Our API-first infrastructure abstracts brokerage complexity with a well-documented API, a self-service customer operations portal, and a clear regulatory framework, so partners can launch customer-centric, compliant products in weeks, not months. As part of the dwpbank Group, we share a clear goal: we enable anyone to be an investor by making investing in capital markets more accessible. By combining dwpbank’s long-standing expertise and stability with lemon.markets’ technology-first mindset and speed, we are building a modern, modular securities services ecosystem. Together, we offer faster time-to-market, modular services, and a modern customer experience that helps financial service providers stay competitive and respond more flexibly in a changing market. YOUR MISSION As our Banking Operations Specialist, you’ll own the daily “money movement” engine end to end and help us build the function from the ground up. You’ll run payment cycles, reconcile bank activity every day, and ensure every bank transaction lands correctly in the ledger using clean double-entry logic. When something doesn’t match, you’ll bring calm structure: investigate quickly, document what you did and why, resolve the root cause, and put guardrails in place so the same issue is less likely to happen again. You’ll also partner closely with Product and Engineering to improve tooling and automation, so the operation becomes more reliable, easier to run, and progressively less manual. As the company grows, this role is designed to expand in scope. If we build a larger operations team over time, you’ll have the opportunity to step into leadership responsibilities, shaping processes, hiring/training new team members, and setting the operational standard for how banking ops runs at scale. IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL: * Execute daily payment runs: you prepare payments, perform checks/controls, and manage release/approval steps. * Keep payment routing correct end-to-end: you ensure the right rails/providers/bank accounts are used and flows are handled cleanly. * Resolve payment exceptions: you monitor statuses and work through rejects/returns/failed payments with clear tracking and follow-through. * Run daily bank reconciliations: you reconcile bank statements vs. internal systems and ledger postings; investigate breaks and drive root-cause fixes. * Ensure ledger-accurate double-entry postings: you perform/validate bank-related bookings (clearing accounts, cut-offs, balancing logic; accruals where relevant) and keep them traceable. * Improve processes and controls: you strengthen SOPs, checklists, evidence standards, and handovers to reduce risk and manual work. * Partner with Product/Engineering on tooling: you turn operational needs into improvements (reporting, reconciliation logic, payment tooling, alerting/monitoring). YOU’LL BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE IF YOU HAVE: * Relevant ops experience: you have 5+ years in Banking Ops, Payments Ops, Finance/Accounting Ops, Treasury Ops, or similar, ideally within a regulated environment. * Payments execution experience: you’ve run payment operations end-to-end, including exception handling (rejects/returns/failed payments). * Reconciliation and investigation skills: you are hands-on when it comes to daily reconciliations, structured break analysis, and thoughtful root-cause resolution. * Strong accounting and ledger foundation: you are confident with double-entry applied to bank flows, clearing accounts, balancing logic, and cut-offs. * High accuracy and audit-ready documentation: you’re detail-oriented, dependable, and consistent about evidence quality. * End-to-end flow understanding: you are able to explain and reason through payment flows from initiation to booking and reconciliation. * Ownership and collaboration mindset: you are reliable in daily critical processes, structured in execution, and comfortable translating operational needs to Product/Engineering while driving continuous improvement. * Nice to have — leadership/mentoring experience: you’ve mentored or coached Banking Ops colleagues (formal or informal), and you enjoy helping others raise the bar in day-to-day execution. HOW WE TAKE CARE OF YOU: * 🚀 Compensation package: We offer you a competitive salary, based on your experience and the value-add you bring to lemon.markets. * 💎 Make a real impact: Our start-up environment gives you the room to shape your career, explore areas outside your role, and build expertise through ownership. As we mature and are backed by dwpbank, we’re adding a layer of resources and expertise you are benefiting from. * 🕑 Flexible working hours: We trust people to choose when they work best and avoid a rigid 9 to 5 mindset. You decide on the rhythm that helps you do your best work, with only shared core hours from 12:00 to 16:00 to support collaboration. * 🏢 Hybrid work setup: You can work from anywhere in Germany within a hybrid model. At the same time, in-person collaboration is a key part of our culture. That being said, individual contributer lemoneers work 4 days or more per month on-site in our Berlin office, spending quality time together with the team at events, onsites/offsites or over team dinners. * 📈 Grow with us: We take your personal development seriously! You’ll get regular mentorship and stretch opportunities, a clear career development framework with frequent feedback conversations as well as an annual learning budget. * 🌱 People & culture: You’ll feel our culture in the small things, like polaroids from our lemoneers’ first day, Friday food market strolls at Maybachufer, and our monthly new-joiner breakfast. But also in the bigger things: celebrating the onboarding of new partners, growing our teams, and owning a strong discussion culture. * 💛 Perks & benefits: We choose benefits that add actual value. We sponsor a Deutschlandticket for employees on unlimited contracts, plus 50% off on Beatvest - our partner for financial education and investing. * 🏝 Workation: Get out of here!
