We’re looking for candidates with four (4) or more years of experience.
Experience with various reports associated with projects such as soil, storm water, storm sewer, FEMA, environmental, traffic,
wetlands, lease agreements, easements, covenants and restrictions, purchase agreements, annexation agreements, water flow test
reports, etc.
Experience leading to knowledge of the local construction market and contacts is preferred.
Advanced knowledge of designing land development projects is a must.
Experience managing and mentoring other employees is highly valued.

This position involves active participation in coordination with review agencies and clients. The ideal candidate will be expected to develop and demonstrate proficiency in the essential functions outlined below. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Collaborate with project team members and clients on various project assignments as directed by senior staff. Draft, review, and finalize preliminary and final site plans, documents, and computations for senior staff review. This includes, but is not limited to, reports, opinions, and recommendations on project direction, due diligence and site analysis reports, engineer’s opinions of probable costs, project schedules, utility design computations, and local/state permit applications. • Research local/state zoning and design requirements as directed by senior staff. • Perform site visits and field assignments as needed. • Review project survey data to assess existing site conditions and key development considerations, including legal descriptions, ALTA surveys, and easement documents. • Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D and related engineering software to complete assignments efficiently and within prescribed deadlines, ensuring compliance with the standards outlined in the Atwell Product Quality Manual. • Address review letters and modify plans based on feedback from agencies and clients, as directed by senior staff. • Assist senior staff in communication with agencies and clients. • Independently manage individual workload and communicate needs to Project Managers and Directors. • Apply fundamental engineering principles to real-world applications. KEY COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS • AutoCAD Civil 3D: Proficient in the use of basic functions, file structure, data references, and advanced grading and pipe network design tools for the preparation of technical drawings. • Bluebeam: Skilled in using basic tools, markups, and Studio Sessions to support QA/QC and enhance collaborative project reviews. • Microsoft Office Suite: Proficient in Excel for data analysis and Word for professional reports and project documentation. • Grading/Drainage Design: Knowledgeable in site grading design to ensure public safety, constructability, and compliance with standard engineering practices and agency requirements. • Utility Design: Understanding of water, sanitary, and storm sewer system design to ensure constructability and compliance with standard engineering practices and agency requirements. • Quantity Takeoffs: Accuracy in quantity takeoffs and cost estimation for effective project budgeting and financial planning. • Zoning and Design Standards: Ability to navigate zoning laws and design standards to ensure plan compliance with local and state regulations. • ADA Compliance: Knowledge of federal accessibility regulations to create inclusive public and private infrastructure designs. • Entitlement Process: Understanding of regulatory approval processes and permitting requirements to achieve client goals effectively and in a timely manner. • Construction and Permitting: Ensuring design accuracy prior to construction and conducting field reviews during construction to minimize errors, delays, and rework. • Shop Drawing Review: Verifying that materials and components align with project designs and specifications. • Communication Skills: Ability to analyze client needs, tailor technical information to diverse audiences, and write technical reports documenting project progress and findings. • Professional Competency: Collaborating with team members, resolving conflicts, managing time effectively, prioritizing tasks, and conducting critical thinking and risk assessment.
