POSITION TITLE: Senior Project Manager LOCATION: Spain (Remote) This position reports to our global HQ in Cambridge, MA and is remote. Who We Are: TriNetX connects healthcare organizations and researchers across the globe so they can see what’s happening in real patient populations—not guesses, not simulations. Our aim is simple and ambitious: Provide a clear path to trustworthy answers, whether your goal is to create promising new therapies, publish groundbreaking research, or improve health outcomes. We keep identifiable data where it belongs—inside more than 11,000+ clinical sites across 20+ countries—preserving security, provenance, and granularity. Our trusted partnerships with providers ensure high-fidelity data, and a properly governed linkage back to individual patients. At TriNetX, we enable life sciences, healthcare, and academic institutions to strengthen human health—with data you can trace, evidence you can defend, and answers you can trust. Who We Are Looking For: TriNetX is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead and govern a growing portfolio of projects funded by the European Commission (Horizon Europe, Horizon 2020), IMI/IHI, and other regulatory or public-sector funding bodies. This individual will serve as the primary operational owner for funded project delivery, ensuring compliance with grant agreements, maintaining funder relationships, driving cross-functional execution, and protecting both scientific and commercial commitments across multi-year programmes. The role sits within the Client Delivery Project Management Office (cPMO) and partners closely with, Finance, Legal, and other cross functional teams. What You Will Be Doing: Portfolio Governance & Delivery * Own end-to-end delivery of an assigned portfolio of EU Commission and regulatory-funded projects, from kick-off through final reporting and closeout. * Develop and maintain integrated project plans, work breakdown structures, milestone schedules, and risk registers across concurrent projects. * Apply the Project Monitoring & Controlling SOP and RYG status frameworks to track progress, surface variances early, and drive corrective action. * Coordinate internal workstreams and client-facing teams to ensure on-time, on-scope delivery. Grant Compliance & Funder Management * Ensure full compliance with EU grant regulations including EC Grant Agreements, General Conditions, and applicable Financial Regulations (e.g., H2020/Horizon Europe rules for participation). * Oversee preparation and submission of periodic technical and financial reports to the European Commission and other funding bodies. * Serve as the primary point of contact for Project Officers, coordinators, and external auditors; manage responses to audit queries. * Monitor eligible expenditure, track budget consumption against approved work packages, and flag deviations in coordination with Finance. * Support DCAA/FAR Part 31 or equivalent cost accounting requirements where applicable to sub-award or transatlantic funding structures. Consortium & Stakeholder Coordination * Manage relationships with consortium partners including academic institutions, hospitals, SMEs, and other industry stakeholders across EU member states. * Facilitate Consortium Board and General Assembly meetings as needed; prepare and distribute minutes, action logs, and governance documentation. * Negotiate scope and timeline adjustments with partners and funders through formal amendment processes (e.g., Grant Agreement Amendments). * Represent TriNetX at funder review meetings, project review boards, and relevant EU-funded events. Commercial & Financial Oversight * Manage project-level budgets and margin targets; ensure revenue recognition is aligned with project milestones and deliverable acceptance. * Partner with Finance to maintain accurate cost forecasting and margin tracking across the funded portfolio. * Identify and escalate scope creep, budget risk, or eligibility concerns before they impact financial performance or funder compliance. * Support proposal and bid processes for new EU or regulatory-funded opportunities, including budget development and staffing models. Process Improvement & AI Integration * Champion the adoption of AI-assisted project management tools and workflows within the cPMO to drive efficiency and quality. * Contribute to the development of scalable PMO frameworks, templates, and reporting standards applicable across funded and commercial projects. * Mentor junior project managers and analysts; foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement. Tools and Systems * Utilize systems such as Jira, Confluence, MS Teams, Slack, Zoom, SharePoint, Salesforce, Certinia/FinancialForce. What You Bring to TriNetX: * 7+ years of project management experience, with at least 3 years managing EU-funded projects (Horizon 2020, Horizon Europe, IMI/IHI, or similar). * Demonstrated experience with EC Grant Agreement compliance, technical and financial reporting to the European Commission, and audit management. * Strong command of project financial management: budget tracking, eligible cost categories, indirect cost models, and funder