and electrical equipment. * Safely troubleshoot and resolve system and instrumentation issues in a live manufacturing environment. * Work to tight timelines while maintaining strict safety and quality standards. * Ensure documentation complies with client quality and commissioning requirements. * Generate, execute, and maintain commissioning documentation in a controlled and organised manner. * Record test results and system performance data. * Support the closure of identified field issues and verify that all corrective actions have been effectively implemented. * Interact and respond to Project and Commissioning Leads direction. * Attend daily meetings and provide accurate status updates on assigned systems and activities. * Co-ordinate with commissioning, operations, engineering, and safety teams to support system readiness. * Communicate clearly and professionally with peers, supervisors, and client stakeholders. * Execute all works in strict accordance with site safety protocols, procedures, permits, and approved documentation. * The role involves the commissioning and de-commissioning of multiple Live Systems, executed with unwavering adherence to COHE (Control of Hazardous Energy) procedures to ensure the highest standards of safety and operational control. * Maintain exceptional attention to safety standards, particularly when working on live monitoring and FMS systems. * Identify, report, and mitigate risks associated with I&C commissioning & de-commissioning activities. * Any other duties or responsibilities that may be assigned to you in your role. SKILLS REQUIRED: * Minimum of 2 years’ industry experience in instrumentation, controls, or commissioning environments. * Strong troubleshooting skills across a wide variety of instrumentation and PLC‑based control systems. * Working knowledge of HART communication and instrument configuration is an advantage (training will be provided). * Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment. * Proficient in Microsoft 365 suite applications, with the ability to produce accurate documentation and support operational tasks. * Strong communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills. EDUCATION / LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS: * Diploma in Industrial Automation & Controls, Applied Physics & Instrumentation, or a time‑served Instrumentation trade qualification, or other relevant qualification. * Proof of education, licenses, and certifications will be required where applicable. This role is responsible for ensuring systems are installed, tested, and operating in accordance with design specifications and operational requirements. RESPONSIBILITIES: * Execute a structured commissioning process for mechanical systems, including system verification, testing, calibration (as applicable), and validation. * Perform detailed mechanical system walkdowns to identify deficiencies, incomplete work, or deviations from design; document findings and track resolution. * Conduct mechanical inspections and functional testing to confirm system readiness and support startup activities. * Coordinate with engineering, construction, and operations teams to resolve commissioning issues and ensure system performance meets design intent. * Support system turnover and handover to operations by ensuring all commissioning requirements are completed and documented. * Maintain accurate commissioning documentation, including reports, checklists, punch lists, and as-built records. * Follow and enforce strict safety protocols, identifying and mitigating risks related to rotating equipment, pressurized systems, and hazardous processes. * Perform additional duties as assigned to support project and commissioning objectives. * Any other duties or responsibilities that may be assigned to you in your role. SKILLS REQUIRED: * Minimum 2+ years of experience commissioning mechanical systems in a mission-critical environment (e.g., data centers, semiconductor facilities, or similar). * Strong understanding of mechanical systems such as HVAC, piping, pumps, and rotating equipment. * Experience with commissioning processes, documentation, and system startup procedures. * Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, and specifications. * Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. * Effective communication and coordination skills across cross-functional teams. This role will work closely with commissioning, construction, engineering, and operations teams to support project execution while ensuring systems are installed, documented, and prepared for turnover in accordance with project requirements. The successful candidate will have experience working with mechanical systems in industrial, semiconductor, or mission-critical environments. RESPONSIBILITIES: * Perform inspections of mechanical systems and equipment to verify compliance with project specifications and quality requirements. * Support startup and commissioning activities for mechanical exhaust fans, air handling units (AHUs), chillers, pumps, and associated equipment. * Conduct equipment walkdowns to verify installation quality, system readiness, and commissioning status. * Identify, document, and communicate deficiencies, punch-list items, and non-conforming work requiring corrective action. * Assist with pre-functional inspections, startup activities, and system validation testing. * Coordinate with construction, commissioning, engineering, and operations teams to support successful system startup and turnover. * Review commissioning documentation, inspection records, and test reports for accuracy and completeness. * Maintain accurate commissioning records, checklists, and turnover documentation. * Ensure compliance with site safety requirements and established commissioning procedures. * Support project turnover activities by verifying systems are ready for operational handoff. * Any other duties or responsibilities that may be assigned to you in your role. SKILLS REQUIRED: * 3+ years of experience inspecting, starting up, commissioning, and troubleshooting mechanical equipment including exhaust fans, air handling units (AHUs), chillers, cooling towers, pumps, and hydronic water systems within mission-critical environments. * Experience in mechanical commissioning, startup, construction, quality, facilities, operations, or related technical roles. * Knowledge of mechanical system readiness, equipment startup, inspections, and commissioning processes. * Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, equipment documentation, and commissioning records. * Familiarity with hydronic water distribution systems and mechanical utility infrastructure. * Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and technical documentation skills. * Knowledge of safe work practices within mission-critical, industrial, semiconductor, or manufacturing environments. * Strong communication and teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple disciplines.
