To support the deployment and expansion of our core platforms across Europe, we are looking for an experienced Mechatronics / System Engineer for an exciting long-term automotive engineering assignment in Gothenburg, Sweden. If you have experience in mechatronics, system engineering, automotive product development, or safety-critical systems, we'd love to hear from you. Key focus areas Drive the development of mechatronic systems combining mechanics, electronics, and software Define and maintain system requirements, function logic, and performance targets Ensure robust system performance, including EMC, diagnostics, electrical behaviour, and failure mode analysis Collaborate with suppliers and cross-functional engineering teams throughout the product development lifecycle Take ownership of system performance, quality, cost, and delivery while driving continuous improvements We are looking for someone with B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline Solid background in mechatronics engineering, system engineering, and automotive product development Practical experience handling EMC, electrical systems, automotive electronics, and mechanical & electrical integration Familiarity with Functional Safety and vehicle safety systems (Seat Belt / Occupant Restraint Systems preferred) Demonstrated experience in supplier technical management and cross-functional collaboration Strong communication and collaboration skills with fluency in English Experience with Volvo development processes or safety systems is considered an advantage but is not mandatory. 📅 Start Date: 1 October 2026 📆 Duration: Until 31 December 2027 Please note: The client is expected to begin reviewing applications in August. In this role, you will contribute to the development and validation of future heavy-duty truck technologies, working with cutting-edge systems within ADAS, Active Safety, Driver Support, Efficiency, Productivity, and connected services. You will be involved throughout the entire product development process, from early concept verification to certification activities. Working in close collaboration with developers, system engineers, and cross-functional product teams, you will play a key role in ensuring that future vehicle technologies meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and performance. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys combining hands-on vehicle testing with technical analysis and collaborative engineering. Key Responsibilities • Plan and execute vehicle testing activities throughout the product development lifecycle. • Perform testing of ADAS, Active Safety, Driver Support, Efficiency, Productivity, and connected service functions. • Prepare test vehicles by updating ECU software and configuring vehicle systems. • Install, configure, and maintain data logging and measurement equipment. • Collect, manage, and analyze vehicle data to support engineering development and data-driven decision making. • Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and fault tracing on vehicle electrical and electronic systems. • Support root cause investigations together with development and system engineering teams. • Contribute to certification and legal compliance activities, including Euro NCAP testing. • Document test results and communicate technical findings clearly to stakeholders. • Coordinate vehicle availability, test equipment, and daily test activities within the team. • Contribute to continuous improvements of testing methods, tools, and ways of working. Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automotive Engineering, or equivalent practical experience. • Experience in vehicle testing, validation, or product development within the automotive industry. • Good understanding of vehicle electrical and electronic systems. • Experience working with diagnostics, ECU software updates, or vehicle communication networks such as CAN. • Structured, proactive, and able to work both independently and collaboratively in cross-functional teams. • Good communication skills in English, both written and spoken. Desirable: • Experience using vehicle logging, measurement, or data acquisition equipment. • Experience testing ADAS, Active Safety, Driver Support, or other advanced vehicle functions. • Knowledge of certification activities or regulatory testing, including Euro NCAP. • Experience supporting root cause investigations and technical troubleshooting. • Valid C-Class (Heavy Truck) driving licence is highly desirable.