reporting. * Experience managing multi-partner consortia across international, cross-functional stakeholder groups. * Proficiency with project management methodologies (PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent); milestone-based reporting. * Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English; ability to produce executive-quality documentation for senior stakeholders and funders. * Proficiency in MS Office Bonus Points * Background in life sciences, health informatics, real-world evidence, or clinical research — particularly within a for-profit subcontractor context. * Experience with IHI Joint Undertaking, EMA regulatory programmes, or other EU regulatory-adjacent funding bodies. * Knowledge of TriNetX's federated network model and real-world data research use cases (or comparable RWD/RWE platforms). * Proficiency in a second EU language (German, French, Italian, or Spanish particularly valued). * PMP, PRINCE2 Practitioner, or MSP certification Learn more about TriNetX: To learn more about us, please check out our website, [http://www.trinetx.com/]blog, and [http://www.trinetx.com/blog]Careers page [http://www.trinetx.com/careers] - and be sure to follow us on LinkedIn [http://www.linkedin.com/company/trinetx]. Are you a seasoned project controls guru that is a bit tired of the standard old-fashioned way of doing things in the construction industry? Do you get deep satisfaction from making things run more efficiently using a good dose of common sense and maybe a bit of technology? Have you always cared about the importance of proper planning and the connection between the schedule and the real day-to-day delivery of the job? Have you ever wanted to work a bit more flexibly but still be hands-on in construction and improving the industry? Sounds like a dream. Well, it isn’t, it is quite real! Read on! ________________________________________________________________________ We are Laminar Projects! If you’ve already heard about us, you’re probably reading this because you’re tired of the typical, chaotic ways of doing things in construction. But in case you haven’t, we’re a high-end project management consultancy and tech developer with a focus on upgrading the way construction projects are delivered. Improving construction strengthens the very foundation of human civilisation. (Check out our short film about it.) We bring transparency and control to projects through a pragmatic mix of the latest tech, our own processes, and a big dose of common sense. We then take our deep understanding of these projects and we invest heavily into developing the digital solutions that anyone can use to deliver their projects better. (Check out Shape, our construction management tech, to see what we’re doing.) The core of all this is our true secret sauce: our people. We only recruit the very best, both in capability and personality. We’re deeply focused on designing a new type of organisation that’s optimised for the flourishing of the people in the team first and foremost. People who join us develop fast as a whole person in ways they never imagined. (Read more about our vision and missions.) This approach has allowed us to grow from just two people in 2017 to over 220 today. We have a stable, repeat client base across infrastructure and complex building projects in the UK and internationally, and we’re still growing fast. Joining us isn’t just some “job”. It’s a transformative educational experience. We challenge you to be your best self in all aspects of life. There are many diverse and interesting challenges available. It’s up to you to guide yourself into whichever areas you’re most interested – we’ll enable it. (Get to know us better by watching a few more of our videos.) Core values for a good life A life of human flourishing is all about meaningful relationships and challenging yourself to create a positive impact, so our values reflect the four levels of relationships that each of us has: - Grow yourself – your relationship with yourself - Care about people – your relationship with others around you - Execute to greatness – your relationship with your team - Build civilisation – your relationship with humanity and the world We enshrined our values in our vision: We exist so that everyone in our team can flourish in a high-impact community that: - Connects us with meaningful relationships - Inspires us to develop ourselves to become better humans - Empowers us to pursue our own learning adventures By first doing this, we can achieve the highest levels of value for the world. And enable the achievement of our vision through our two missions: - To fully digitalise the construction of human civilisation - To create a new type of organisation that enables human flourishing while delivering a huge positive impact on society _____________________________________________________________________ The Role Purpose of the role You will be enhancing the delivery of the most complex and interesting projects in the world through the power of project controls. You will be a senior leader in our team pushing the discipline to new heights not only within Laminar but within the industry