The Electrical Commissioning Engineer plays a key role in the acceptance phase of projects, ensuring electrical systems are
installed, tested, validated, and documented in line with approved procedures and project requirements. This position involves
hands-on commissioning activities, troubleshooting, and supporting the successful completion of electrical systems for
mission-critical facilities.

The Project Engineer supports the successful delivery of engineering and commissioning projects within the Data Centre sector. Reporting to the Project Site Coordinator, the role provides technical support, project coordination, investigation, reporting, and continuous improvement throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with client, quality, and company requirements. RESPONSIBILITIES: * Support the planning, coordination, execution, and closeout of engineering, construction, commissioning, and start-up activities. * Review project scope, technical documentation, drawings, specifications, and engineering deliverables. * Monitor project progress, identify technical risks, and support mitigation and recovery plans. * Coordinate with clients, contractors, vendors, consultants, and multidisciplinary project teams. * Conduct site investigations, troubleshoot technical issues, and execute Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Step Gap Analysis (SGA). * Prepare technical reports, project documentation, lessons learned, risk assessments, and project status updates. * Track corrective and preventive actions, ensuring timely closeout and continuous improvement. * Support the development of engineering standards, procedures, work instructions, and best practices. * Promote compliance with Health, Safety, Quality, and client requirements across all project activities. * Mentor junior engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing and operational excellence initiatives. * Support Lean, Six Sigma, digitalisation, and continuous improvement programmes. * Undertake any other duties or responsibilities that may be assigned within the scope of the role. SKILLS REQUIRED: * Strong understanding of engineering project delivery, commissioning, and construction processes. * Experience conducting technical investigations and structured problem-solving using RCA methodologies (5 Whys, Fishbone, Fault Tree Analysis, etc.). * Excellent technical writing, reporting, and documentation skills. * Strong analytical, organisational, and project coordination abilities. * Effective communication and stakeholder management skills. * Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation. * Proficient in Microsoft Office and project management/document control systems. * Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams. * Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement. The Installation Electrical Technician is responsible for the hands-on execution of electrical and instrumentation installation works for gensets and associated systems. This role ensures safe, high-quality installation of electrical equipment, wiring, and instrumentation devices in compliance with project specifications and safety standards. Reporting to the Installation Supervisor, you will support subcontractors, perform installation checks, and prepare systems for commissioning. RESPONSIBILITIES: * Install and terminate electrical cabling, wiring, conduits, and cable trays. * Mount and wire electrical panels, distribution boards, and control cabinets. * Install instrumentation devices including sensors, meters, and monitoring systems. * Perform installation verification and prepare systems for commissioning. * Assist in subcontractor supervision and coordinate with mechanical and commissioning teams. * Ensure compliance with safety procedures, including LOTO and RAMS. * Complete documentation and checklists for handover to commissioning teams. * May be required to perform some Mechanical tasks on site - elementary tasks, torquing, making connections etc. * Any other duties or responsibilities that may be assigned to you in your role. SKILLS REQUIRED: * Strong knowledge of electrical and instrumentation installation practices. * Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications. * Familiarity with safety standards and procedures in industrial environments. * Effective communication and coordination skills. EDUCATION / LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS: * QQI Level 6 Advanced Trade Certificate or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline. * Proof of education, licenses, and certifications will be required where applicable. As a Electrical Commissioning Engineer working with the LotusWorks team, you will join our client site in the Datacenter sector. This job is based in a state-of-the-art global facility in Maiden, North Carolina. The Electrical Commissioning Engineer will be accountable for the commissioning of the following electrical systems: Medium Voltage Switchgear, Substations, Emergency Power Systems, UPS Systems, LV Distribution, Emergency Lighting, Grounding System, Power Monitoring, and implementation of breaker settings per project site coordination study. RESPONSIBILITIES: * Participate in and support commissioning activities throughout all Commissioning Levels 1–5 of the project scope. * Support the development and execution of commissioning schedules aligned with project milestones and the critical path. * Attend and participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT). * Review specialist vendor installations, testing procedures, and integration with site power systems. * Report quality and testing issues accurately and clearly. * Prepare commissioning documentation and daily progress reports for the Commissioning Project Manager. * Coordinate testing activities with the site commissioning team. * Execute electrical system walk-downs and verify installations against drawings, P&IDs, specifications, submittals, applicable codes, and project requirements. Document deficiencies and support punch list generation and corrective actions. * Prepare and execute startup checks, ensuring startup documentation is completed and signed off. * Participate in Functional Performance Testing (FPT) to verify the operation and integration of electrical systems in accordance with design intent. * Verify electrical equipment is installed correctly, complies with design documents and owner quality standards, and operates in accordance with the intended sequence of operation. * Review thermal infrared (IR) scan reports. * Attend construction and commissioning meetings as required. * Any other duties assigned to you in your role. SKILLS REQUIRED: * Minimum 3 years of electrical commissioning experience in data center, mission-critical, or industrial environments. * Knowledge of Data Center Commissioning Levels 1–5. * Data center experience strongly preferred. * Excellent knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), electrical systems in mission-critical facilities, NFPA 70E, and OSHA guidelines surrounding safe construction practices. * Experience commissioning the following equipment and systems: * High, Medium, and Low Voltage Power Distribution * Substations and Switchgear * Transformers * Bus Duct and Grounding Installations * Power Monitoring Systems * Emergency Power Systems * Ability to work proactively as a member of a team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proficiency in mobile technology and commissioning software applications. * Ability to work collaboratively with Owners, Architects, Engineers, Trade Partners, and field personnel. * Experience organizing technical documentation in a neat and accurate manner. * Ability to work closely with trade and craft personnel in a field environment while maintaining patience, professionalism, and a cooperative attitude under pressure. * Strong organizational skills with the ability to plan and coordinate multiple work activities simultaneously. * Proficient in Microsoft Office applications. EDUCATION / LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS: * The successful candidate shall have time served electrical journeyman/foreman or diploma or degree in electrical engineering plus a minimum of 3 years’ experience. * Proof of education, licenses, and certifications will be required where applicable.
