You’ll split your time between the warehouse and the streets, using our e‑vans to move, repair and recharge the fleet. If you

About the role As a Warehouse Operative, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and timely movement of cargo throughout our warehouse and port operations. Working as part of a close-knit team, you will be responsible for handling a wide range of freight, maintaining high safety standards, and supporting the smooth flow of goods from arrival through to dispatch. This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced environment where teamwork, attention to detail, and a proactive approach are essential. You will be responsible for * Safely loading, unloading, moving, and storing cargo within the warehouse, yard, and port areas using appropriate manual handling techniques and equipment. * Operating warehouse machinery, including forklifts with paper clamp attachments and tugmasters (where authorised), ensuring all equipment is used safely and in line with company procedures. * Carrying out cargo inspections, tally stock, identify and report any damage or discrepancies, and maintain accurate records using handheld devices and warehouse management systems. * Working collaboratively with the Gatehouse team, Warehouse Shift Leader, and colleagues to ensure cargo is processed efficiently and customer service standards are met. * Supporting cargo handling activities on the quayside and aboard vessels when required, while maintaining a clean, organised, and safe working environment at all times. About you We're looking for a safety-conscious and reliable individual with experience working in a warehouse, logistics, manufacturing, or port environment. You'll have experience operating forklifts, including paper clamp attachments, with Tugmaster experience being highly desirable. A good understanding of safe cargo handling, loading and unloading operations, stock control, and warehouse management systems is essential, along with a commitment to following health and safety procedures. You'll be a proactive team player who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and supporting colleagues to keep operations running smoothly. About the role Shifts Available: Sunday - Thursday (22:30 - 06:30) Tuesday - Saturday (10:30 - 18:30) Wednesday - Saturday (08:30 - 18:30) You’ll be working in a busy, temperature-controlled warehouse, handling stock and preparing orders to meet strict schedules and quality standards. You will be responsible for: * Receiving, picking, assembling, and loading orders in line with KPIs * Operating Warehouse Management Systems and following customer schedules * Handling stock carefully to minimise damage and maintain accuracy * Using MHE safely (including pre-operational checks and defect reporting) * Following health & safety, food hygiene, and environmental procedures * Checking stock on receipt and storing at correct temperature * Completing operational documents accurately and on time About you You’ll need the ability to read and follow instructions, work accurately under pressure, and meet deadlines. MHE licences (reach and counterbalance) are desirable but not essential. An understanding of warehouse operations and a strong health & safety awareness will help you succeed. About the role We are looking for a Warehouse Operative to join our team in Birmingham. This is a varied and hands-on role where you will play an important part in ensuring that our specialist alloy materials are received, processed and delivered to customers safely, accurately and on time. You will be involved in both warehouse operations and material processing, working with customer orders from receipt through to dispatch. What you'll do Your responsibilities will include, among others: Receiving, unloading and inspecting incoming materials and deliveries Picking, packing and preparing customer orders for shipment Loading and unloading vehicles safely and efficiently Operating warehouse equipment and material processing machinery, including saws and cutting equipment Processing customer orders according to specifications and quality requirements Performing basic dimensional and quality checks Identifying, labelling and maintaining traceability of materials Maintaining accurate stock records and supporting inventory activities Processing orders and transactions in our ERP system Supporting stock management and warehouse organization Following Health & Safety procedures and maintaining a clean and safe working environment Collaborating with colleagues across departments to ensure customer requirements are met Contributing to continuous improvements in warehouse processes and ways of working As our business continues to grow, the role may evolve with additional responsibilities and development opportunities over time.