in general. Your team This role is part of our Project Management Consultancy which focuses on: - Understanding what the real problems of projects are. - Implementing the best solutions to those problems. - Developing scalable best practices, tools and technology. More specifically you will be part of our Project Controls Discipline Team who are industry leaders in the planning and controls of complex construction projects. Your initial leader will be one of our project controls discipline directors. Your top three objectives: 1. To make construction projects deliver to near perfection 2. To develop yourself and everyone around you 3. To create scalable and repeatable solutions to common problems Your top five responsibilities: 1. Own the controls: Own the controls for cost, schedule, change and risk on one or more projects to enable accurate decisions for project teams 2. Develop everyone: Maximise the development of your team personally and professionally and educate our clients to improve as well 3. Make scalable solutions: Develop scalable and repeatable best practices and tools in collaboration with the team so that long-term impact is achieved 4. Report and inform: Provide simple actionable reports to stakeholders at all levels that help them deliver their part of the project more efficiently and effectively 5. Own the outcome: You may not be the project manager ultimately responsible for the results but you are sure as heck responsible for putting in your best effort to ensure the project’s understanding and focus on the plan no matter how stubborn they are! You must have: - A construction engineering background: You have solid capability in the control of cost, schedule, and change, along with deep experience in developing project controls processes and reporting that align with strategic objectives and broader project context. - Communication skills: You have the charisma, presence, and influence to engage construction teams, drive adoption of new approaches, and promote best practices across the board. - Leadership capabilities: You’re a proven leader, coach, and developer of teams, capable of guiding others and building high-performing planning and controls functions. - Impact: You have a strong track record of implementing scalable, repeatable solutions that created significant positive impact across complex projects. Laminar isn’t the place for you if any of the following is true: - You want an easy, chilled-out role without much challenge - You like to be the smartest person in the room - You don’t like continuously receiving honest candid feedback - You prefer to do your own thing rather than work with a team _____________________________________________________________________ Frequently Asked Questions What kinds of projects would I be working on? It’s common for people to be exposed to several projects in their first year with us. You’ll work on some of the most complex and interesting environments in the world. We’ve delivered over 100 data centres internationally, many of them fast-tracked and multi-package. Our teams have supported flagship infrastructure programmes like HS2 through integrated planning and digital delivery, contributed to over $30bn in power generation and transmission projects, and played a key role in the development of high-containment labs and R&D campuses for some of the world’s most advanced industrial and life sciences clients. You might find yourself working in sectors such as data centres, infrastructure (including defense, rail, and highways), high tech (such as advanced manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, and semiconductors), or complex building projects. These aren’t hands-off assignments. They’re dynamic, hands-on environments designed for people who want to be challenged. We bring back the lessons from every project to help our team grow and deliver the highest levels of value. (Check out our case stories.) Who are our clients? Major owners/operators and main contractors with project values between £1m and £1bn+ globally. Where would I be working? One week you might be working from home. The next, you might travel to the site to meet the construction teams and help organise them. Maybe you’ll pop into our London office for a workshop or a beer. Maybe you’ll fly out to exotic (and sometimes not!) locations in Europe or the Middle East to visit clients. It really depends on what you want to get involved in and what fits with your life. How does what I do connect with the long-term impact on the construction industry? You’re tasked with understanding and solving common problems. We don’t want to reinvent the wheel every time, so you’ll be responsible for documenting new solutions and evolving ones we’ve developed. This goes into our knowledge repository, which we’re going to open source to the industry. The knowledge you capture will be used by us to build new products. You’ll constantly test those products in the field, so we can rapidly iterate and improve them for anyone in the industry to use. ____________________________________________________________ Benefits The standard stuff: - Health Insurance Scheme.
