As a Staff Hardware System Test Engineer, you'll develop manufacturing test solutions for complex compute systems. Your work will
help ensure products reach customers with the quality and reliability expected from Graphcore.
You'll shape how hardware is tested across Host Processor Modules, server blades, and multi-node racks. The tools, test content,
and diagnostics you create will directly influence manufacturing efficiency and product quality.
You'll develop test software, design test approaches, and solve challenging hardware issues. You'll work closely with hardware,
firmware, software, and manufacturing teams to improve test coverage and diagnose problems quickly.
This role offers broad technical scope across silicon, boards, systems, software, and manufacturing. You'll have the opportunity
to influence engineering decisions and raise technical standards across the organisation.
The Product Test and Diagnosis team owns the strategy for finding and diagnosing hardware defects throughout the product
lifecycle. The team works across silicon, boards, servers, and rack-scale systems.
Day to day, engineers work closely with design, firmware, software, quality, and manufacturing teams. Problems are solved through
data, technical debate, and hands-on investigation.

In this role, you will lead the development and deployment of System Level Test (SLT) solutions for next-generation AI processors. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you will contribute to the design and implementation of SLT hardware, software, automation, and characterization solutions that support silicon bring-up, yield learning, manufacturing readiness, and production deployment. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical depth in semiconductor test and validation, a passion for solving complex engineering challenges, and a strong focus on product quality and manufacturability. The Team The Product Test and Diagnostics team’s role is to detect and manage hardware defects that arise from the manufacture and use of our products. This covers chips, boards and finished systems and takes place both in the manufacturing sites and in the field. Responsibilities and Duties * Lead development and deployment of SLT hardware and software solutions supporting silicon bring-up, characterization, yield learning, and manufacturing deployment. * Own major SLT workstreams and drive execution from requirements definition through deployment and production readiness. * Develop and integrate SLT test content in collaboration with Silicon Validation, Bring-up, Product Engineering, and Manufacturing teams. * Lead development of SLT hardware including test boards, sockets, thermal solutions, instrumentation, and vendor engagements. * Develop and maintain SLT software frameworks, automation infrastructure, diagnostics, telemetry collection, and data analysis tools. * Drive characterization activities including voltage margining, frequency characterization, thermal characterization, and reliability screening. * Lead debug, failure analysis, root-cause investigations, and correlation activities across Simulation, ATE, Bench, SLT, and manufacturing environments. * Define and optimize test coverage, test time, screening effectiveness, DPPM, and manufacturing test strategies. * Support transfer of SLT solutions into OSAT and contract manufacturing environments and provide production ramp support. * Work closely with DFT teams to understand testability, observability, scan architectures, and manufacturing test requirements. * Contribute to definition of future SLT architectures, methodologies, and infrastructure requirements. * Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership within the team. * Drive technical reviews, project planning, risk management, and execution tracking for assigned workstreams. * Collaborate with external vendors and industry partners to evaluate and deploy SLT platforms and solutions. Candidate Profile Essential: * Experience in System-Level Test, production test, characterization, or post-silicon validation of complex semiconductor products. * Strong understanding of semiconductor fundamentals, power delivery, signal integrity, board design practices, and advanced packaging technologies. * Knowledge of DFT methodologies including scan, JTAG, BIST, MBIST, boundary scan, and manufacturing test architectures. * Experience working with OSATs, contract manufacturers, and high-volume manufacturing environments. * Strong scripting, automation, and debug skills using Python, Tcl, Shell, Perl, or similar languages. * Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects and coordinate cross-functional activities. * Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. * Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field. Role Summary At Amperesand, the Test Engineering leader owns the manufacturing test and product validation of our Solid State Transformer (SST). You own the test system uptime, timely delivery, and the operational health of the test lab. You will partner closely with the program management team and cross-functional teams across EE design, ME design, and firmware to bring rigor, speed, and reliability to everything we ship. Responsibilities * Lead, mentor, and grow a team of test engineers responsible for manufacturing test and product validation of high-voltage power electronics products. * Provide technical guidance and set direction on test architecture, methodology, and execution while empowering engineers to own their domains. * Own the end-to-end strategy and execution for manufacturing test and product validation, including test coverage, accuracy, cycle time, cost, and scalability for volume production. * Oversee the design, build, validation, and deployment of test systems for high-voltage, high-current power electronics, ensuring systems are delivered on time and meet performance targets. * Ensure high test system uptime across prototype labs, pre-production, and manufacturing environments. Design a structure to drive rapid response and root-cause resolution when testers go down and establish preventive maintenance and reliability practices. * Own the test lab - its layout, equipment, calibration cadence, safety standards, capacity planning, and day-to-day operations. * Drive the definition of manufacturing test specifications for volume production, partnering with operations, design, quality, and reliability teams. * Partner with the program management team to plan resources and align on milestones, dependencies, and deliverables across the broader engineering organization. * Collaborate closely with EE design, ME design, and firmware teams to influence DFT, investigate failures, and drive product improvements from first principles. * Drive continuous improvement of test efficiency, coverage, and automation — championing investments in tooling and automated test infrastructure that scale with volume. * Establish frameworks for test requirements decomposition, acceptance criteria, and program execution that scale with the company. Qualifications * BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree a plus. * 10+ years of engineering experience in test engineering, validation, or power electronics hardware development, with at least 4 years in a people-leadership role managing technical teams. * Strong hands-on background in test engineering for power electronics, including high-voltage, high-power conversion systems. * Solid understanding of PCBA schematics, hardware debug, and the use of oscilloscopes, multimeters, power analyzers, and other lab instrumentation. * Proven track record leading the design, build, and deployment of manufacturing test systems and product validation programs, ideally from prototype through volume production. * Demonstrated success running and scaling a test lab, including managing uptime, calibration, safety, and capacity. * Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional partners in EE design, ME design, firmware, manufacturing, and program management. * Track record of hiring, developing, and retaining strong technical talent; able to provide credible technical guidance to senior and staff engineers. * Ability to drive action grounded in first-principles thinking, with entrepreneurial ownership in a high-growth environment. * Willingness to travel up to 10%, including internationally.
