Senior Software Engineer, Java (Margin Trading)

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES We are looking for a highly organized and technically proficient Senior Project Manager to lead internal software development projects for Provider Products in a Software as a Medical Device (SaMD) domain. This position is crucial for ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet the highest quality standards. As a key member of our team, the Senior Project Manager will collaborate with various departments to align project goals with business objectives, fostering innovation and efficiency throughout the project lifecycle. The ideal candidate combines project management expertise with solid understanding of software development technologies and processes, and of healthcare standards, patient safety, and software regulatory requirements. Your responsibilities will include: * Leading and managing cross-functional AI/software product delivery projects from initiation to release, ensuring alignment with agreed scope, timelines, milestones and governance expectations * Owning the E2E project plan across the full product delivery lifecycle, including planning, execution, design control milestones, verification and validation activities, regulatory documentation dependencies and release readiness * Driving transparency on project status through structured reporting, milestone tracking, dependency management, and executive-level communication * Facilitating effective decision-making for scope, priorities, trade-offs, release planning and change management * Identifying, tracking and managing risks, issues, assumptions and dependencies, ensuring timely escalation and mitigation * Organizing and facilitating project meetings, workshops and decision forums with clear agendas, outputs, owners and follow-up actions * Supporting the team in maintaining documentation discipline in line with the quality management system and regulated software/SaMD lifecycle expectations YOUR PROFILE * 5+ years of professional experience in project management, ideally in a software, SaaS, AI or healthcare environment * Proven experience managing cross-functional projects involving multiple departments and stakeholder groups * Experience in working in or close to software product development teams * Experience in regulated environments, medical devices, SaMD, ISO 13485, design controls, verification/validation, or regulatory documentation is a strong plus * Excellent command of MS Office tools and project management tools such as Jira and Confluence * Outstanding communication and facilitation skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders * Proactive, solution-oriented mindset with the capability of creating structure where processes are still evolving * Excellent written and spoken English skills BENEFITS * Room for your own ideas and possibility to grow in your role * Friendly and supportive team culture that values diversity * Hybrid work model (home office + in-person collaboration) * Flexible working hours for better work–life balance * Well-equipped workplace in a charming office in central Vienna  * Public transport support * Regular team-building events * Fully stocked kitchen with snacks and drinks * Access to digital mental well-being platform * Corporate Benefits and discounts * Buddy program to help you get started You can expect a gross yearly salary starting at EUR 55,356.- (on full-time basis, 38.5 hours/week based on the collective agreement) with the willingness to overpay according to your qualification and experience. Let’s go!   Your mission: As a Senior Payments Product Manager, you will define and execute the strategic vision for Bitpanda’s fiat payments infrastructure. You will own the core deposit and withdrawal engines that power our millions of retail users—turning fiat on-ramps into frictionless, instant gateways to modern investing. You will blend customer-obsessed user experience with a technical approach to infrastructure, ensuring every transaction is efficient, cost-optimized, and resilient to support Europe's future #1 investment platform.   What you’ll do: * Own the retail fiat lifecycle: Drive the strategic product roadmap for consumer deposits and withdrawals across multiple European geographies, maximizing payment method localization (e.g., local card networks, SEPA Instant, Open Banking). * Embed deeply with engineering: Act as a core, day-to-day leader within your cross-functional engineering squad. Drive high-velocity agile execution by writing precise PRDs and managing your scope from ideation to delivery and post-delivery. * Architect flawless transaction journeys: Own the design of robust payment state machines, edge-case handling, and idempotent systems to eliminate "lost" deposits and minimize user friction during high-traffic market events. * Optimize conversion via smart routing: Build and iterate on intelligent payment routing and cascading logic. Normalize decline reasons across various banking partners to implement smart retries and clear, actionable user error messaging that prevents funnel drop-off. * Relentlessly optimize unit economics: Target and reduce processing costs per successful transaction through routing efficiencies, commercial negotiations, and multi-rail optimizations to directly improve broker margins. * Automate broker operations: Partner with Finance, Fraud, and Risk Operations to design automated ledgering, settlement monitoring, and exception handling tools, moving away from manual operational workflows. * Serve as the main product contact for external providers and PSPs —steering technical discovery, alignment, and strict SLA enforcement. Who you are: * B2C fintech product professional: 5+ years of Product Management experience within a high-growth consumer fintech, neobank, or retail broker platform, with a proven history of shipping heavy transactional infrastructure. * Hands-on agile executor: You love being in the trenches. You are deeply fluent in API ergonomics, webhooks, microservices architecture, and system observability tools. * Consumer conversion champion: you understand that in a retail broker, speed equals conversion. You possess deep empathy for retail user friction and a passion for turning complex financial mechanics into simple user experiences. * Fiat Payments domain expert: deep structural knowledge of core financial rails (SEPA, SEPA Instant, Faster Payments, Card Schemes), clearing/settlement cycles, and how local payment methods impact conversion and cost. * Ruthlessly data-driven: Expert at using data to expose infrastructure leaks. Strong proficiency with analytical tools (e.g., Tableau, Qlikview) or SQL to diagnose funnel drop-offs and system failure modes.
