We’re looking for a Laboratory Assistant to join our Histology team. As a Laboratory Assistant you will be responsible for processing of laboratory specimens and/or entering requisitions and/or results accurately and in a timely manner and ensure quality control checks and standards are run as required. Your contributions will make a difference and will greatly impact the downstream solutions and treatment critical to saving someone’s life. Status: Contract Full Time (8 months) Vacancy Type: Existing Shift: Monday to Friday, 7:00 p.m. to 03:00 a.m.(Evening Shift) Discipline: Histology Work Style: Onsite Location: 115 Midair Court, Brampton, ON Internal Posting Deadline: July 23, 2026 at 5:00 p.m.(EST) Why Dynacare is an amazing place for YOU: Join an award-winning "Top Employer" with meaningful and impactful career opportunities Access a health and wellness benefits program that supports you and your loved ones Grow and thrive with a dynamic, successful company through internal mobility opportunities Invest in your future through RRSP match benefits and an employee stock purchase program Experience a collaborative, diverse workforce that prioritizes dignity and respect for all How YOU will make a difference: Data enter all patient and test information for MOH and Private client requisitions in an accurate and timely manner Verify the completeness of all documentation and file related paperwork Handle STAT, verbal, critical and special instructions as required Process add-on test requests and subsequent specimen selection Process all specimens including receiving, sorting, labeling, separation, and placing in appropriate area Follow all guidelines for the handling of infectious material Sort and/or label all specimens received matching to the documentation provided Prioritize time sensitive specimens Separate specimens to correct vials according to barcodes and type of test and ensure to place all specimens in appropriate area for testing and/or shipment to an outside laboratory Responsible for reference problem solving any outstanding reference results Liaise with various departments for any problems and inquiries Responsible for processing all clinical trials as required Perform routine pre-analytical equipment maintenance following documented procedures, as required Prepare specimens, and documentation and shipping for reference testing Ensure type of sample is correct for specified test and sent to correct reference laboratory Responsible for follow-up on missing samples, documentation, results, etc. What YOU bring to the role: Laboratory Assistant Program or minimum 1 year equivalent previous experience Strong specimen processing knowledge MLA Certification preferred Excellent data entry skills required (minimum 40 words per minute) Ability to handle incoming and outgoing phone calls and respond to changing priorities in a fast paced environment Excellent verbal and written English communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team centered environment Nice to have : Experience with AS400, Experience in Histology Working Conditions: Normal office environment Medical laboratory environment Required walking with repetitive motions May sit or stand for prolonged period of time with extensive computer use Required to lift a maximum of 30 pounds as required Exposed to bio hazardous substances, temperature differences and noise variances Pay rate: $19.75-$23.50 per hour The hiring pay range has been established; however, the final pay offer will be determined by taking into consideration various factors including but not limited to, level of experience and education requirements. Contribute to meeting the departmental/corporate quality metrics, regulatory compliance and quality indicators What YOU bring to the role: You have completed Secondary School and a Laboratory Assistant training program or a Medical Lab Assistance course with specialized training in phlebotomy You are customer-focused with a genuine care for patient’s health Demonstrate skill in phlebotomy, with the ability to manage anxious patients through the sample obtaining process in a pleasant, calming and reassuring manner Prioritize and self-manage within a deadline-oriented environment Be extremely detail oriented Proficiency in English, both written and verbal, at a level that enables you to communicate instructions, clearly and understandably, to patients MLPAO/CSMLS Certification is strongly recommended Pay rate: $20.00 -$23.75 per hour The hiring pay range has been established; however, the final pay offer will be determined by taking into consideration various factors including but not limited to, level of experience and education requirements.
