Who we are Moniepoint is Africa's all-in-one financial ecosystem, empowering businesses and their customers with seamless payment, banking, credit, and management tools. In 2023, we processed $182 billion and are Nigeria’s largest merchant acquirer. Job Purpose Sits between Finance and the Product & Technology platform team, as products are built, ensuring every new product, feature, or pricing change is correctly designed from an accounting and control standpoint before it ships. Owns the thread from customer journey to financial reporting: how a product event is captured, how it maps to the chart of accounts, and how it lands in the Group's financial statements. Curious about what makes Moniepoint an incredible place to work? Check out posts on how we cultivate a culture of innovation, teamwork, and growth. Responsibilities: * Act as the standing technical accounting partner to Product and Engineering for all new products, features, and pricing changes * Write technical accounting memos and position papers for new or changed products (revenue recognition under IFRS 15, financial instrument classification under IFRS 9, fee vs. interest income treatment, etc.) * Design, build, and maintain the chart of accounts for new and existing products, ensuring consistency across entities * Map each stage of the customer journey (onboarding, transaction, settlement, fee, reversal, write-off) to the correct GL treatment, end to end * Review product and engineering specs pre-launch to flag accounting and control gaps before they reach production * Own the reconciliation between product/transaction system data and the general ledger, and resolve breaks at source * Design controls around new product flows (maker-checker, reconciliation, exception handling) and document them to audit standard * Maintain a living library of accounting treatment documentation per product, kept current as products evolve * Partner with Financial Control, Internal Audit, and external auditors on product-related technical accounting queries Candidate requirements: * ACA / ACCA (or equivalent) with 8+ years post-qualification experience, including Big 4 technical accounting or audit background * Strong working knowledge of IFRS 15 (revenue), IFRS 9 (financial instruments), and IFRS more broadly * Experience translating a product or system design into accounting treatment and GL structure, not just reviewing after the fact * Comfortable reading product specs and talking directly to engineers and product managers, not only to finance colleagues Preffered Qualifications * Experience in payments, fintech, or banking, ideally with exposure to how transaction/ledger systems are built * Prior experience designing or restructuring a chart of accounts for a multi-product platform * Exposure to regulatory reporting requirements tied to product design (CBN, FCA, CBK or equivalent) * Experience working inside or alongside an agile product/engineering team About You: * You can sit in a product spec review and immediately see where the accounting will break, and say so before launch, not after * You translate fluently between accountants and engineers without dumbing either side down * You default to documenting the treatment properly rather than leaving it as tribal knowledge * You're comfortable owning a chart of accounts as a living system, not a static reference document * You care as much about the control design as the accounting answer. A technically correct treatment with no control around it isn't good enough What success looks like: * No product ships without a documented, signed-off accounting treatment and GL mapping * Chart of accounts stays clean and consistent as new products launch, with no post-hoc reclassification projects * Product/transaction data reconciles to the GL within agreed tolerances, with breaks resolved at source, not papered over monthly * Audit findings related to product accounting or control design trend toward zero * Product and Engineering see Finance as a design partner, not a late-stage blocker What to expect in the hiring process * A preliminary phone call with one of our recruiters. * Hiring Manager Interview * A Panel interview with existing Finance Leads * A behavioural and technical interview with a member of the Executive team.

ABOUT US What if your work could drive change in a globally established industry, shaping processes that touch every corner of the world? At Forto, we are at the forefront of change, harnessing the power of AI to revolutionise logistics. We want to reinvent digital supply chains to be transparent, frictionless and sustainable. From day one, our mission has been to simplify global trade – creating a seamless and efficient logistics process. YOUR ROLE & MISSION At Forto, we are made to move forward. We are transforming one of the world’s most complex industries by solving what others still treat as unsolvable. As Team Lead Product Manager for Financials, you will lead the product team responsible for the systems that turn commercial commitments, costs, revenue, and margin into reliable financial execution and business control. You will own the Financials product domain - one of Forto’s most critical areas - ensuring accurate revenue capture, cost control, margin protection, and trusted financial visibility. This is not a traditional finance tooling role. It sits at the intersection of logistics and finance, where complex operational challenges, partner costs, customer agreements, and fragmented processes must be transformed into scalable product solutions. You will also lead and coach two Product Managers working on closely connected domains, shaping the team's direction, raising the quality of product thinking, and helping them grow into stronger product leaders. This role is for someone who thrives in complexity, thinks at both system and detail level, influences across functions, and turns ambiguity into clear product direction. WHAT YOU WILL DO * Lead the PM team responsible for Forto’s financial execution flow: Financials, procured services, committed capacity, cost structures, and margin control. * Own the Financials product strategy across revenue, cost, invoicing, VAT, FX, reporting, financial controls, profit visibility, and customer-facing financial flows. * Turn critical financial, commercial, operational, and data problems into clear product direction. * Help Forto protect margin, reduce leakage, improve cost-to-serve, and build trusted financial visibility. * Build strong narratives that align Finance, Tax, Operations, Engineering, Product, Data, Commercial, and Leadership around difficult decisions. * Coach two PMs, raise product quality, and help them grow in ownership, judgement, communication, and strategic thinking. * Explore where AI-enabled solutions can improve automation, exception handling, decision support, process quality, or operational efficiency. WHAT YOU BRING * 8+ years of Product Management experience in a complex B2B, platform, logistics, supply chain, financial systems, marketplace, or enterprise product environment. * Experience coaching, mentoring, or managing Product Managers, ideally for at least 2 years. * Strong systems thinking: you can connect product, process, data, operations, commercial logic, and financial outcomes. * Strong product judgement in ambiguous environments: you do not wait for a perfect map before moving forward. * Proven ability to influence through clear narrative: you can align senior stakeholders, explain trade-offs, and help groups with competing priorities commit to a direction. * Comfort working in financially sensitive, operationally critical, regulated, or audit-relevant environments. * Practical AI literacy, including experience using, shaping, or evaluating AI-enabled products, automation, or decision-support capabilities. PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE * Experience in logistics, freight forwarding, supply chain, procurement, cost control, or operational platforms. * Experience in financial systems, billing, accounting-adjacent products, pricing, tax, reporting, or financial control. * Experience leading product work in domains with high regulatory, audit, data-quality, or operational reliability requirements. * Experience applying AI or LLM-based capabilities to operational workflows, exception handling, automation, or decision support. Don’t fit all of our criteria? That’s okay! We know that you might be hesitant to apply if you don’t meet all our requirements, but here at Forto, we pride ourselves on embracing diverse perspectives and celebrating potential. If you are passionate about this position and the Forto values, please apply anyway. There could be a place for you in this role - or another one that’s a perfect fit! WHY WORK WITH US? Our team is hard-working, constantly seeking to maximise the impact of their work, but we put our people first, always winning with care. We value efficient systems and swift, direct communication. We want everyone to have their time to speak, so that we can embrace diverse perspectives to help drive towards solutions always.
