What you’ll do Own the global UW tables (canonical facts/dimensions for applications, decisions, features, repayments, delinquency) with clear SLAs for freshness, completeness, accuracy, and data lineage. Design for AI-agents and humans: consistent IDs, canonical events, explicit metric definitions, rich metadata (schemas, data dictionaries), and machine-readable data contracts. Build & run pipelines (batch + streaming) that feed UW scoring, real-time decisioning, monitoring, and underwriting optimization. Instrument quality & observability (alerts, audits, reconciliation, backfills) and drive incident/root-cause reviews. Partner closely with Credit Portfolio Management, Policy teams, Modeling teams, and treasury and finance teams to land features for RUE and consumer-centric models, plus regulatory and management reporting. Tech stack (what we use) Languages: SQL, PySpark, Python Frameworks: Apache Airflow, AWS Glue, Kafka, Redshift Cloud & DevOps: AWS (S3, Lambda, CloudWatch, SNS/SQS, Kinesis), Terraform; Git; CI/CD What you’ll bring Proven ownership of mission-critical data products (batch + streaming). Data modeling, schema evolution, data contracts, and strong observability chops. Familiarity with AI/agent patterns (agent-friendly schemas/endpoints, embeddings/vector search).
Quartr is a software company serving the world of finance. Every day, leading companies and financial institutions worldwide use our products to research faster and understand deeper. For too long, markets have been obsessed with numbers. Everyone has access to the same quantitative data, while qualitative insights – the words, the signals, the nuance – have remained mostly in the shadows. We make those insights accessible, searchable, and actionable. Our products are used daily by some of the most sophisticated teams in finance and tech, including major hedge funds and Magnificent 7 companies, and over a million finance professionals have downloaded our mobile app. We're backed by some of the smartest minds in our industry and growing fast at a global scale, and we're still at the very beginning of what we expect to be a multi-decade journey. Now, we are looking for a Data Engineer to join our new Data Catalog team and play a key role in building the data backbone that powers Quartr's financial intelligence. You'll own the systems that keep our data consistent, queryable, and discoverable across an evolving landscape of storage and indexing technologies. WHAT YOU'LL DO * Design, build, and operate production database systems with a focus on reliability, performance, and correctness at scale. * Architect and maintain real-time sync pipelines between primary databases and secondary query stores (e.g., search, vector, graph, analytics). * Own schema versioning and distribution. Packaging, publishing, and evolving database and event schemas across teams. * Evaluate and integrate secondary indexing technologies as the needs of our AI-powered products change. * Collaborate with product, data, and infrastructure teams to ensure data is accurate, consistent, and accessible in near real time. WHO YOU ARE * A deep generalist on the data infrastructure side with genuine expertise in how databases behave under real production conditions. * Self-driven and confident, taking full ownership of your work. * Pragmatic but quality-conscious, knowing when to move fast and when to build for the long term. * Based in Sweden with a valid work permit. REQUIRED SKILLS * Hands-on relational database experience: query optimization, schema design, scaling, and operational concerns. Strong SQL experience is also required. * Proven experience syncing databases in near real time, database-to-database or database-to-query-store (e.g., Typesense, Elasticsearch) * Experience with at least one secondary indexing category: search, vector, graph, or analytics. * Cloud infrastructure experience, preferably AWS. A plus, but not required * Experience with CDC and event streaming technologies such as Kafka or NATS. * Familiarity with data catalog or data platform tooling, e.g., Confluent, Databricks, Redpanda, or similar. * Python or TypeScript proficiency. WHAT WE OFFER * Do your life's work: The world's leading finance professionals use Quartr daily. We do fewer things better and hold a very high bar for quality. * Join the foundational team: We're still at the very beginning of a multi-decade journey. You'll have a big influence on product, culture, and how we win. * Meritocracy over hierarchy: You'll join a culture where the best idea wins. We value clear thinking, leave ego at the door, and obsess over the details. * Office culture with flexibility: Join us in one of our offices. We value being together, while also offering the flexibility to work from home when needed. * Compensation & well-being: We offer competitive salaries, benefits, and a generous wellness allowance to support your physical and mental health. We include occupational pension for all employees in Sweden.
