Assurance Engineer

Geometry Assurance Engineer For our office in Västerås or/and Malmö, we are looking for a mechanical engineer with experience in tolerance analysis and geometry assurance. We want you to be familiar with geometrical tolerances and the ISO GPS standard. Experience with the Model Based Definition (MBD) concept is highly valued. We use modern tools such as CETOL 6Sigma for variation analyses and tolerance optimizations directly in the 3D CAD environment. At ARIADNE Engineering AB you will work in a dynamic team of sharp engineers who are experts in the use of Model Based Definition, tolerance analysis, FE simulation, innovation and technical calculation. Together we work with technical presentations, consulting projects and training for customers. We work in close dialogue with customers and help them develop innovative solutions in areas such as geometry assurance, dimensional management, robust design and FE analysis. When you are ready to take on the role, you will also run your own projects, of course with the support of your experienced colleagues. Who are we? You likely have an M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering, Applied Physics, or a similar field, and an interest in analytical methods such as FEM, CFD, and tolerance analysis. However, we value personal drive, curiosity, and initiative just as much as formal experience. If you enjoy learning new things, like solving complex problems, and thrive in environments where you can take responsibility early, you will fit in well with us. Since we work with international customers, fluency in English is essential. Swedish language skills are a strong advantage. We will be extra happy if you: - Have worked with geometry assurance/tolerance analysis. - Is familiar and can use geometric tolerances ISO GPS - Has experience in FEM analysis and problem-solving methodology - Experience with innovation methodology TRIZ is meritorious. - Are structured, responsible and likes to solve problems. - Master English unhindered, both in speech and writing. Good if you speak Swedish It's important that you like to learn new things and find it easy. You enjoy working closely with customers and have great social skills. Here at The Exploration Company, we are developing, producing, and operating Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle that can eventually be refuelled in orbit and that can carry cargo - and potentially humans in the longer run. We are looking for a Mission Assurance Engineer to own the end-to-end strategy that ensures our spacecraft is safe, reliable, and mission ready. In this role you will be embedded with the design, test, and operations teams, driving the vehicle safety architecture as well as relentlessly driving risk down and availability up. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES * Ownership of the vehicle safety architecture making sure it meets all safety & reliability requirements (both internal and external from ISS program, ESA and CNES on entry safety). * Responsible for assessing pre-flight risks and potential mitigations with vehicle design, analysis, and operations teams. * Perform and review FMECA, FTA, PRA, and RAM analyses to identify risks and failure modes. * Define and validate the spacecraft fault management and FDIR architecture. * Work with avionics, software, and operations teams to implement fault management strategies and ensure safe behavior under off-nominal conditions. * Support on-console operations as the Mission Assurance representative and drive in-flight anomaly resolution. Ensure lessons learned feed directly back into design and FDIR improvements. * Champion a culture of mission assurance. Instill first-principles thinking, disciplined verification, and data-driven decision-making. * Report to program leadership on RAMS status, residual risk, and flight readiness. * Drive corrective actions from anomalies, test failures, and operational events back into design improvements. WHAT WE WOULD LOVE TO SEE FROM YOU The ideal candidate will have: * Master’s degree in an engineering or science discipline. * Proficiency with reliability tools (e.g., FMECA, FTA, reliability block diagrams). * Understanding of fault tolerance, redundancy management, and failure detection/isolation/recovery. * Technical knowledge of spacecraft systems and operations (e.g., communications, orbital mechanics, avionics, propulsion, thermal control, life support systems). * Strong written and verbal communication of technical information. * Able to effectively manage projects and tasks while meeting aggressive deadlines. * Thrives under pressure and is resilient in the face of technical challenges. * Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. BONUS QUALIFICATIONS * Experience developing and validating FDIR logic, watchdog strategies, and fault response sequences. * Previous experience in a customer-facing role working through design requirements, test acceptance, and verification (especially with a government customer such as CNES/ESA/NASA). * Passion for advancing the commercial space industry and human spaceflight.
