Arbetsuppgifterna kommer i huvudsak att innebära dels att vara ordförande vid alla slags förhandlingar och sammanträden och att i anslutning till dem avgöra mål och ärenden, dels sedvanligt rotelarbete. Tingsrätten handlägger över 5 000 mål och ärenden per år. Varje domare är indelad på en tvistemåls- och ärenderotel. Tidigare har domarna själva, med hjälp av tingsnotarien som är knuten till roteln, ansvarat för beredningen av tvistemålen och ärendena. Ett utvecklingsarbete pågår dock med utökat beredningsstöd från tingsrättens beredningsjurister. Brottmålen bereds i princip fullt ut av domstolshandläggarna under ledning av beredningsjuristen. De förenklade tvistemålen (FT-målen) handläggs av beredningsjuristerna och tingsnotarierna. Tingsrätten är en öppen och modern arbetsplats med skickliga och engagerade medarbetare.
