Senior Infrastructure Engineer (OpenStack)
Location: UK (Remote)
Department: Infrastructure
Reporting to: Head of Infrastructure
NexGen Cloud is the company behind Hyperstack, a full-stack AI cloud serving tens of thousands of customers from AI researchers to
enterprises running the world's most compute-intensive workloads. We deliver on-demand and private GPU infrastructure to teams who
treat performance as a requirement, not a feature.
We're a tight-knit, fast-moving team working at the cutting edge of AI cloud infrastructure. We practice what we preach, equipping
our people with AI at every level so we can solve harder problems, ship faster, and keep raising the bar for what enterprise GPU
infrastructure looks like.
This role exists because our platform is scaling quickly — and complexity comes with it. As we expand our OpenStack and Kubernetes
environments globally, we need engineers who can take real ownership of how the platform is designed, operated, and improved.
You'll have direct ownership over business-critical infrastructure that impacts performance, reliability, and customer experience.
This is not a maintenance role. If you like solving hard problems, owning systems end-to-end, and seeing the impact of your work
immediately — you'll enjoy this.
Rather than a long checklist, here's what success in this role looks like:
scalability, and resilience for GPU workloads
deployment, and operational workflows
platform stability
platform requirements
We're more interested in how you think and work than in a perfect CV. You'll likely bring a combination of the following:
fast-moving environment

ABOUT AURELIAN Aurelian builds AI tools that help 911 centers handle more with less, so telecommunicators can stay focused on what matters most and communities get the response they need. AVA is a conversational AI agent that answers non-emergency calls; the agent routes, triages, and resolves the calls without any human intervention. By handling administrative calls like noise complaints, lost dogs, and parking inquiries, AVA eliminates hold times and lets call-takers focus their energy on actual emergencies. CORA supports call-takers on the calls that matter most. CORA is an on-screen assistant that delivers real-time SOP checklists, smart reminders, and contextual guidance as an emergency call unfolds, so dispatchers stay calm, consistent, and confident when every second counts. When AVA detects an emergency mid-call, it transfers the caller to a telecommunicator and passes along the caller details, location, incident type, and key statements directly into CORA. The call-taker never starts from scratch. The problem we're solving is serious. The average emergency communications center is 30% understaffed nationwide. Staffing shortages drive burnout and attrition, which makes the shortage worse. Meanwhile, 60-80% of the calls coming in aren't even emergencies at all. Aurelian addresses both sides of that equation: AVA reduces unnecessary call volume, and CORA makes every emergency call more manageable for the people handling it. Aurelian is live in centers across the country, answering thousands of non-emergency calls every day, and is backed by New Enterprise Associates and Y Combinator. Aurelian is growing rapidly; we are hiring people who want to help scale this work and make a real difference in public safety infrastructure for communities across the country. WHY JOIN US Aurelian builds state of the art, multimodal conversational AI systems that help save lives. We work directly with 9-1-1 call centers to modernize emergency response workflows - where reliability, speed, and usability aren’t “nice-to-haves,” they’re mission-critical. We’re hiring a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to help build out the Aurelian platform that powers our realtime AI agents. Your customers are other engineers on the team; you'll create the systems, tools, and abstractions that make everyone more productive and our platform more reliable. WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING A few examples you may work on based on our current priorities: * Analytics: Build out analytics infrastructure using ClickHouse to handle massive increases in traffic and increasingly complex queries. * Observability: Creating great instrumentation, logging, and monitoring tools to give us as much visibility as possible into where calls go wrong in production. * Developer Tooling: Testing frameworks, CLIs, automations, etc. that help our team move quickly with AI coding tools without sacrificing reliability or confidence. WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR * You thrive on autonomy and constantly look for new areas we can improve. * You have 4+ years of experience in infrastructure, platform, or backend engineering roles, ideally at companies where reliability and scale are serious challenges. * You are comfortable across areas of the stack from backend application code to cloud infrastructure. * You are excited by the challenges of building AI systems at scale. To learn more about what it's like to work at Aurelian, visit our About Us page and follow us on LinkedIn to stay up to date! We encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet every qualification listed above. We believe exceptional people come from many different backgrounds, and we’d rather connect with you than miss the opportunity. Come do the best work of your life and join us in shaping the future of critical technology that truly matters. FOR FULL-TIME ROLES, AURELIAN OFFERS A VARIETY OF BENEFITS, INCLUDING: * Comprehensive Medical, Dental, Vision & Life insurance * 401(k) * Unlimited PTO * Company-wide offsites * Equipment stipend * Relocation assistance * Daily delivered lunches (on us) * Office in Seattle * Start-up Equity
